From the staff, scenery, tranquil quarter and fine dining, The Riva Surya, Bankok just caters to every need. The all over tgai massage helped to loosen up my city physique and the Hao San strip treated my culinary senses to lovely North Thailand cuisine. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Very surprised at the fantastic service because it was at such a reasonable price. We were greeted by enthusiastic and polite staff members who served us cold drinks while we waited to be checked-in. In less than 15 minutes we were already settled into our suite. The room was very spacious and clean with an amazing view of the river. Although the hotel was a little farther from central Bangkok, a taxi ride to downtown only cost 80-100 baht.

He staff treated us amazingly well from the moment we showed up. "jay" and Man and everyone else at the front desk were super helpful with everything we needed. The hotel is really nice too. Comfy beds. Nice pool. Good food. Really close to Khao San Road and other attentions. Water taxi stop literally in the back of the hotel which is who we used each day to get to the main sites (temples, Chinatown). Easy taxi or tuk tuk to pretty much anything else.

Beautiful luxury hotel by the river and affordable. Concierge was really helpful and the restaurant food was amazing. Didn't have time to swim in the pool or get a massage poolside but wish I did. Overall great hotel to stay at near the more touristy areas.

We were looking for something different for our weekend in Bangkok and were very happy to stay at Riva Surya. It is a small hotel with big rooms and staff who will go the extra mile to make your stay in Bangkok special. The hotel is located on the river and there is a public ferry stop on the doorstep. There are some great local (little) bars and restaurants across the road and the 2 hour happy hour at the hotel made a great start to Saturday night. Highly recommended.

Great location if you plan to visit the most popular attractions. Very elegant, super clean. Nice pool. Perhaps the best service I've ever experienced in a hotel, the stuff is unbelievable! Hotel restaurant Bubbles&rum inside and around the pool had much to offer us, enjoyed many many times. Very heavy and sometimes noisy river traffic but not disturbing inside due to effective sound proofing.

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here start of June due to the previous reviews on here and it did not disappoint. The service was brilliant, the room was really nice (had the larger deluxe premier room) and both the food and drink were excellent. All round great hotel for staying in Bangkok. The express river boat stopped right outside the hotel and is great for getting about for only 14 THB and only about 400 THB for a public taxi from the airport. Definitely recommend this place.

This hotel was perfect for us. We are a group of 3 girls traveling who wanted to be in a great location but still have all the amenities of a nice hotel. It is an easy walk to Khao San but not close enough to be disturbed. Lots of cute restaurants and bars all around the hotel. Great river views. Nice breakfast and reasonably priced. I would definitely stay here again.

What a great hotel. We stayed 5 days in total (2 in May and 3 in June). I can't fault it. Had a river corner view room each time with views of the Chao Phraya River. Staff were excellent, food good. Nothing was any trouble. A short walk to Soi Rambuttri and Khao San Road. Ferry service less than a 5 minute walk. Will stay again when next in Bangkok.

We had a wonderful two nights at the Riva Surya. The staff were all incredibly helpful and welcoming. This trip is a fiftieth birthday trip, and the hotel staff greeted us with a delicious cake and candles, even though my birthday is not for a few weeks. They also upgraded our room to one with a terrace that overlooked the river and pool. Location great, right along the river. The hotel is quite comfortable with excellent amenities. The pool is a fantastic place to relax after a long, hot day. However, the staff is what sets this hotel apart. For a solo traveler in Bangkok for the first time, they made me feel like I had a friend in town. It was a nice respite from the relentless attack on your wallet by every store owner and taxi driver. Whatever I needed, they seemed to know what it was before I even asked. Maybe that's ... I don't have much to add to all the other reviews except that it's probably the best refined yet casual place on this corner of Bangkok. Many times at nice hotels, the staff are rather stuffy (superficially polite) and think that they are superior to other Thai speakers. But here they are pleasantly helpful and kind. We booked on a third party site and received a better deal and they also added a cot for the kids. Location is walkable to all the tourist attractions and has lots of character. T... Read more

I went with 3 teens and we all loved the hotel. The staff is wonderfully helpful and accommodating, the AC and WiFi work well and allowed me to work seamlessly while there. The ferry stop, long tail boats and sois (pedestrian roads) near khao san rd make for great adventuring. The room is quiet and comfortable. The gym is air-conditioned (others aren't). Hotel is great as all other reviews show. Great location and extremely friendly nice staff who will help you with anything. Only thing I was a little unhappy about was the taxi we arranged from the airport. It cost 1500baht (Ā£30). Little bit much considering the amount you pay for rooms etc. Especially when you aren't 100% knowledgeable on Thai currency. I recently flew from Bangkok to chiang mai for less than that. Apart from that , great place

The hotel was reasonably nice-- Staff was friendly overall-- Right now construction/painting is going on which is a touch of an inconvenience. Inside our room on the 2nd day, we returned mid-day with the whole room smelling like cigarette smoke. I finally traced it to the bathroom access panel which opens up enabling me to see the light fixture of a room or location below me. I told the front desk who seemed rather skeptical. Stayed for five nights on our honeymoon. Rooms, staff and service were all excellent. Staff went above and beyond to assist with anything we needed. Location made access to all tourist attractions very easy. Hired the hotel transportation for a day trip to Kanchanaburri (Elephants World), and the level of service could not be beat. They even gave you a slip of paper each time a taxi was taken to hand to drivers to inform them of your return address. Would definitely recommend.

Riva Surya lies on the riverside and presents an awesome view of the Chao Praya river. The hotel is only a couple of meters away from pier number 13 and has a nice pool abs terrace. My wife and I only had the chance to spend one night here, but that was enough to form a very positive opinion. This place was just fantastic, one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had, and we have stayed in hotels all over the world. It was extremely clean and well appointed. there was no one presuring us to take a tour or anything like that. The pool was beautifully done, the staff was very pleasant. I have been home less that 2 days and we have already recommended this place to seve... Read more

This is a very good hotel. I would is a little small but good quality. Service at front desk was good, facilities are clean and it's modern. The breakfast is expensive in the hotel. You can go to the next door hotel (also called Riva) and have breakfast for almost half price. Massage service at the pool is not that interesting. Beautiful sight from balcony.

Lovely Hotel on the River. Staff are very pleasant and attentive Nothing was to much trouble. The Hotel is ideal for Kaosan Rd and the River provides excellent boat services to the sights! an all day hop on ticket is 150 Thb. The pool was closed unfortunately for renovation but the hotel to be fair had contacted me several months before to say so and asked did we wish to cancel, we had if required free access to the pool next door.

Comfortable bed but the room is showing signs of ageing. Ripped duvet cover. Stains on arm chair. Good breakfast. Lovely staff. Especially those at breakfast. Not what I expected but rooms on the river come at a premium. I wouldn't stay here again.

We spent 3 night stay in this hotel. It showed that it was The best hotel with the best location , it is . The rooms are good, the restaurant is good but the best, the best is the location. It is right by the riverside, with a pier stop for river cruises just there, it takes quite short distance and very easy walking to Khao San Road through Rambuttri Village (some good restaurants in the area). We enjoyed breakfast here so much with so cool and fresh juice and fruits , our room was huge and c... Read more

I was a bit apprehensive about staying in Bangkok. I thought it would be too chaotic after staying in quite rural areas prior to coming to the capital. I needn't have worried. The Riva Surya has a lovely relaxed feel on a not too busy street but within a very short walk of the river taxi stop, bustling bars, restaurants and shops. We had a river view which I think made all the difference! I thought breakfast was amazing and the best one we'd had out of the 4 hotels we stayed in in Thailand on t... Read more

This was a great place to stay in Bangkok. I had booked a river view room which had a balcony, Room was very well air conditioned so was always a pleasure coming back to it. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in! The staff though were a particular highlight. Could not be more friendly or helpful. The swimming pool was a real highlight, very clean and well looked after. you won't be disappointed!

Lovely small hotel. Have visited Bangkok many times, but never stayed along the River until this visit. Totally different atmosphere in tourists, restaurants & ambience. More bohemian & relaxed. Housekeeping was spotless, & service staff ready to accommodate any request. However, what we do not understand with the place, is the fact that if you book on their website or call them direct, the rates are invariably higher. Yet you can go to booking.com, agoda, com, expedia.com, hotels.com etc. etc. &... Read more

The hectic nature of Bangkok faded immediately as we entered the hotel. The staff was very attentive and catered to all our needs and wishes. We felt pampered and taken care of throughout our 6 night stay. The rooms are also beautiful and comfortable. The hotel location offers a perfect getaway from the intense streets of Bangkok while still within walking distance from Khaosan Road with its bustling night life.

Place is a little run down......miles from anywhere....Not recommended. I hated the place the moment I arrived. Mrs wasn't too impressed for a 2.5 day weekend get away. I'll opt next time for a place nearer the activity downtown. Breakfast is terrible and the indoor restaurant full of small flies.

My very first time in Bangkok and first timer at this hotel, it's near khaosan road where the party is in Bangkok for backpackers so you can imagine how loud it is outside but their rooms has double doors in their balcony so it helps blackout the noise from outside which is awesome. Staffs are friendly specially the bellboys (helped me weighed my two luggages as I Only have 30kg for my flight back to Dubai)and receptionists were friendly and all smile) My girlfriend and I had jetlag away massage... My travel agent booked this hotel for my 2 nights in Bangkok. I was traveling to Thailand to visit/vacation with my son. Upon arrival at the hotel, the front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. The hotel front street side was attractive and neat, as was the reception area. We were offered tea as we checked in, and our bags were quickly taken to our room. The room was clean and comfortable, with a spacious bathroom and a balcony overlooking the river. Our experience at Riva Surya was terrific - felt like a 4 star hotel in the US. Service, accommodation and food were excellent. An added bonus was that I had booked through Socialgiver.com which meant the profits for the room for those nights were donated to a non-profit benefiting children. The breakfast (included in the room fee) was very diverse - not just the usual eggs, toast, pastries, cereal, etc but also a number of Asian foods. My 24 year old son and I were "upgraded" to a river view... Read more

What's not to love about this place? I stayed in a great room facing the river, enjoyed many an evening out on the balcony watching the boats go by (do use that bug spray liberally, though!), and slept like a rock in the quiet, cool room and comfortable bed. The pool was under construction for the first half of my stay, and the front desk staff were super helpful in taking me next door to use the neighboring hotel's pool. I recommend the food here - slightly more expensive but worth it. The Tom Yum soup was incredible as well as the mango and sticky rice

They saw me itching and handed a insect repelent right away with out even asking for it. I would definitely stay again with these guys.

So the hotel is overall good and the rooms are clean. located by the main river of Bangkok, the hotel is close to Khao San and the palace. So if you are in the traditional part of Bangkok, this is a good option to consider. On the recommendation of a friend my family stayed at this wonderful hotel - right by the river. It was amazing - beautiful rooms, swimming pool /terrace and restaurant. It was delightful to relax by the pool after lunch (before braving a visit to a night market!). Easy access from the airport by inexpensive cab and access to the city by the water boat service. A great place to base yourself to see Bangkok!

BUT... the room has a great view on the river, but be aware, that the river does not mean no noise! The traffic on it is intense and can be as laud as the street (although not during the night). We loved our two quick stays at the Riva Surya Bangkok on our honeymoon trip. We wanted a beautiful place to start and end our trip and this place certainly was just that! The staff was super welcoming and friendly no matter the hour! Breakfast was a treat on our first day. Our second time staying there we had to depart for the airport at 4 am and they packed us a to-go bag with breakfast goodies! Their signature tea upon arrival hit the spot!
