this hotel was amazing. from the time i checked in, nothing was out of order. i extended my stay twice and they accommodated me. the staff gave me recommendations for restaurants and shops. the room had the most amazing view of the square, with floor to ceiling windows! and despite that, it was still very quiet in my room when i slept! nice mini bar, well stocked room.

We spent a weekend and were very satisfied with the stay in general. Very friendly and polite staff and good size of the room which was clean and in good shape. This hotel has a very central location crowded with a lot of people and a lot of outside restaurants so it can be a bit noicy during late evening and nights.

No wonder more reviews centre around the Avalon hotel than any other in Gothenburg! Everywhere a new experience seemed to lurk - outside our bedroom the painting by native painter Ernst Billgren wore a bum as a hat and if you sat in the deep egg shaped chair to view it you disappeared almost from sight. Beside the artwork another attraction was the rooftop pool which extended high above the cobblestone square and sent ribbons of rainbows over the guests sitting below. Quirky chairs and cushio... The welcome was extremly friendly (we arrived around midnight and I asked for a hot milk and it was done without any problem immediately). the rooms are very quiet, but not very big, nice bathroom with rainshower. Breakfast was excellent as lots of choice although every day the same. Overall a great place to stay as the hotel is located very centrally for a few days.

I have stayed at this hotel several times when on business trips and I am impressed that the hotel consistently delivers on such a high level. Everyone in the staff has been amazingly friendly and helpful, the rooms are well designed with lots of premium details. The designer of this hotel has really put in a lot of effort to create a personal and premium feeling. Every detail has been paid attention to - from the shoe horn to the bathrooms to the exclusive bed linen. The restaurant is also ver... Read more

Stayed here for three nights on business and it is overall a very impressive hotel. There were some downsides including no use of the pool in the evenings and too busy during the day meant no pool for me. Very strict rules on eating times also meant i was forced to eat out in the evenings when i preferred a meal in the hotel. Twice refused dinner at 8.55pm so went elsewhere. Noisy outside my room (107) and it seemed to be the chambermaids base as the trolley was continually placed there through... Read more

We had a great stay at this beautiful hotel. Nice weather and Håkan Hellstrøm made the weekend magical. The restaurant and bar in this hotel was a great place to hang out and right outside there were a lot of bars and restaurants.

It is never easy to find a hotel that has it all but we think this is a good choice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was quiet and artsy. The breakfast buffet was diverse and plentiful. I think we will explore more of these design hotels in the near future.

We stayed at this hotel expecting wonderful things however we were disappointed , the first night was dreadful music was so loud outside it felt the party was in our room . The music didn't stop until 4.00 in the morning . The hotel failed to inform us that there was a huge party in the pub which was opposite our room and the party would continue for the whole weekend . I asked if we could move and the hotel did move us for the next night however it was next to the lift which was slightly bette... Read more

Design and Feng Shui seems to be the only aspect that has gotten some attention in this hotel. The fact that it is a hotel can't have played a big role. The rooms are very unpractical - ice cold tile floors everywhere, the toilet lid covers the flushing button, the shower door has such big gaps that you flood half the bathroom if you take a shower and if you are above 195cm, then you better ask for a room without a bath tub as you will not fit under the shower in these rooms. And this is a new h... Read more

Just had a 2 night stay and it was even better than the first time. I was allocated room 69 and this is a superior - it has everything you need and more! The bed was a round double bed on a raised platform and the room also had a seating area and a bath and separate shower in the bathroom. There was also a mini gym in the room too. I was also welcomed by a lovely fruit and chocolate platter as it was my birthday the day before I arrived - lovely personal touch :). The breakfast was a great as pe... Read more

During Part 2 of our visit to Gothenburg, we had the pleasure of staying four nights at the Avalon hotel. I can't say anything but wonderful things about this one - happy to be more specific! Location: So central, it's crazy! Short walk from the train station. And you really can't miss it - just look for the gigantic illuminated pool you can spot from the street! Hotel Vibe: So great. Hipper than hip. Bright and colorful, but never overwhelming. Danish mid-century modern furniture, 70s p... Read more

The hotel was perfectly located and very close to the train station. We were only in Gothenburg for 2 nights but we never used any public transit, everything was right there. Beds were comfy and the decor was very fun. Rooftop pool area was very cool but the penthouse is right off of that area, so don't walk into their room like I did! Breakfast was included and it was a very good selection and variety of different things and everything tasted good. We will definitely be returning.

I can strongly recommend Avalon hotel. The location in the middle of Göteborg is just perfect. The services that the hotel offers is also worth mentioning. If you come with a car just order the parking service it's absolutely worth the money.

Me and my boyfriend booked this hotell bacause of the location and because they had a pool. The following day we wanted to go for a swim, but the pool was closed because of some difficulty with the chlorine. They didn't even give us a small compensation, which I think should be in order when you pay that kind of money.. we stayed there for three nights, and the pool was closed the entire time.. Good location though, and the staff were friendly

Excellent location and highly stylised this hotel is a dream for anyone into modern minimalist (Scandinavian) design. Roof top pool is an obvious feature but the hotel decor and layout enhance the feeling. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast good. Expensive but good.

At arrival, the friendly and quick frontdesk Staff, were already a good start for my 3 Nights stay. The Hotel is in a modern style, central located, the Culture museum as the shopping mall can all be reached in several minutes of walk. The internal restaurant, offer a small varity of dishes who are properly prepared and presented to the guest. The waiters and the waitresses were friendly and in my case had some good smalltalk whith them too. The Bar offers all kind of Drinks as usual but also ... Read more

So glad I chose this hotel above the others, as not all parts of Gothenburg are equal! There is a rough element to the city, especially towards the large shopping mall and central station! This hotel is a stone's throw away from the airport bus stop also. All the staff from reception through to the cleaning staff are polite and friendly and the breakfasts were fantastic, with a vast choice of, I think, organic foods. Everything you could possibly require and more. Our room could get a bit c... Read more

We were only here for 2 nights but enjoyed our stay. The room was a decent size but we couldn't get the hang of the air conditioning/heating! The swimming pool was tiny (smaller than it looks in the photos) and only open from 12 noon to 6.00 p.m. so no early morning dip. Good breakfasts - didn't eat dinner here though we nearly did. Staff very helpful.

This hotel belongs to the "design hotels" chain. However, so for it was the least impressive out of those visited already. Visited during "culture week" in Gothenburg - very old windows were not providing any king of acoustic isolation so it was hard to sleep. Substitute of desk in the room did not allowed to work. Hotel located in quite busy place - a lot of thing happening around, cannot be bored.

Stayed in a number of hotels in Gothenburg and this is my favorite. Great location, clean, comfortable, friendly staff and breakfast included. Just out the hotel is a great park, access to all the shopping, tons of restaurants and bars and historic stuff. Just a 10 minute walk from Haga.

The breakfasts in particular were really rather good - quality, range, options, variety. Some of front desk staff were particularly lovely - helpful, warm, friendly, knowledgeable. We're glad we stayed in the Avalon for the central location in particular as there was a certain safety felt from being central. Didn't use the pool as those days it was cold - it's for dipping rather than swimming - we did pop up to the terrace occasionally and there's a good view... and the art in the hotel is on th...
