Hotels in Zurich are expensive and initially we were looking at taking two rooms as travelling with our young children. We were delighted to find that the Engimatt has a family room: massive double bed for us and two comfortable pull out beds for the children and plenty of room for suitcases and to move around. Very spacious bathroom too. The exterior blinds are great as ensure that the room is completely dark at the flick of a switch. The location for us was perfect in a quiet residential stre... Read more

We stayed here for a night as were on our way to Lucerne, but that was enough time to be impressed about this place. (March 2016) Located in a residential area this hotel is definitely quite. The hotel is a few minutes walk from tram line and i cannot stress the importance of proximity to Trams in Zurich. The train station Binz is walkable (10 mins). We took the train to Uetliberg from here. The Sihl City Shopping centre is close by which would help with little purchases. The Staff were very... Read more

We booked the Engimatt for two nights but within an hour of arriving we added another night. Great quiet green location, close to the centre. Lovely room, good size with everything you need. Felt like home away from home. Specifically loooooved the Nespresso Machine! Really friendly staff from reception right through to the restaurant. Helpful but not pushy in any way. One of the top hotel rooms we have stayed in in the last years... We ll be for sure recommending.

Zurich is expensive. We struggled to find a hotel near all of the sights. We settled on a hotel a couple miles from the tourist area in order to reduce costs and were pleasantly surprised. Our room was very nice sized more like a suite and looked really nice. The location was a quiet neighborhood a couple of hundred yards from public transportation. Breakfast was very good and the people/staff were very friendly and helpful. We were impressed with the level of service. We learned the bus ... Read more

47 rooms should not qualify being described as a boutique hotel, but this property has a definite boutique feel to it. Check-in, check-out, booking a taxi, seeking concierge-type advice are all dealt with at Reception by pleasant polite and knowledgeable staff. Housekeeping staff are equally pleasant polite and efficient. The restaurant is ably managed by a manager who is knowledgable polite friendly and hands on. Such service levels are normally found in top end boutique hotels. My Comfort ro... Read more

This was our favourite hotel in Europe. Our room was very modern, stylish and large. The staff were very professional and accomodating. Hotel Engimatt is located in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle, but walking distance to trams. We were also spoiled with the most delicious buffet breakfast. Thank you to everyone at Engimatt for giving us a memorable stay in Zuric. Del Australia

We stayed here for several nights and really enjoyed this hotel. Typically Swiss, clean, efficient, pleasant. Spacious rooms, very nice bathrooms. We happened to be there during the tri-annual Zurich Festival. An added bonus was the view of the fireworks out of our bedroom window. I will review the restaurant separately but it was very good!

I only have good things to say. I had an issue with my reservation (my fault) and the hotel staff very acommodating. Perfect location for both, business and pleasure. It's not cheap (as all hotels in Zurich) but great value. Highly recommended!

I stayed at this hotel with my wife to participate in Ironman Switzerland. The rooms were a reasonable size with modern ensuite bathroom, a small terrace, TV, minibar, free good quality wifi. We had a room at the back, which was quiet. There is parking in the basement but it is limited and they charge CHF20 per day. The hotel has one restaurant with a fantastic outdoor garden section. The food in general was pretty good and the staff are all great. The location was good in terms of proximity to ... Read more

We stayed at the hotel during the Ironman and the location was great for getting to the lake and into the city centre. Trams nearby and in a nice neighbourhood. Near to shopping centre with supermarket and selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Standard room is on the small side, superior rooms much larger. Shower hot and powerful and rooms very clean. Beds comfortable. Major issue was the a/c. We had 4 rooms and all the same. We were told several times that the a/c is centrally set a coupl... Read more

Staff is rude and unhelpful. You arrive at the hotel and no one helps with luggage even though the reception is one floor up and you have to climb stairs to get there. We were given a room with twin beds even though my wife and I had booked a double bed, as always. Staff insisted we had booked twin beds but said they would give us a double bed the next day. They didn't. When we checked in I had left my credit card in the car and I had to insist several times to get the key and send wife to roo... Read more

A bit more expensive corresponding to higher service level. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good bed, wifi working on 3rd floor (signal weaker with higher floors). Restaurant a bit expensive. Slower re-filling of morning buffer. Parking space limited when hotel fully booked. Great option to eat inside or in the garden. All floors accessible by elevator.

My husband and I just returned from spending a week at the Engimatt. We had a Comfort Triple Room that we shared with our daughter. The room was spotlessly clean, large, and light, with several large windows that opened onto quiet Engimattstrasse. Our daughter's bed was in a separate area off the main room. The hotel staff were extremely helpful as we made our daily plans, and they were a big part of making our trip enjoyable. It is true, as one person has commented, that the a/c is not strong ... This hotel has many positives however when we arrived we went down the corridor to our room (3rd floor) and I have never seen anything like it. There were holes in the ceiling with wires hanging down and planks of wood (waiting to be put around doors). I went down stairs to complain and ask if it was even safe. She said they were renovating. We should have been told this before coming in my opinion. If you stay here ask to stay on the 2nd floor. The renovations had been completed here and it loo... Read more

My visit was disappointing. It started with a long wait at reception before I could check in, and I was underwhelmed by the room I had - small bathroom, minute desk and little space to move around. On the positive side, the restaurant, which I only saw for breakfast is spacey, with the opportunity to enjoy outside seating.

The hotel is close to my office so I book it more or less every time I travel to Zurich. It's conveniently located near Sihl river, large shopping center and is 20min walk from downtown. I usually request rooms on 1st and 2nd floor, because bathtubs on 3rd are cramped (slanted roof is eating vertical space). Breakfast is nice - smoked salmon, variety of cheeses, baked goods, muesli, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, juices, great hot chocolate... Front desk stuff is helpful, with some caveats - t... Read more

Our long weekend break couldn't have been more enjoyable, thanks to the smooth running and courteous, kind and professional staff at the Engimatt. All the staff without exception were extremely helpful, kind and polite. As orthodox Jews out religious requirements were accommodated with no fuss and a genuine desire to ensure that our stay at the hotel was as enjoyable as possible. The kosher breakfasts and coffees were delicious and more than enough. The well appointed room was spacious, spotless... Read more
