"Our trip to St. Lucia was excellent and we really enjoyed staying at the BGBR. We were in 803/801 and rented the extra walk through bedroom which was perfect for family of 4. Glad that we paid the extra for the 2nd bedroom and next to the beach. All units are very close to the beach but booking the extra room basically gave you a half floor of the building so it was very quiet and plenty of room. The staff at the BGBR are very friendly and take extra care to make sure you are enjoying yourself. The rooms were very clean and had pretty much everything you needed for your stay (including the blender!). On St. Lucia you will be approached to buy from locals on the beach and at first I found it somewhat annoying but you get used to it and they get used to you. You basically see the same individuals (some sketchier than others) and you can tell them no thanks and they'll move on. In my case, I prefer to purchase items as some of the stuff is really pretty cool. I probably spent about $150USD by the time the week was over. So - go and have fun! I enjoyed the 'freedom' of St. Lucia that unfortunately we've lost somewhat here in the States. I never had to sign a waiver (jet skis) follow a bunch of rules, etc. It was more about personal responsponsibility and fun which was refreshing. We did rent a car which worked out well but probably could have lived without it. The tours pick you up at your hotel usually in open air jeep/truck that makes it fun to get to your tour destination. People drive crazy on the island so I'd suggest not renting a car if you are not comfortable driving 'free for all'. We took a Catamaran tour from Rodney Bay to southern island Grand Piton area. This was a fun trip and would recommend it. We even saw a small whale while sailing. Also did the Triple Adventure zip line at Tree Top Canopy. Highly recommend this it was a blast and very safe. I don't like heights much but it was no problem at all. It does take 1.5 hours to get from the International Airport on south side of island to Rodney Bay area but this area probably has the most to do if your looking for that."
