I have just finished a set meal provided to the business group I am with. I can honestly say it was one of the best dinners I have eaten in a very long time. Superb tasting food, beautifully presented in a stunning rooftop setting. A fantastic restaurant in a small, clean and well presented hotel. Thoroughly recommended.

Stayed for 6 nights as a family trip and took 2 rooms. Loved the décor and staff were excellent. Most of all cannot thank Mary Njoroge enough for brilliant customer service. Food was very interesting too and reasonably priced compare to other Hotels or outside restaurants. The view from Taraab Restaurant is lovely.

We stayed at Double Tree Hilton in May 2015. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and presented us with a truly delicious biscuit on arrival. We had a lovely modern room with extremely good duvets and linen. We were very comfortable and there was a good range of amenities in the modern bathroom. The airconditioning was far too cold for us but the staff were so kind and obliging when we asked them to turn it up. We enjoyed the hotel restaurant and sunset views on the top floor. The bre... This hotel is in the heart of the historic Stone town. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with smiling and friendly faces. The hotel is well appointed and we had a large corner room. The rooms have a refrigerator, safe, air conditioner, free wi-fi, and 24 hour room service. We ate dinner once at the rooftop bar which was very good. We ordered breakfast twice and the French toast, bacon and eggs were good. You can walk to all local attractions from this hotel, I recommend hiring someo... Read more

Stayed with my toddler and partner for 10 nights and I can't find a fault with our stay. Every member of staff we encountered was happy and helpful and always greeted us. Our room was upgraded and was spacious, cool and had everything we needed. It was always kept clean throughout the day. The breakfast buffet is great and there is lots of fresh choices for everyone with a great view over the town to the sea. Location is perfect, close enough to everything but still quiet. Had a fantastic time.. Thanks Mukami and all the great Hilton staff, who made our stay memorable. The best experiences were the great food; warm hospitality by all the staff (from the restaurant , housekeeping to the reception). The beds were very very comfortable beds - especially after spending the whole day walking around stone town . There is also something to say about the nice fluffy pillows. We totally loved the visit, and we will definitely recommend the hotel to our friends .

We had stayed in Nungwi for a week and were looking for a day room as our flight was in the night . The cab driver suggested a few places where he surely had a cut but i decided to walk into double tree and inquire and to my surprise they were very accomodating and quoted a rate much cheaper then the cab driver . The hotel is plush and comfy and the roof top restaurant is amazing .

Stayed here for 4 nights and I did not want to get out of bed! Great location within Stone Town sandwiched between the old buildings. The only snag was the breakfast buffet - I would have preferred more fresh variety especially the bread and pastry & not the same danish pastry daily. Not that fresh. But all in all a very nice hotel.

Stayed with husband and two daughters, ages 6 and 10 after a week on safari. Location is prime, near the harbor to catch a dhow to Prison Island or other areas and also near the shopping districts. Easily walkable to the slave chambers, as well. Great little Italian eatery across the alley from the hotel which served gelato, pizza, pasta, etc. Top floor restaurant and bar had good views of Stone Town and the Harbor.

Unlike some of the other western hotels in Stone Town, you approach this one, although not for any distance, through the little lanes and alleys which are so much part of the town, so it really is a surprise. No taxis, or taxi operators or souvenir sellers/tour"guides" etc. hover around the entrance, and you feel part of the town, not apart from it. A group of 10 of us stayed a couple of nights at the Hotel. Beautiful hidden away property with an amazing rooftop restaurant and bar. We had an amazing 5 course set menu that covered a large variety of local produce. We had a seafood soups that only one could dream off. Really friendly and welcoming staff. A trip to the local sandbank is a must book and for any other trips you have in mind the reception will be really helpful to accommodate your wishes and make it happen. I will most definitely... My wife and I visited Zanzibar for Stone Town and for Nungwi beach. We stayed at the Stone Town Doubletree for 2 nights before and after Nungwi beach and really enjoyed our stay both times. The staff was very accommodating to our needs and was extremely nice and inviting. We especially appreciated one of our waiters named Francis. We arrived late for breakfast and Francis made sure that we ate and had fresh breakfast made on the last day of our stay. We recommend the Doubletree for affordability... Read more

I spent two nights in the hotel while spending the weekend in Zanzibar. Indeed the hotel is very well located. Stone town is the best place to be. The hotel is close to several restaurants and local shops, close to the see (although this place is not a nice to swim but fits a nice promenade), has good offer of taxis right in front of the hotel... But it doesn't go much beyond this. The room is ok but it doesn't have a view, the water from the shower is salty, and for the price it charges I expec... Read more

This hotel is lovely. Has all the modern comforts except our shower didn't have hot water! The food was great and the rooftop view of the restaurant is lovely. Staff were also kind and helpful. They had also run out of maps of Stone Town which was a bit annoying but we managed. Overall in a fairly quite spot and was peaceful to stay there. No access to beach/water like others close by (Serena, Hyatt).

I chose the Doubletree due to my loyalty to Hilton brand and the HiltonHonors Program. I was not disappointed. The hotel was lovely, with many locally inspired architectural details. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The location was a very convenient walk to the main attractions of Stone Town, including shopping and sightseeing, as well as the ferry from Dar es Salaam. We chose to dine in the hotel both nights of our stay, as well as having our breakfast there, mainly due to... Read more

I would highly reccommend this hotel. We were staying in Jambiyani and decided to move into Stone Town for the last few night of our trip. The hotel was SO clean and the room so spacious and comfortable! The staff were excellent. It was possibly the best hotel I've ever stayed in.

This hotel is a lovely boutique hotel tucked within narrow streets at a great location in Stonetown. The hotel is in an excellent location within walking distance of most attractions, local art and curio shops, restaurants and tourist offices. Some guests have complained that the main entrance cannot be accessed by a car. In my opinion the one-two minute walk adds to the charm and quirkiness that Zanzibar is known for. Arriving at the main entrance with its open doors from one of the many alleyw... Read more

I joined HHonours when booking and the experience was amazing. Cookie on arrival, beautiful, king size bed with spacious bathroom and large screen TV, nice view of zanzibar. Free fast Wifi. Breakfast above average food, with excellent service, espresso coffee and eggs done however you like. Dinner was exceptional and was pre-purchased with the room - really good value. 3 courses, the crab soup was amazing and so was the fillet mignon with truffle sauce. The location cannot be beaten, it's ri... Read more

Fantastic Hotel! Very helpful and friendly staff with good English. Comfy sparkling clean rooms and good food. They also provided us with a map of Stone Town and recommended good streets to visit. And the cookie they give you on arrival is delicious.

Situated centrally in stone town. Perfect to walk around and discover stone town. I loved the location so much but the room was bit outdated. It just felt dark and not very spacious. Rooftop breakfast was nice. Good amount of selection but poached egg was not poached. You can walk through small street of stores and reach grand bazarr which was a nice 15mins walk or so. You can rent a car or hire a driver but it is much more expensive to do it from the hotel. They quoted us driver for a day as $1... Read more
