Great little hotel! Super friendly staff - always eager to help. The rooms are very nice - new, clean, modern yet cosy. Excellent view of the Matterhorn - nice to see the sun rise on its side giving the mountain a golden glow. Delicious breakfast - plenty of choices, all fresh and local. There is a nice lounge with a fireplace, where you can enjoy free tea and home-made cake (try the plum cake - yum!). Location is good - close to the center and the slopes. We got an unexpected upgrade to a Matte... Read more

It may not have a full blown spa, but this hotel has fabulous views, right smack in your balcony. My husband reserved the room with a view of the Matterhorn. The room is compact and clean. The staff are friendly and accommodating - upon check in, the front desk lady walked us to the 2nd floor and opened the room for us. It is a little walk from the train station so it is quiet from the noisy streets. I would recommend this hotel.

Hotel Phoenix is a nice place to stay in Zermatt. Its in a quiet location in town but set up to have some really beautiful views of the Matterhorn and surrounding mountains. Its reasonably priced and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Breakfast is included and they had a good variety of foods that would satisfy nearly everyone. The only set back I'd say was the size of the room. In the photos, they look deceptively large, but in person - not so much. Felt a little cramped s... Read more

This was our 3rd stay at the Phoenix ?? I travelled with 2 friends on our annual boys?? ski weekend. The hotel is modern and clean and very aesthetically designed with wood / glass ?? it is situated in a quiet part of Zermatt (Sunnegga side), it only takes less than 10 minutes to walk to the Sunnegga funicular or the town centre. The rooms are very comfortable and most of them offer a balcony with a view of the Matterhorn. The beds are very comfortable too. The ground floor bar is great an... Read more

We toured though Switzerland and visited a small section of Germany and Austria staying in 5 different locations (Lindau, Seefeld, Lucerne, Zermatt, Lacarno and Lugano) We didn't feel that the Hotel Phoenix lived up to expectations or represented good value for money. One night here was more than 2nights accommodation in The Hotel Ardara in Lindau, or marginally less than a night in the 5* at Lugano, and the Phoenix was not comparable with those hotels. Staff at The Hotel Phoenix were friendly... Read more

Very nice decor, newly refurbished, and incredibly clean. Hairdryer in bathroom, wifi very good. Breakfast lovely with a lot of fruit, pastries, cheese incl cottage cheese, smoked salmon, pickles herring, cereals, etc. The eggs are atrocious though, runny and tasteless, but everything else makes up for it. Unfortunately the staff could be a bit more friendly. The tone that they sometimes use to talk to you is a bit offputting. Also, when I asked if I could use the tea and coffee machine nearby r... Really enjoy my stay at this hotel. It is a little way from the center of town, but we had a wonderful view of the Matterhorn since we were a little elevated. The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive. They have a very warm and comfortable lounge area off the lobby where they have a bar where you can enjoy a nice bottle of wine or your favorite spirits. I highly recommend this hotel. Good value for the money.

This hotel is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. It's one of the few hotels that makes you feel at home. The staff are beyond great and accommodating. It has a cozy lounge area. The rooms are comfy and clean. We've stayed here more than once and will stay in it again without a doubt.

Hotel is about 5 to 10mins walk from train station. But you can pre book transport at 5 sf per pax. Comfortable room size, clean with good breakfast. Hotel staff is friendly and very helpful in many aspects such as assisting with travel info. Christine who mans the counter is a GEM! Gym goers will find the facilities awesome, the best I have seen in most hotels including 5* ones. Just remember it closes at 9pm.

We arrived in Zermatt before lunch and we were able to check in the hotel earlier than expected. The manager was very friendly and spoke English. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The biggest surprise was when we went onto our balcony and had the best view of The Matterhorn. The breakfast was excellent and had hot and cold options. Probably the best breakfast we've had in Switzerland.

This hotel really hits the buttons - stylish, modern, cosy and warm, with lovely staff and decor. Room are of a high standard and ours opened onto a large terrace. Not too far from the town and easy for the station. The biggest plus is the breakfast - loads of fresh fruit, large chunks of Swiss cheese, warm, freshly baked break and a wide array of cold meats and smoked fish.. Highly recommend.

What do you want? Rooms with Matterhorn views? Check. (a few...) Best-in-class breakfast? Check. Something other than the cliche Zermatt faux-chalet Swiss-kitch decor? Check. Excellent, helpful staff? Check. In the heart of Zermatt? Weeeelll, not quite. It's certainly a quiet location, and it's not a slog up a hill like some other newish properties, but it is about a 5+ minute walk from the bahnhof and about 10-15 minutes by foot to the better restaurants. Not exactly an crushing burden, but wor... Read more

We stayed here for 2 nights in July. Our room was very comfortable and we could see the very top of the Matterhorn from our balcony (which looks so bright and beautiful at sunrise!). The staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Breakfast was decent, standard for Europe. The location was also good - an easy walk to/from the train station, the cable car to get up into the mountains, and the Main Street with shopping and restaurants. I really enjoyed my stay here and would definite... Read more

Truly a great place to stay in Zermatt. Reasonably priced and easy walking distance from the station and the town. Staff were very friendly and helpful with plenty of tips for hiking in the area. We had room with view of the Matterhorn, and well worth it to see the sunrise from your window!! Highly, highly recommend!! (photos attached were taken from our room..)

This establishment has a contemporary and clean atmosphere with modern interior and good beds. The location a few minutes walk from the centre makes it calm. From the patio you have a marvelous sight of Matterhorn. The breakfast offers everything you might wish for. We would definitely return when in Zermatt.

The room was really very nice with fantastic views to the Matterhorn. The beds/pillows are really good. The restaurant service provided during the breakfast was EXCELLENT.. a 5 STAR for the staff at the breakfast area. A very calm and relaxing prevailed in the hotel. The reception staff is extremely helpful and is manned from 8AM-10PM.

We stayed at Hotel Phoenix while in Zermatt for the Ultraks Moutain races. A little outside of the main drag (7 minute walk to the main street, if that) meant that we had all the access to the night life but with none of the noise when we wanted to turn in. The hotel were really accommodating - they gave good dietary advice for the dairy intolerant and offered and provided soya milk in the morning - something that has never happened so readily before. The breakfast was plentiful and yummy, the w... Read more

Stayed here for 3 nights in room 103. This level is downstairs from the lobby and has a terrace rather than balcony. But we were on a budget so you can't expect the same view of the magnificent Matterhorn. That being said, we just walked outside a bit, looked left and had great views anyway. As per most places we've stayed in Switzerland, no bar fridge or kettle. Also no face washer (flannel) but only two hotels so far have provided these. The breakfast was the best so far. Included hot foo... Read more

We spent 2 nights after arriving with glacier express at the evening. It was a short and pleasant walk from train station, easy to find, but there is a short uphill section so if you pulling heavy luggage you may ask hotel to come get you with their electric car or take a taxi. Hotel is not on Main Street so quiet at night. Rooms were nice with rather small shower but clean and nice. Very comfortable beds ( be aware there are two single beds pulled together to make one big one, with wood divider... Read more

We came in on the Glacier Express under cloudy skies and light rain, and smiled at the very nice receptionist's hopeful wish that our Matterhorn-view room would have a view. We were there only two nights, and since the Matterhorn is something like Mt. Rainier (80% of visitors go away without seeing the mountain), we wondered. Still, we went to bed that first night in what turned out to be the best beds on our trip (out of five different places), and got up the next morning to bright sun on t... Read more

A year ago we visited Zermatt and stayed in the Hotel Phoenix, so without hesitation, we reserved a room again for five nights in September. Beautiful room with view from balcony of the Matterhorn, excellent and very cordial service, and wonderful, generous breakfast buffet. The rooms are lovely, contemporary in style, immaculate. We highly recommend the hotel as well as its location in gorgeous Zermatt.

The Hotel is slightly away from the station but a short walk away. The rooms are cozy and the staff at the reception is very courteous. It was raining that morning so we couldn't go up to see the matterhorn but the staff showed us plenty of things to do in the village and they also provided us extra blankets. The breakfast spread was lavish but little for vegetarians to chose from. Overall the staying experience was pleasant and memorable!

We recently returned from a 4 night stay at the Hotel Phoenix and were delighted to book room 506. Our wish for staying in Zermatt was to have a balcony and our room was equipped with two balconies and a lovely view of the Matterhorn. Cocktail hour on the balcony with the mountains in the background can't be beat. The location is perfectly close to the train station and downtown. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the coffee and breakfast were great. We inadvertently left a few items ... Read more

It is a good hotel and it is little walking from train station so if you having children or heavy luggage then take the electrical taxi as the road to hotel is little high climb (not difficult). The hotel is very quiet and the staff is very friendly and supportive. The breakfast is good and typical swiss breakfast. The hotel could have provided a bottle of shampoo and body gel for shower as the small pouch will never be enough for a kid also. Hope the management think on this. This is a typical ... Read more

Zermatt is a beautiful mountain town. No cars, no trucks, no big buildings for a total change of scenery. Not the average ski resort with a beautiful view on the Matterhorn (when not too cloudy). So of course the Hotel Phoenix is not a big complex but a very charming hotel. Located at walking distance from the center (10 min) and the free ellectric shuttle (5 min) that will take you to the fisrt ski lift. The hotel is beautiful and modern. You can relax and enjoy a drink at the lounge and bar.... Read more
