I've stayed here several times since 2008. It has improved a little bit at a time every year I go back. It's not the Ritz. Don't set high expectations. There is no shampoo and amenities in the bathroom and sometimes the showers are crap. However, it is a time machine and has that 60's and 70's vibe about it. It reminds me of US hotels when I was a kid. The location is great near Nana BTS in one direction and Asoke BTS in the other. You get what you pay for and the staff here have always ... Read more

This is a big hotel built in 1965 and has seen better days. However, it is being renovated and given a face lift. We stayed in a huge family room which has undergone facelift. A giant New A/C and fridge as well as a good TV with many channels were present. But unlike most 3 star hotels within the same priceband, they neither supply complimentary bottled water.coffee/tea market and toileteries. But since it is located in So I 13 right on main Sukimvit road, everything is at a stone's throw distanc... This used to be our 'standby' if our then preferred first choice of the Golden Palace (soi 1) was full. This place is a bit of a throwback to the times when Bangkok's notorious night life was enjoying a real boom in the mid 1980s and early to the mid 2000s. The all night partying involving lasses and their 'Johns' seems to be a thing of the past. The price has crept up steadily from the 5/600B mark where it levelled out for a long while during the above period. While some of the rooms have been... Read more

Let me be honest, i booked this hotel thru booking.com for my wife and friend to use during her "visa" application run because it is on the same street as the place they needed to go. So, the comments are hers,. Small, HOT (more later), and no wifi unless you pay, no water provided (or so I was told). From the photos she sent me, the decor was dated and the bathroom, well, very psychedelic! She told me it was unbearably hot. After 7 hours the two ladies phoned down and discovered the air con ... My trip here was marred by the very rude transvestite receptionist who spoilt my whole trip. My requirement was very simple, I said I wanted a quiet room but the receptionist kept on giving me the wrong rooms and blaming me. 1. She asked me why didn't I tell her all the requirements all at once but when I tried to talk to her , she wouldn't listen to me and threw tantrums at me. I've already told her my requirements of facing the other hotel and a room on the high floor but she kept on giving ... Read more

It is a Bangkok classic, but a bit of a classic of the past... in a few words: Location is good if you want to be in Sukhumvit. Mind you, if you are looking for the temples, royal palace etc then better stay in Banglampoo or Chinatown areas. If you the other hand you want easy access to the top department stores (Siam, Central, etc) or to the BTS (access to airport without taxi, the faraway northern bus terminal, or many other areas served by the skytrain), or even more if you want the nightlife...
