We stayed here for 1 night only and very glad that we didn't stay longer. It is extremely basic, with need of update urgently and for the price paid its not worth it and would recommend staying somewhere else. There is plenty of choice and this really is no value hotel. The service from reception was average. I wouldn't say friendly or helpful. The heating is turned off at night however you can request a portable heater. The beds are small and my partner who is 6ft couldn't fit in the bed and t... Read more

Room average, Service poor, But clean and comfortable. Only hazard is breakfast. Its outside the hotel a little distance. Food quality good but number of item is not satisfactory. Multiple entartaing shop availble within a little distance from hotel.

This hotel is clean, the rooms are a bit small and there are no frills. However, you are close to dining, shopping, the tram and railway station. The staff was friendly and Steven went above and beyond to make sure that my friends and I were comfortable. I gave it 3 stars because you can hear the traffic and bell tower outside; so wear your ear plugs. Certain rooms can also hear the roller club next door. If you want to be close to the hustle and bustle, this place is perfect. There's a great ... Read more

I wouldn't stay at this place if you paid me. It's clean enough and pleasant enough at first glance... but then at 11pm I discovered that it's situated right next door to a nightclub which goes on till 3am! This was on a Wednesday night as well when I had to work the next day. The music was incredibly loud with the mirror in my room vibrating, the glasses on bathroom shelf shaking and me utterly unable to sleep. I complained of course but the night manager told me with a pathetic smile that I ... Read more

We were in Zurich for 2 days with our 11 month old baby. This hotel is placed in a great location where it is walking distance from the main train station (Z├╝rich Hauptbahnhof) and bus station (Sihlquai Bus Terminal) which was the meeting point for the tours. Rooms are spacious with heaters, TV, and tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast is served in a near by restaurant (Millenium) and the staff there are very friendly and food is great. The front office manager of this hotel seemed a bit arr... Read more

The hotel is very near to the main train station which is the best part about the hotel. I dont know if its not required or just the culture there but the hotel staff were very casually dressed. But the rooms were good and their service was also upto the mark.

I can't agree with the negative comments, as I found this hotel good value, excellently placed for all parts of the city and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything you would want to see is within walking distance or you can catch a tram outside the door. Breakfast was plentiful and good value - OK we had to cross the street to get to the restaurant, but it was no problem. Recommend it.

We were there for a day stay with my family of 4. We booked a triple room and they landed up charging 30 Swiss Franks extra without breakfast ( originally we were booked without breakfast) and any additional service for the 4th kid. Staff and services are not accustomed to handle family stays for sure. We asked for a refill of tea bags and creme but we're refused saying we only do it once a day. Though a good location from approachability from station standpoint but away from the city and if on... Read more

Not good. Only three advantages. 1 close to train station. 2. Clean. 3. A couple of the reception staff were very helpful. Suggest you only stay one night. Price is reasonable. There is noise from a nightclub in the building. There is no airconditioning. They have a system whereby you hand in your key each time you go out.

The X-TRA hotel is a short walk from the main train station and is on the tram line if you have a lot of luggage. We have stayed there many times. The rooms are a good size and a clean and bright and the staff are helpful. Try to get a room on the opposite side from the church as the clock bells chime all night and there is disco some nights. We were in a room on the quiet side and didn't hear the bells. There is a bar and a vegetarian restaurant ... Aimed at a young crowd. There wasn't a di... Read more

The rooms are equipped with only bare necessities. Rooms more resembles like wooden cabins. Bath room and toilet are congested. Breakfast is arranged across the road in a small joint and not something great. The hotel is situated close to the starting point of city tour and to the rail station. There are a few Indian restaurants nearby.

Very simple and in not updated. Rooms are noisy from the tram, poorly sound proofed. The TV is prehistoric and really small. Have not seen a tube TV for ages. However. It is clean and everything is working, room size is also OK There are better places for the price.

The staff here were very friendly. This hotel is one street over to the train and very close to the rest of the city. We walked everywhere. There is free wifi, but for breakfast you have to pay. Great option for travel on a budget.

I stayed twice at the X-TRA Hotel and overall my experience has been pleasant. Please note that in the very expensive city of Z├╝rich, X-TRA hotel is a very good budget choice if you don't mind sharing a bathroom. First of all, the bedrooms are good. Since I had been there twice and got two different bedrooms (both with shared bathroom) I will review them separately: Room #1 (window faces the back of the building): this room was surprisingly comfortable and with amenities such as a password-c... Zurich is not a cheap city, in fact its said to be the most expensive city in the world. We were in Zurich for one night to go to a concert and booked the Hotel Xtra. It's well located close to the train station and on a tram route with a tram stop very close by. There are plenty of places to eat or drink nearby. The room was basic but comfortable. We stayed on a very warm night so kept our windows open at night as there is no air conditioning, however for most of the night a couple of dri... Read more

Hotel is basic but very clean. No air conditioning but there was a fan in the room. Our room had an ensuite but not all rooms do. Reception staff are very helpful. Great location as there is a tram stop directly outside the hotel. Would definately recommend this accommodation.

Perfect for the one night we stayed. We were able to park the car outside the hotel on a Saturday and only paid till 1600. 2 hrs max. Did not eat at hotel but went into old town for food in. The afternoon. We swam in the river which was walking distance from the hotel which was great. Strong pull towards the what I suppose was a hydro dam but great fun and lovely weather. The hotel room was ok, extra bed for our daughter, and shower was great.

This hotel is close to Main Railway station and it has lot of restaurants and markets in walking distance. Worth for paying. Don't expect much facilities in hotel as it is very old. Front desk staff was not pleasant, they just work like machine.

Reception staff gave very little information about the hotel & it's restaurants & facilities, no menu in the room for the food, 1.5 kilometers from any restaurants except for a fast food across the street, the area was far from clean. to expensive for the sevice & emplacement.

It is not easy to evaluate this hotel, since it has many important pros but also a few important cons. Pros: It is very well-located (a ten minutes walk to Zurich's Main Station), the staff members are very nice and attentive and the rooms are clean and comfortable (plus the free Wi-Fi). Cons: The hotel is located near a church and a club, which may prove a little bit annoying when you are trying to sleep (and you feel the slight vibration of the music). However, on the whole, I believe the X-Tr... Read more

It's been several times, that I stayed here. The reason is that it is close to my office. Did not expect much from the hotel, so basically it was OK. Last time I got a room on the top floor, that room was very small, and did not look that nice. (before I was on the 2nd floor, those rooms are much better, more modern). Sometimes evenings are not that calm, since the party place is next door, and you can hear the music - if you are not a good sleeper, then look for something else. (I think this do... Read more

Stayed here for a week in September. The hotel itself is staffed by nice people. The property is a cleanly run hotel, with rooms that have basic (if not Spartan) furnishings. Our group stayed in a triple, as rooms are very expensive in Zurich. The furniture was basic, but clean. The rooms lack electrical outlets, if you bring a lot of electronics to use... Even though the hotel has a concert/dance hall, and a bar/restaurant attached, I didn't hear any audible noise from these venues... Th... Read more

I wanted to visit Zurich and was intimidated by seeing so many hotels in the $300 to $500 per night range. I don't have Swiss Bank account money so I was trilled to find this hotel. It is in a good area close to the main train station and walking distance to most of the town. I paid $110 per night for a small room with a shared bathroom. The bathrooms were clean and I never saw someone in one. If you are looking for an affordable room in a great area, you can't miss with X-tra.

My stay was OK. The rooms were modern and clean. I had shared bathroom/shower but a sink in the room. The breakfast was ok, they weren't helpful with me being vegan, so I bought some groceries and brought to the breakfast place. Overall too expensive in my opinion for a single room with shared bathroom/shower. The best part was the vegan restaurant in next door, Elle'n Belle. Really good food!

Our travel agent suggested X-Tra Hotel when I went into meltdown at the sight of Zurich hotel prices, and we were very grateful for his advice. The hotel is within walking distance of the station, and very close to a tram stop. I wasn't overly keen on having to share a bathroom but that turned out to be no problem, and in fact I never saw anyone (except the cleaner) coming or going from the bathrooms. Everything was spotless and the rooms were comfortable and had a washbasin. Our rooms faced... Read more
