It's my 2nd visit to this hotel. The first time I had founded a room very dated and with a lot of lack of maintenance. The maintenance was made but the rooms still need to be renovated. The price is a bit high for the room you will found. The positive point is the environment, the views, the staff and the breakfast!

It can be a perfect choice if you look for a kind of retro palace mood. Of course it needs a little refresh but from lobby and dining room you get a nice view on the lake. Service is nice and efficient. Rooms are OK and large enough. Of course a view on Lake can be a best if you can get one. Breakfast is nice. Price of rooms is not so expensive to get a Palace mood. You can also rent a parking in front of hotel for 25 CHF

Being my first time abroad and so, of course, my first time to Switzerland, I wanted to stay somewhere unforgettable. This was! The staff are multilingual so there was no problem in communicating with them, even after attempting French! They were very friendly and certainly made talking to them a breeze - they remembered who we were and gave us our key without having to ask when needed. The service seemed personal and always with a smile. The room itself was a little old-fashioned but kept imm... Read more

Walking through the front doors of the Eden Palace hotel is a little underwhelming but walk up the stairs on the left and you are met with a great view of the main reception area. The hotel doesn't look like it's be restorated for quite some time but it is by no means unloved. The beauty of this place is that is holds true all is character by being well worn but not tatty. The staff are excellent. Polite and helpful in so many ways. We were staying in a double room with lake view with a single... Read more

We are a couple in our 60s. This was our first visit to Switzerland. We booked a short spring break in Montreux on a whim and picked the Hotel EPaL on price and availability. On the whole we enjoyed ourselves - and we think we received fair value for money. It was nice on arrival to receive free local passes, ready printed-up with our names and duration of stay: free travel on local buses and trains, a 50% discount on lake ferries and various local attractions For us the Hotel scores 4.5 stars f... This classic hotel right on the banks of Lake Geneva has splendid location with beautiful and stunning views. Our Room was with balcony overlooking the lake and had great views of sunset. Rooms are fairly large in size with all necessary amenities, very comfortable beds and clean bathroom. Hotel provides free wifi and free transport card for the duration of stay. It is about 10 minute walk from the station and 2 minute walk to Casino. Good restaurants, shopping centres and fast food joints locat... Read more

The view from the balcony overlooking Lake Geneva is magical. The rooms are large and old world style. The whole hotel is exudes this old world charm. Parking may be an issue (we had to park in a shopping centre car park) and despite the promotional material stating that valet service is available, this was not the case. Front office staff were pleasant but not very helpful unless pushed for information and the restaurant staff needed some training. The location is perfect for transport and sigh... Read more

Must have been a nice hotel 50 years ago but now its broken down, dirty and unkept. The beds are horrible to lie in, the bathroom is filthy and the sink full of cracks. The building looks great from the outside and the location is nice but no investments were done for some decades now. The hotel lives off its past but shouldnt charge like its still top notch - it is not

One of the best hotel with excellent location. Excellent views of the lake from the rooms or balcony. Rooms were really spacious and well attended too. Nice garden resturant. Breakfast was lavish and one of the best in Switzerland.Staff really friendly and competent. Could have spent a few more days if time allowed !!

Stayed at the Eden Palace au Lac for three nights. We had 3 rooms. The location of the hotel is very central and it is a beautiful hotel. The reception staff was very polite and helpful. They very kindly provided us with electric kettle but no tea bags and creamers ( you have to go buy that from the mkt) and no cups. You are told to go get cups from the restaurant downstairs. It is a 4 star hotel but they don't have enough Ice for their guests. A server Antoni in the restaurant/bar infact was qui... Read more

An old, ritzy hotel for the beau monde of yore. We stayed in their villa next door for the hoi polloi. It was very nice, clean, and had a nice view of the lake and promenade. A short walk to the boat dock and you are on your way to the Chateau de Chillon, which is well preserved and has a guided tour on tape. We listened to every description of every room. A garden outside the chateau serves food andand drink. We were there on Swiss National Day, and the fireworks went off right above our hote... Read more

Set on the lake side this hotel, in its day, would have been 5 Star plus. Today, it is saved by location and room views onto Lake Geneva. Everything is tired, chipped or scuffed. The beds are comfortable and bathrooms large. The terrace and gardens offer so much but simply do not deliver in terms of comfort and quality of service. Food in the restaurant, served outside, was well presented and tasty. Not the cheapest but on a rainy evening it was an easy option for us.

Stayed for 2 nights, nothing to complain about. With renovation this Hotel would be a 4-5 star Hotel but most likely the prices would increase as well. I was lucky to get a room with lake view, fantastic!

Stayed here for the Freddie Birthday Party. Fantastic Hotel, everything was available when you asked (kettle and iron free of charge). Shops, bars, Casino and Freddie Mercury's statue all a short walk away. Didn't partake in breakfast or dinner but it is all available also. Will hopefully revisit next year.

Amongst the best location in Montreux....perched right at the lakeside. The hotel has a Heritage feel to it. Our lakeside suite had a balcony overlooking the lake and the Apls. The Panorama is breathtaking. The decor has a nineteenth century feeling to it. You could easily spend a whole day sitting at the balcony or strolling the lakefront. To some finicky tourist it might appear that the property needs some upgrade. But I would hate any modrnization....it will not go with the surroundings at al... Read more

I stayed there with my family. I love that they have a family room and we don't have to get an additional room for the kids. They are very well located but the hotel is getting too old. they need to refurbished a bit. it's also not nice that they have flying blue logo on their desk but when im trying to claim from flying blue the points from the hotel i can't get it cos it's not accredited so that was a bit disappointing.

The hotel is like an aged lady with grace and style. It is by no means a cynical comment. The hotel really lives up to it's name as a Palace. The lobby, the decor, the garden, the rooms itself all had style. Room is big and we were lucky to have one looking out to the lake. The atmosphere is most relaxing and the staff are friendly. The reason why I said 'with age' is that some of details in the room is a bit worn out but by no means not workable. The price is quite reasonable by Swiss standard ... Read more

I stayed here for 3 nights for a special occasion. The staff were very helpful and friendly. All my requests were granted with a smile and seemingly no effort. The room was amazing. I had the most magical lake and mountain views. A cute little balcony was the perfect place to enjoy my morning cup of tea and take in the glory that is Montreux. The room was spacious and well equipped. I did have a junior suite, though. A minibar fridge was a luxury not found in many other European hotels. No, t... Read more

I was in Montreux region for business. The only positive about my experience of this hotel is it's location (right on lake front). The room was smelly & dirty. The hotel wi-fi was poor. The service part needs improvement. Didn't have breakfast or dinner at the hotel. Hotel is in need of renovation.

Beautiful rich expensive hotel. Staff spoke English. We splurged to stay here with a view right on Lake Geneva. Well worth it. We had fantastic weather, wine on our balcony in the sunny afternoon and from our balcony watched the boats and people on the promenade. It was a lovey break in our 2 month vacation. Lots of restaurants around and walking is easy everywhere. From the train station there are two areas of stairs down to the water level (and to this hotel) and each set of stairs has either... So in reading some of the negative reviews I want to just say this is a old hotel, some of it has been restored and some probably is ready for an upgrade. If you don't like old hotels and want glossy modern - this isn't your spot. This hotel is however charming, has AMAZING staff and feels like a piece of history. The rooms are immaculately clean and have everything you need. The location can't be beat - right on the lake steps from the waterfront trail that leads to Chillon and beyond. It was w... Read more

This lovely old hotel is charming and comfortable. I have stayed here many times in the last twenty years. But now the Eden is in need of maintenance. The carpeting and furniture are dated and worn. But the beautiful architectural details are still there. The location is the best in Montreux, sitting right on the lake. Most of the hotels are across the street. And the views from the room are spectacular. I hope the the hotel will someday be brought back to it's old glory without losing it's... Read more

I stayed here for three nights during a business trip to Vevey and was a bit reserved after reading some of the negative reviews here but decided to give it a go. The hotel is charming and my room was really big. Yes, there were some stains on the carpet but what can you seriously expect from a hotel that is over a hundred years old? Some wear also adds to the authentic experience and it's only cosmetic anyway. My room was facing the city so the view wasn't good but the hotel is a few steps fro... Read more

The view is amazing, no doubt about it. The rate was a bit high. The service was great. However, there were a few things that lowered the rating I am choosing to give. Decor: Pink, dirty carpet. Gum worked in. The place is clean, but there is a lot of grime that needs a deeper clean to get out. The halls look exactly like a haunted house, with big mirrors and randomly placed chairs. Bathroom tiles were cracked and not set by grouting. Wifi was unbearably slow.
