The rooms are a good size add comfortable. Evenings having dinner outside as the sun sets see an absolute pleasure. This is normally a buffet, but the quality is still good! Staff are friendly and helpful. Try and get one of the sea facing rooms! Tuk Tuks are a cheap alternative to getting to anything fairly close by.

The Double tree hotel is more of a hotel for business, there are rooms for conferences and large banquets. The hotel is overall very quiet but that may be due to the fact that I visited toward the end of low season. The hotel is located on the beach but there is no beach access. The pool is nice and clean and you can watch the tide from the ocean come in from the pool and bar. You can hire a taxi to take you a short drive to the local beach called coco beach. Not sure why the Hilton brand name is associated with this building. It was opened (from what I was told) 7 years ago and nothing has been updated since. The rooms are dominated with the smell of mold the bathrooms are gross, the beds uncomfortable. I tried to change my flight to leave earlier to avoid spending any more time at this establishment. I moved rooms twice, and saw 6 rooms in total. None of them were OK. All this for a mere $230 a night ! It is absurd. I should note that the staff ar... Read more

Hands down these guys get the win. I have stayed in so many places around Dar for work, but every time I come here it helps me to relax after a long day of stressful meetings, traffic congestion, and heat! The view and the ocean at your feet is certainly part of the experience. Also, probably the best part is the staff who are always going out of their way to make the stay feel special and comfortable.

The hotel is in a prime location at Oyster bay with great views over the bay. Close enough to the business area and far enough to give some quit and privacy. Sea facing rooms are the best as they have a small balcony that allows one to get away from the air-conditioning especially in the evenings. Small but functional gym and an over the water bar that is great for receptions as well as a sundowner.

This is one of the better Hiltons I have stayed in. We stayed twice in a couple of weeks, briefly, in transit basically, and barely saw it in daylight. The approach is unprepossessing, but once inside it is clean, not particularly impressive, and typical 4-star in its reception area. My wife and I recently stayed here as a part of a larger wedding group. The service here is absolutely fantastic. Arriving back from Zanzibar, we had to have some of our bags delivered from the Doubletree and meet us at the airport before our flight home. The service is great. The rooms are large, bathrooms are nice. But the breakfast is really lame --awful coffee, poor selection fruit --canned peaches, really? We really enjoyed our stay. The facilities at the hotel are great, up to the usual Doubletree by Hilton standards. It is a shame that at times, the standards of service did not match expectations. Pros: - Beautiful setting - Quiet pool area, unlike certain other hotels in the vicinity - Comfortable rooms Cons: - Room card keys unreliable - Staff are not as eager to please as at some other local hotels - Most things are are charged at Western prices, not local prices (admittedly standard... So we were herr for a 2 days budgetnstrategy. A team of about 25 staff from a financial institution. On a second day that is 1st Nov 2016 we hasmd ordered a full buffet breakfast. The breakfast was ok. But a 30$ breakfast per person brrakfast with the choice they had was not impressive. The funny thing is the things we had for an early breakfast were the same left over they let us had for a 10 .00 am health break. The food were cold, with an addition of only samosas and doughnuta. The tea cups w... Read more

As another user posted, this is a solid choice in my book. Rooms are large, aircon works very well, depending on which room you obtain, the views can be spectacular (or awful, again just depends - I've had both). Security is good for Tanzania. A coffee lounge in the main lobby is good to meet local contacts. The pool is great for after work to unwind with a nice bar area as well. Breakfast is typical buffet, good selection, and made to order omelets and pancakes available. The staff at th... Read more

It is my first time of staying at Double Tree by Hilton and I was pleasantly surprised. I rank it among my top 5 business travel hotels in more than 20 countries. From the service to the amenities everything is as should be expected by a business traveler. The only areas that need improvement are the wifi connection in the rooms, and the size of the gym. The gym is too small to accommodate multiple users at the same time. Overall, it is a hotel that I will return to on my next trip to Dar Es Sal... Read more

Having made a reservation for December it reminded me that I had clean forgot to do a review from my last stay in May. I had been pre-allocated a suite and arrived at the hotel early - about 9am. The current occupants had not left out, and knowing that I had travelled overnight from Europe, Vanessa on reception said that the only suite unoccupied was the presidential suite, so would I mind having that so I could rest - fantastic customer service from here. And what a beautiful suite it was - vas... Read more

This hotel is a charming boutique hotel tucked within narrow streets at a great location in Stonetown. PROs Friendly hotel staff always eager to provide solutions to every problem no matter how small or big. The wrong attitudes from hotel staff are sure to mar a hotel stay Suprisingly spacious standard rooms contrary to reviews. These rooms provide every modern convenience and the decor retains the simplicity and modern feel associated with the Hilton brand. There are also traditional Zanzibar... Read more

The reception process, room and environment is very good and clean. However, I found the quality of food preparation not very appetizing. I like the sea side, ambience, good security and responsive hotel employees. The check out time was flexible and convenient for our departure time. Thank you.

I was there for just short of a month. I can not say enough about the cooperation, understanding and flexibility this hotel gave me and my colleagues. From the day I met the GM to all the other wonderful staff from the front desk manager to the food and services manager and the staff that worked for them made our stay exemplary. The housekeepers were understanding and helpful with maintaining privacy yet keeping us supplied with coffee, tea and water. The grounds (outside bar & pool) is spectac... Read more

I was here for almost 2 weeks and was floored by the courtesy and friendliness of the staff at the hotel. The reception staff are simply fantastic and acknowledge you every-time you walk in or out of the hotel by name. The staff at the restaurants esp. at the bar next to the pool are exceptional hosts. Everytime i went to the bar next to the pool i was greeted by name and they would either find a place for me in the area by the bay or would seat me at the bar and keep me conversationally occupi... room was large and well equipped but faced the car park and not the sea. Noisy with rubbish truck at 1100pm, talking by security guards and drivers. Breakfast was repetitive and small selection. Staff were helpful.

I'm here for almost three weeks for work. The hotel is nicely situated along the sea side with a small shopping complex right next door including exchange, supermarket and bank. The hotel is quite impressive and is spread across two buildings. The ruins are very large with lots of space to move around. The bed is just right however the bathroom looked old and water didn't drain properly from the bath tub nor shower. The hotel complex is large and has a beautiful pool.although the gym was ridic... I went to Dar essalaam just for 1 night and lived in Double tree by hilton. It's the very good hotel connected to the beach and has a spot that you can relax and take a photo with. Good breakfast with fresh fruits especially unlimited coconut !! You can walk to Slipway within 5 mins. But something else I prefer taxi to walking because of the safety.

Hotel: not the best location but we didn't had any unsafe feeling. Even when we walk outside in the street. Staff: friendly people, nice smile, perfect English. But sometimes you need to have some patience. Room Large rooms, good bed, airco, large bathroom some of them with a shower others with bath and shower. Everything was clean and when you close the curtains it is dark. So some extra points for this. Food/drinks: Great food and drinks. They have some fantastic ginger beer (Stoney tanga... Read more
