I was visiting Taipei for a brief work trip (from Hong Kong) and decided to bring the family. The hotel is in a good central location. The hotel was just what you would expect of a Westin. The rooms were solid. No breakdowns...we had face towels everyday. Service was good. Wi-fi was solid. For families, the best feature was that there was a movie theater in the basement set up like a Studio Grill. There were couches and ottomans. You could order food and drink. The movies were current ... Read more

The reception need some serious make over in term of service and efficiency. We spent some good 15 min standing over the counter just to wait to be registered on a hotel stay that's fully paid for !!!!! To add insult to injuries we have two senior citizens with us waiting!!!! The reception officer doesn't seem to know what to do and had to make several corrections before we are finally given our keys and rooms.

If you like local Taiwanese food, there are many old shops with delicious food around the hotel, and they are next to 2 big train station and many shopping mall nearby. Hotel room is big, and spacious and clean. The internet is ok, just a little slow, but not too bad if you are not watching video. There are also night food street and pubs nearby.

Was in town for a business trip so the location was excellent and very convenient. There is a subway station within walking distance and dining options outside the hotel as well. Service was excellent. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly and professional. Good location for this older but very classic hotel. This hotel is the first that claimed a 6-star ranking in Taipei. I like the branch restaurant it featured as well as the fantastic bakery inside. Both will send you right into ecstasy!

Hotel front desk was very attentive and polite. However ask them anything regarding places to eat or go out, they were relatively useless. Rooms were average for US standards, but sub par for what one would expect from major brands in Asia. Depending on purpose of travel I would recommend the hotels by 101 or Ann He road. Most the hotels better price and larger rooms Breakfast buffet was large but selection and quality VERY Poor. Hotel restaurants and bars were very disappointing but decent ... Read more

The Westin Taipei was a great experience. I started with the fastest check in I have ever experienced. The room was very clean and roomy. The breakfast was incredible with a combination of Chinese and western dishes....simply delicious. The only critical feedback that I have for the visit is that this service in the lounge are was slow...but the food was good. All in all, I would definitely return.

Overall speaking, the staff here is friendly. We booked the meeting room and it's a Sat and the sales is not here, the front desk staff helped to call the banquet staff and the banquet colleague let us see the venue in advance and help to make the change. And I ordered some goods to be delivered to hotel, the staff is very helpful too. The location is quite good, the MRT is just right in front. The hotel is not big but it gives you a peaceful feeling.

The Westin Taipei is an Oasis in this busy and beautiful city. Escape from the crowds and relax in this extremely comfortable setting located in downtown Taipei near business and shopping. Great restaurants, good value, excellent club room, and clean and comfortable hotel rooms make this hotel a top choice for our business travel in Taipei.

Besides all the great stuff that had already been written, my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the unannounced turn down service when we returned after a late dinner at another hotel. Fresh towels and extra bottles of water were provided and the trash bins were cleaned. We had left in a hurry for the dinner and had left the room in a mess. This was such a pleasant surprise especially when the tip we left behind in the morning was not even taken. Should had stayed longer as there are enoug... Read more

Its an old property with not such a great layout... The rooms were pretty good and the bed was as heavenly as advertised and the highlight of the hotel are the staff. Attentive, caring and a perpetual smile on their faces. Location is pretty decent with the train station nearby and a number of great roadside restaurants. Not in the most central district but its not a bad location either. Le Meridien is said to be the best SPG property and is more centrally located albeit a little pricier. Thi... Read more

I really enjoy this hotel and their executive club level is one of the best in Taiwan. The club level has many fine amenities including butler service for ironing clothes, shoe shies, and just about anything else within reason. I spent this entire week at the Westin in Taipei. My colleagues prefer it for their points program. The staff barely speaks English and the chefs in the concierge level lounge speak none - despite the fact that you need to order from them. For example, I ordered a plain omelette and received an onion omelette. The food that they serve cannot be confused with anything served in the U.S. (Scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes, sausage submerged in water, odd chicken knuckle dishes, etc.) You co... Being an IHG top tier customer I was not able to find an appropriate hotel in Taipei, a colleague recommended this hotel instead - although I am an SPG member it's been a while since I stayed at the Westin range - pleasant reminded. The service was excellent, rooms spacious and comfortable and the gym was well run - I think will be revisiting this range across the region

The Westin Taipei has excellent rooms, great bars particularly the Churchill Bar. There is a good range of restaurants in house ranging from European, Japanese, Chinese and Italian. The conference facilities are world class and the catering for delegates was very good. The only downside for a top level international hotel is some of the staff may speak a bit of English but often the could not comprehend 100%. Taipei Wow! It was my first time to Taiwan and I love the place. Its a cross between Japan and China. The Westin Hotel was very good quality, might in for a general freshen up in the rooms and general public areas. Its still an excellent choice whether its for business or personal travel. The hotel is central and 5 mins away from the small night market. The Westin has a great menu and a fabulous bakery outside the lobby.... I would definately stay in the Westin Taipei again without question.

Excellent location , subway is right around the corner, two munites walk. Will come back again . Last but not least , gym... Read more

I have been staying in this hotels for over one-half decade, had stayed countless nights, dined and hosted numerous meals here. My loyalty was earned from their years of consistent uncompromising personable care and support. I used to feel completely at home, was treated like a family member and they always went the extra miles to make sure my needs were met. It was no doubt one of my favorite hotels in Asia. Thing started to degrade when the hotel experienced full occupancy due to influx of Chi... Read more

Room smelled of smoke, despite the entire hotel being 'non-smoking'--new room (requested because of smoke smell) was older and not as nicely appointed. Despite the friendly staff, the hotel ambiance was not particularly welcoming. No map of immediate area available. No written description of hotel amenities and restaurants in the room. Towels not as nice as less expensive hotel nearby. When asked for help with local restaurants, staff pointed out there was no need to look outside of (extrem... Read more

I used to stay only at SPG hotels but since the merger with Marriott I feel like the service level and quality has come down considerably. Room service menus reduced. Lighting not intuitive in rooms. Breakfast set up all over the place. Very business feel. But I will give them points for responding to some extraordinary service requests I had. Overall though miss the SPG experience.

Not the cheapest of hotel. However for the price you pay, you get to stay in a very convenient location. Every place I wanted to go was a short metro ride away. The staff were excellent. Always helpful never interruptive. The facilities such as the gym and pool was good enough even if you were to stay here for months. I was a SPG Gold member and my status was recognised and I was given all my benefits. In short, probably one of the best hotels to stay in Taipei if you were willing the spend t... Read more

I am not a very frequent business travellor. But, i had biz trip to taipei about once a quarter. I stay at Shangri-la during my previous 6 or 7 trip to taipei. So, I asked myself why I don't try some other hotel this time. I booked Westin for 4 nights stay this time. I like the room decoration after i checked photo on Tripadvisor. Also, I like the bed at Westin, which they called i 'heavenly'. I was not disappointed. The room is exact same as what I saw from the photo. it is quite big. toilet ... Read more

Stayed here 3 nights though expensive as Taipei busy this time of the year I thought the hotel was very nice. As usual I do recommend getting an Executive Room to have access to the Executive Lounge which is a must for me and there are only a few hotels in Taipei with this facility. Don't go to the Churchill Bar though, find a better more reasonable bar nearby the hotel. They will only allow you to sit at a table for the exact amount of people in your group ( which may be one at a weekend! ) des... Read more

In my recent stay, I found a change in the service level. It has improved and this prompted my review. The staff are friendlier and helpful. There are more smiles compared to the past. This is esp so for concierge. If you like big rooms, you may consider Westin.

The rooms need some update and they have a serious problem with the vacuums lots of hairs all over the carpet, bathroom floor, bathtub, shower we let them know about this while there and they sent housekeeping immediately to clean they had to do it twice the night we arrive and the next day we have to tel gen to please do it again because there were still lots... Traveling for business so selected a location with colleagues, should have chosen differently. Service is horrible. They ruined a brand new $108 t-shirt I bought right before the trip when taking it to launder. It came back with four holes in random places front and back - they claimed were already in it. Even tried to tell me that because the shirt had a "distressed look" (on the trim - aka neckline, bottom seam) which they found as going as far as to call to designer that it meant the com... During a recent visit I used my Platinum upgrades for 4 nights at this Westin. The indoor heated pool was out of commission - but of course they do not tell you ahead of time. The Executive Lounge leaves much to be desired in terms of food and beverage quality and selection. The decor and ambiance are top-notch, however. The staff, while very nice, are inflexible. The men's wet area in the fitness center is showing signs of being well-past its prime. The room was nice enough but also showi... Read more

Getting in late at night, the options nearby are quite limited when it comes to food. The hotel is a business hotel and has the expected comforts of one. We ate at the club lounge which was a bit disappointing in terms of choice but the quality was nice. The location of the hotel however is a bit far from POIs. There is a MRT station nearby and some chain restaurants are within walking distance. The concierge was nice in helping us book a restaurant for dinner and tried several times to secure ... Read more

Nice hotel, good service, good restaurants: Danieli's has good Italian cuisine prepared in front of you. Set lunches are tasty and attractive compared to the nirmal menu. There is always a meat (generally beef sirloin) and fish (grilled salmon, very tasty!); it starts with the soup of the day, a small pasta portion, the main dish, dessert and coffee in the set menu. Chinese restaurants are top as well. For an extra NTD 2000.- you access the biz lounge which includes breakfast and open bar durin... Read more

My partner and I had the pool and spa all to ourselves. The palace museum is itself reason to visit Taipei. This hotel is icing on the cake. The Chinese restaurant associated with the restaurant is nice and is quite popular. But as in a lot of Chinese restaurants, if you order the Peking Duck, make sure they carve the whole duck right before you, and not carve some and then take the rest to carve "back stage" brining you fritters plus rice.

On the one hand service is good, it's comfortable, the breakfast buffet has a decent selection of food and the third floor has a good bar called Churchill. So what were the issues? The minor issues were that the hotel looks a bit dated especially in the rooms. Don't get me wrong, it's clean and tidy but could do with an upgrade. A lot of the furniture in the room had scratches everywhere, the aircon unit looked like it was falling out of the ceiling and the lamp was old, loose, falling over and ... Read more
