Superior room with view of Matterhorn. Very comfortable and just big enough for 2 women with a lot of luggage. Excellent half board. Great service and nicely prepared and served kitchen every evening. We were treated like VIPs at this hotel and the variety of the menu and the cooking was very much appreciated. We ate every evening meal at our hotel and it was always a different and enjoyable experience. All hotel staff were very professional and friendly to us. I took a massage with Marisa which... Stayed in Pasadena apartments ?let by Swiss hotel ?metropole hotel ?hotel alpha??? Confused we were. 1960s amenities Next door to noisy all night railway. No kettle microwave toaster. 1 thin pillow each no plug for sink. Same towels all week. No lights outside property. Too noisy for one of our party who stayed elsewhere. It was clean dated poorly fitted out no commas to whichever reception we were attached to. Some sort of tax levied and taken without consent at the end. Bit of hike from the s... Read more

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. The staff are very attentive. The hotel is very close to a bus for skiers to get to the slopes and an almost flat short walk to the town centre. For a non-skier, the pool and jacuzzi are great and the complimentary tea and cake from 3pm to 4 pm was very welcome. Note that a single room is only just over half the price of a double room, so for parties with odd numbers of guests it is great.

Normal hotel. Probably should be 2 stars if not for the swimming pool. Room are very small for the price or the price is really expensive for the room. Family is ok but Person at taxi very rude. You could find same kind of place at much lower price in Zermatt

Excellent location, wonderful breakfasts, and lovely service from staff. The pool and spa is a great 'plan B' when the weather is not the best. I stayed in the accompanying 'budget' version (Hotel Alpha, which belongs to Metropol) and it was quiet, cheap and clean. Just what I needed for a busy weekend. I didn't need the 3 star luxruy, just a place to sleep, demolish a wonderful breakfast and have an active day outdoors. The only negative feature is the awful smell of moth balls in the shared WC... We stayed at the Metropol for a 3 day weekend to visit Zermatt and the surrounding peaks. The hotel is 5 minutes far (walking) to the Zermatt and Gornergratt station. There is also a bus stop to get to Glacier paradise right across the street. The Rothorn cable car start is 3 minutes far. The hotel itself is extremely cozy, with very nice and polite staff (from the reception staff to the cleaning ladies, including waiters, cooks, etc). You can see the Matterhorn from the restaurant and the spa... Read more

This property is a super boutique hotel. We were treated like family. With about 20 rooms and great staff, we really enjoyed our visit. The restaurant is the super surprise, with a great staff, great food and a super fondu, what's there not to like!!

My husband and I came here last week. My extended family have stayed in the hotel many times and we always come back for more. It is an extremely comfortable and friendly family-run hotel, very centrally located and with a swimming pool and spa. Our room had a lovely balcony with great views of the Matterhorn. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious with a wide choice of food to cater for every taste. There is also an ample boot room to store skis. You can either eat or eat out in the eve... Read more

I traveled to Zermatt to get a few last turns in for the season after a business trip. The hotel was VERY conveniently located - between the train station and Sunegga lifts. Marina was a tremendous help in getting me settled and organized throughout my stay - and always with a bright and sunny disposition. I highly recommend this place - having a really nice spa, free wifi and a breakfast makes this a very good value in a normally quite expensive resort.
