Confirmed by rep and SAGA.It's a shame but think SAGA have been loosing money on it in the past. It's needs updating and maintenance. I hope the wonderful staff are kept on if it's sold as a going concern.Unsettling times for them. The laid back atmosphere is good if you don't like fuss. If you are expecting lots of energetic activities and lots of choices of food it's not for you. Also the food is mainly aimed at British tastes like rice pudding and roast beef! There is usually one local dish o... Read more

Another fantastic holiday at The Bel Jou, all the staff are fabulous, warm, friendly and fun. As a returning guest you are treated as a friend, my partner and I booked for next year whilst still enjoying our holiday. The Island is stunning, such warm welcoming people who love their island.

Just had my second holiday at bel jou and yet again it was top class. Met some young faces from last year. Elizabeth was on top form again an bel jou will miss her like a lot of the students she has taught over the years to enjoy themselves I hope like me young bel jou, swill remember her with fond memories. The staff again excelled themselves to do and help everyone and a special mention to Emmanuel the mini bus driver thanks for everything. I personally hope that not to many changes to hotel in... We both love our trips to the Bel Jou.We have been 3 times between May 15 and May 16.This included a fantastic Christmas break as well. We will hopefully be back next year to see everyone. This makes 7 visits. I really hope that because the Bel Jou has been sold it does not lose any of its charm and quaintness. The staff are second to none and Camilla and Navin the management team are excellent. To us it is not just a holiday it is going home to meet the family as that is how we are treated.

We booked through Saga and were contacted shortly before our holiday saying that the hotel had been sold but nothing would be different for our stay however things didn't quite work out that way. On arrival at the' meet and greet' we had a warm welcome from Camilla who explained the changes that would take place during our holiday as this was he first week of opening in the ' low ' season under the new ownership things would be slightly different, firstly only the first two bottles of water woul... We visited for the first time in August after the hotel had been closed for a month and sold to St James Club on 20 July. We had received a phone call fromSaga prior to our holiday, informing us of the sale but assuring us that nothing would change and we could expect the usual high standard of service. It turned out though that several benefits which were expected had been removed and shuttle bus services, packed lunches and bottled water which had previously been provided at no cost would in... This was our first Saga holiday and we were slightly unsure what it would be like. However, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. There was about 5 members of staff to welcome us and Rita the Saga rep. Rita was our rep for the majority of our stay and is the best rep we have ever had. We were unaware that Rita had not done this job before. She was very professional, always helpful with a lovely sense of humour. Very caring and nothing was ever too much trouble for her. It was ... I have recently returned from a 2 week stay at the Bel Jou . As stated in other reviews the hotel has recently changed hands and many changes have been implemented . Due to the perseverance of the Saga guests some of these were reinstated. In spite of these inconveniences ( especially the pool ), thanks to the superb staff and lovely friends I made, I had a thoroughly enjoyable time . I very much doubt that I will return to the Bel Jou ( mainly due to the massive increase in price and the very l... Read more

I have just returned from a week here and it was lovely. Mr room was 310 and had a great view and for me it was great as there was a tree outside with birds perching on perfect for photographs. The food was excellent and although I am not a breakfast person I enjoyed having toast and coffee in such a perfect setting and waited on by a sweet girl Nichole. I didnt miss a beach and if you need it there is a shuttle bus and various excursions including beaches. The pool was great and well used and ... Read more

In September 2015 I had a two venue holiday with the first week at The Club, St James, Barbados and the second following a Saga instigated transfer to The Bel Jou hotel in St Lucia. I have been to The Club Barbados many times and am returning in early October but have never been to St lucia before and was most keen to visit this beautiful island. The Bel Jou itself is fine, a clean, well run, neat and comfortable hotel but regretfully, it's location left me many regrets. When travelling abroa... Read more

20th Sept to 6th Oct 2016. A hotel like no other. The staff cannot do enough for you. What ever you want, you only have to ask. If there is a dance or you need a partner to play a game, either the staff will join you or find someone for you. This hotel requires the guests to get involved, no snobbery. The hotel works on staff and guests working and playing together, and it certainly works. Karaoke night is where the staff join the guests and everyone sings. It's a really nice place to be and I ha... Read more

Just returned from the Bel Jou hotel in St Lucia. A great pity that this hotel was sold by Saga. I had been twice before and the hotel is not the same as it was although it is difficult to pinpoint differences. The biggest change is in the courtesy bus services , these do not run as frequently as before and with the position of the hotel on a hill the was essential for the older guests of Saga. Maybe with the different guests the new owners are trying to attract this may not be an issue. I did ... Read more

Fabulous holiday. Booked with Saga. But sold to Group a few weeks before my friend and I arrived. We were however informed of this change. Not sure what we were to expect. There was a change over period in the first few days of our arrival. This was a little confusing regarding Staffing and mini bus trips but everything booked with Saga was honoured. In fact we had the opportunity to use the Hotel from the New group due to a problem with the pool. Shut for a few days. But we were transported to ... Read more

Bel Jou or Delightful Day hotel reflect its positives, but it has to be judged alongside its physical restrictions due to its position high up on a hillside overlooking the Caribbean Sea, airport and cemetery. The hotel and grounds are kept spotless with close scrutiny of the details.Fogging is experienced, once a week on Wednesdays between 5.30pm to 6.30pm, when all residents are confined to their rooms. The rooms are spacious with provision of all mod comes. They are kept scrupulously clean by ... We have been lucky enough to have stayed at Bel Jou for three to four weeks at a time, over the past nine years. We spent a wonderful time there end of May into June but I fear it will have been our last trip. It is everything we don't look for in a hotel... Let me explain. We love to get out and walk. We enjoy meeting and chatting to the local residents. We look forward to eating out, whether popping in for a coffee or going out to lunch or dinner. Bel Jou is up a very steep hill, not safe for ...
