This hotel is 30 years old but don't let that put you off. It was clearly a flagship property back in the day and in many ways it still is. Large spacious spaces including the rooms. Well fitted out and maintained. That should keep all the tap Handle photo snappers happy. This is a comfortable and very well run property. The main restaurant knocks it out of the park for breakfast lunch and dinner. It's international fare. There is a seperate restaurant for Thai cuisine. Consistency is the trade ... Read more

We enjoyed our stay very much. The location on the river is very nice and we felt like we were pretty close to many of the things we wanted to do and experience. The hotel was a nice blend of an eastern atmosphere with many western amenities. The restaurants and breakfast buffet were delicious and convenient. We would stay again at the Royal Orchid Sheraton.

Comfortable rooms, though some relatively small, clean, good service, average bath products, free water daily. Two wonderful pools, one great for lap swimming and the restaurants in the hotel are very good. The breakfasts are included and the buffet is excellent. On the other hand the dinner buffet in the same restaurant at 1250 Baht is over priced and just above average. The hotel in conveniently located next to the public Si Phraya Pier and the Piers 1, 2, 3 where river cruises leave and is at... Read more

Blue flag (from outside River City) are 40b per pier-to-pier trip or 150b for full day pass. Orange flag (pier on left of hotel if facing river) appear to be 14b per pier-to-pier trip. This hotel is one of the few located along the river . I have always felt that this immediately gives one the holiday feel- unlike the hotels in the silom or sukhumvit areas. More traditional Thai style in the lobby - which first time visitors to Thailand will appreciate . The hotel also has a fine dining Thai restaurant with traditional Thai dance that will be interesting to those who are keen to learn about Thai culture . I feel that this is a good hotel, very clean, very smart, very nice bar in lobby as well as two lovely pool areas (one in a garden area, one over looking river) but it had a bit of a business feel. If you're looking to embrace the Thai elements on your holiday, this isn't really the hotel for you. But it is simply a good hotel, all you could need, short walking distance to boats, taxis and some stalls. Stayed in this Lovely hotel wit my hubby for a few days en route to Thailand. Our room had a great view of the river. The room itself was large with huge bed,and a modern bathroom. Breakfast was very good. Loved using the hotel's riverboat, which was free of charge. Had a drink or two at the hotel's bar. A bit pricey, but we were on holiday.. We would definitely go back to stay in this hotel again, if travelling to Bangkok.

We stayed here on our honeymoon for 4 nights and it has to be one of the best hotels I have stayed in, breakfast was all you can eat buffet style and did not disappoint! The room was exceptionally clean and topped up daily! The free shuttle offered wet face towels and water which in the heat was needed! All in all we couldn't of asked for a better start to our honeymoon

We loved staying by the river when we arrived in Bangkok. Stayed on higher floor with nice view. Easy access to yellow flag boats that took you to Royal Palace and other sightseeing. Could also take shuttle to their transit station but didn't use this ourselves. Had drinks and dinner one night at the restaurant on the river. Very relaxing and great service. Huge hotel but never seems crowded. And AMAZING croissants At little place behind hotel.

Nice hotel and walking distance from sky bar and many little hot spots. Have complimentary shuttle boat every half an hour to get to sky train and main attractions in Bangkok. Has 2 pool areas, one overlooking the river and another with a swim up pool bar. Great variety of food choices for breakfast and staff were accommodating and friendly. Only small negative was getting a bit dated in rooms but nothing at all to complain about. So much to do we hardly spent much time in the room!

My wife and I visit Thailand twice a year for holidays and always stay in The Royal Orchid Sheraton at the beginning of the holiday for three or four nights and the same at the end. We would agree with many of the previous reviews that a room on the Towers Club floor is worth the extra cost, relaxed efficient, and friendly check in and checkout, a first class breakfast and evening buffet with complimentary drinks in the evening. A little off the main city centre (about 20 minutes to the nearest city mall) but it was great when travelling with the family as the kids enjoyed taking the hotel's boat up and down the river! The rooms are dated with low ceilings and dim lightings but service is good and staff are always willing to come forward and assist. Great for meetings and the in-house Thai restaurant is a must try with evening local Thai dance performance!

Our spotlessly clean room had a fantastic view of the busy river below. Although a distance from the busy shopping areas and night markets there were plenty taxis and tuk tuks available. It was really easy to get a boat up and down the river to the various attractions as there is a stop directly behind the hotel. The staff on the concierge desk were most helpful. Sheraton Orchid Towers is located at the river bank, which makes for easy access to local water transport. Also guarantees fantastic river view rooms.... Hotel staff is very friendly and service minded, everything as to be expected from the Sheraton Group. The bar at the water front is the best feature... Stayed for 2 nights over the weekends at this Sheraton property, largely for the river view and proximity to the attractions such as Wat Pho. We were not disappointed on these 2 areas and appreciated the relative peace to the city centre of Bangkok. The decor of the hotel is not cutting edge for sure but it suffices. I had a reply from one of their reservations staff confirming the booking and attaching a form to complete to secure the booking. The form wanted all my personal information, name etc. which is fine. The price I paid for two nights was very reasonable and as a SPG member I was happy to stay here. Over the past 10+ years we've always stayed at the Royal Orchid and even though we researched different hotels for a new experience this time we were happy to return. We stayed in a Deluxe Premium River View room during both our recent August and September visits. The room is comfortable, quiet, offers a relaxing view of the river and has great toiletries. The Royal Orchid's many plusses: location - near the river and ferries; restaurants in both the hotel and nearby as well as the local food... Read more

The staff are the hotel. Their attention to you is sensational. Please enjoy your stay. If you want to go shopping only a short trip to MBK, either by taxi or you can use the complementary launch to sky rail station and around 70 baht is the fare one way.

The location is very good, right on the river and next door to a ferry stop. The not so good points: Poor breakfast in our opinion and some poor ingredients Indifference of the staff especially at breakfast Tired rooms - for example the sealant around the bath black and mouldy We wouldn't return as there are much better options within the same price category.

Wonderful experience. The most attentive staff. A bit of a mix on our room on arrival, sorted and upgraded within a couple of minutes. Great view along the river. Rooms have all you need. Plenty of lifts never waiting around for one. The type of service you expect but so refreshing to get. Would recommend a room at the higher level to get best from the view. Free comfy shuttle boat along the river to sky train station. Once again great stay for myself and my wife. Great staff and manag... Read more

I chose this hotel as I'd stayed here 3 times previously but sadly the service seems to have deteriorated somewhat. There was a mix up with my booking on arrival despite several emails confirming things with the hotel beforehand. This persisted on the second day and although the manager sorted things out, I really think this kind of hassle should not happen at a hotel of this category. On the plus side, the room was nice with a good view and the pools are still lovely, especially the garden ... Read more

Superb hotel, courteous staff, lovely rooms and extra toiletries even if you haven't used the first ones. Free shuttle boat to dytrsin which runs every 30 mins. On the return journey you are given an iced towel (very welcome) and cold water! Breakfast is as you expect although I've never seen so much variety.

Just stayed here on the 21st floor overlooking the city and river. The view at night was spectacular with all the boats running. Took the free shuttle to Asiatique. Very clean and lots of shopping and food. River transportation was really the best. Boats leave from the Sheraton dock every 30 minutes. Room was a great size with all the SPG comforts. King Size bed was a great sleep.

As with most city centre commercial hotels , - efficient , comfortable but a bit soulless. However the garden pool is excellent especially considering the city centre location. The shuttle boat service works very well , running ti & from the Sky Train

Stayed for a week, just to relax and see the temples and grand palace. The hotel is located on the west bank of Chao Praya River. Excellent location as we could cover many places on foot - China Town, Wat Traimit and riverside places. Walked via alleys and small lanes to see how how people live in Bangkok. The hotel has complementary boat to take to Central Pier (Sathorn), from where we could take SkyTrain to go to shopping malls. Si Phraya Pier is adjacent to the hotel, where you can Chao Pray... We loved our spacious, well appointed room overlooking the Chao Phraya river. We enjoyed cold drinks in our room ( purchased for a tiny amount from the supermart next door at river city) The buffet breakfast provides many top quality choices. Proximity to tne river boats gave easy access to Wat Pho, Grand Palace and museums. The nightly pop up restaurants nearby were delicious and cheap for dinner. Organised tours purchased from the tour desk were professionally run and value for money. We found... Read more

This was a good hotel with a great view of the river. Lovely by night especially. Very comfortable room with really good coffee!! The staff was very polite and helpful. I wish the food was better at the buffet though. The Thai food was tasteless and so was the many Indian and Chinese dishes on offer. The items were repetitious and ordinary. After 5 days you have had enough of the buffets. The Sushi counter was good. Overall, it was a good stay minus the food.

My first time at the Royal Orchid but not to Bangkok. Accomodation by the river allows easy access to a number of the most beautiful temples and sites but also gives you the option of using the river taxis which are a must try. The staff are knowledgable and very helpful and efficient and I can not praise them enough. The breakfast is an event in itself! We had a Delux River View Room which was rather special. We have stayed at many 5* properties in the past and this hotel has to rank among the best of them in terms of quality of service, amenities, restaurant, convenience, and above all, the outstanding staff. Highly Recommended. We were celebrating our anniversary on this trip and we received beautiful orchids, delicious chocolate cakes, fruits and upgraded rooms on our visit. The property looks a bit tired and in need of some renovation. Bathroom amenities are fine only for a four star hotel but not so for a five star. The service is OK, would disappoint yet won't surprised you either. Everything that you need is there: two swimming pools (one for leisure and one for some serious swimming) and the gym is well equipped. The Sheraton shuttle boat will operate every half-an-hour from the hotel to the pier near the BRT station. No boats after 10 pm though so you need t... Read more

Very nice location and room with the river view (ask for it, it's nice). Good service, nice pool area, clean and spotless. Breakfast heavily overrated, so if it's not included in the room price, go to a coffee shop behind the hotel. You'll get breakfast for the whole week with the same amount of money as one morning breakfast in Sheraton. Also pool bar pretty expensive. Hotel has a very good separate desk for excursions, sight seeings and tours. Well worth it with hotel pick up, very well organi... Read more

We stayed here for 3 nights in the city before heading off to the beach. It is a good location as the hotel boat or fast ferries can get you to public transport or straight to the sights. Hotel was fine but very expensive - our rate included breakfast which set us up for the day but other than that we didn't use the hotel services. Great street food right outside the door!

This was the first time I faced a Japanese staff at the Club Lounge. To be honest, her speaking Japanese is not formal, figuratively, as if she is wearing T-shirt, shorts and sandals. As you guess, it is incongruous for the lounge. I hope you know, Japanese is very difficult in formal way. If you want to staff her at the club lounge, she had better learn formal speaking Japanese more and more. Otherwise, she can work at the front desk, or around the main entrance with bell boys. A five star hotel near the river. Has all the amenities of a good hotel. Offers its boat to take you to the metro station from where one can go different places. We took the boat shuttle of the Asiatech night market from where the hotel boat dropped us. Both rides are free. People who like to use a Muslim shower in the washrooms beware because none is available.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and arrived back in the UK this morning. We booked a club executive room which allowed access to the club lounge on the 27th floor. Breakfast was served in the lounge but we preferred the Feast Restaurant as they had more choice. Complimentary cocktails and canapés are served between 5.30 pm to 8 pm. The only criticism would be that one evening we both sat with an empty glass for over 15 minutes then my hubby had to go to the bar and order them himself... Read more

Beautiful location on the Chao Phraya River in a bustling neighborhood. Make sure to get rooms on non smoking floors as the smell can be overwhelming. Nearly all rooms have beautiful views. The breakfast food is great and the Italian restaurant is your best choice for the evening as the other restaurants are overpriced by Thai standards.

We have always said that the Royal Orchid Sheraton was our hotel in Bangkok. We have been many times, and always stay here. Why? Because the hotel's decor was very traditional in the rooms, the staff were always pleasant, and it had sentimental value to us. When we stayed here recently, it seemed that things were not as they once were. The rooms, once full of Thai character, have been turned into the "standard western hotel room" - bland, unassuming, standardised, cheap, blah. They could have be... Read more

The royal Sheraton at Bangkok is a splendid place to be in . Right on the river it's one of the very few reputed hotels which offers a fantastic view of the skyline by the river . The rooms are fantastic and and make sure you pick on a room which faces the river. Trust me you will be blown apart by the view The food is good and the spread is too vast at the breakfast. To get around Bangkok is very easy from here It's definitely worth the money !!!
