Myself and partner have been on many holidays over the years. We have 4 children... Age 14,6,5 + 3. We found this holiday on 'Holiday Gems' as it caters for families of 6. We weren't expecting too much as the price was very cheap. We couldn't have been happier... Hotel was clean, staff polite and helpful. There was plenty to do. Kids club. Pony tracking. Little train that does a little ride around the village from outside the hotel. The food was fine. Some lovely things, some standard. The poo... Read more

Sitting around the pool at the moment - 11:30am Saturday 14/5/16 - plenty of sun beds available still. Very peaceful setting - great for relaxing/reading a book/letting kids play in the pool. Can't fault the staff or the food. We arrived around 3am Friday - delay at airport/bus (not hotel's fault) but there was food and drink waiting for us, which we needed. Where would that happen in the UK? Room much bigger than expected in Block 2 - 2nd floor (with lift) - a suite? - little kitchen / separa... Read more

Beautiful and peaceful setting, great food and staff are excellent - could not do enough for us. Food was also good although it was targeted towards the mostly German guests. Only gripe was that the rooms didn't have a iron and ironing board, although you can hire an iron from reception. Mainly had lovely stay and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. P.s. there are a LOT of germans!

Expected a five star hotel with excellent services according review sites ( 9.3 rating). However, hotel does not belong to Iberostar-group anymore and review expectations were not met during our stay. Room size is rather small and outdated. Cleaning can be performed better. Hot water is limited for use because of boiler usage in the building which caused also a too low pressure flow. Advertised free wifi at the resort was only available for 30 mins in 24 hrs with a poor connection. Overall servi... Read more

We booked this hotel thinking we would get a much dererved holiday! It was also my husbands birthday! We thought that when we booked a four star that we would get a good standard of hotel! The accommodation was small, cramped and tired. We had no view at all! The hygiene was good and the staff were excellent! The restaurant was just like a cattle market! Very noisy and cramped and every meal dispite the time of dinning it was full of children! This was mid May so what July and August would be li... Read more

Just got back after a fabulous week at the Vell Mari. The hotel exceeded all expectations and was one of the best holidays that we have experienced. Check-in upon arrival was quick and informative and the reception team were very friendly. Our apartment/ studio was very spacious with a separate twin bedroom, double bed and child pull out bed in the main area. We also had a kitchen area including a fridge, a very large bathroom and an outside garden terrace area, including table and chairs. There... Read more

We spent a relaxing ten days here. The family apartment was a good size and the beds were comfy. The shower was powerful and hot. We were on the ground floor in block 4 and there was no noise disturbances at all. A good nights sleep every night. They also have blackout curtains in the lounge and bedroom, and the travel cot provided had a good mattress. The whole hotel was kept really clean- rooms, restaurants, toilets, etc. Only thing to mention is toilet doors near pool were a bit tight to get ... Read more

My wife, 2 teenage sons and elderly parents have just spent 11 nights all inclusive in this hotel and had a great time. The hotel was clean and well managed with very attentive staff, the food was pretty good and you could always find something you like no matter how fussy you are. Can Picafort itself is also a nice town, quieter than Alcudia but very pleasant with easy access to the other resorts if you fancy a change of scenery. Well worth a 4 out of 5.

We had a great time at Vell Mari, we travelled as a couple with our 11 month old daughter. Location: The hotel is located quite a way from the airport, so if you've got young children bare this in mind, our transfer was almost 2 hours on the coach with dropping other guests off and by this time our daughter was restless. The hotel is located about 5-10 minute walk to the nearest supermarket which stocks everything you'd need for your stay, bottled water, snacks, cereals etc etc. The walk back i... Read more

Stayed as a self catering family but no way was this apartment for that purpose. Kitchen consisted of a two ring hob. No kettle, no toaster, no microwave, no bowls, no kitchen utensils, one small saucepan. Area tiny with the smallest of work top. Family Apartment had no table & chairs in (strange for self catering) it but a double bed in this area which was next to noisy fridge and 2 foot from kitchen. Had to sit on small balcony table with 3 plastic chairs between 6 to eat. Not suitable w... Read more

Pleasant two week stay. Room standard let this 4 star hotel down. Being sold by Skytours/Thomson as a lovely modern room when in fact it is dated very dark wood old style room in need of modernisation, chipped and smell of mould. Around pool hotel need to enforce a non-smoking rule as really unpleasant getting smoke blown your way or in your baby buggy whilst on sunbed. People smoke and just dump beside beds and walk ways which is no need when hotel does have smoking area set up. Stayed s... Read more

The resort is green and has a very good layout. The apartment was OK. The kids club work in English and German... there is a writen rule that forbidens reservation of sun beds but no one respects that, what makes it hard to find a free sun bed even before 10am! At the restaurant the staff was rude. We didn't have drinks included and for twice we had problems: once with a bottle we brought for the baby and other time they refused to give us a glass of water for the baby!

I stayed in Vell Mari for a week with my partner and 15 year old son last week. There wasn't an awful lot for him to do there. Vell Mari is really geared towards young families which I have to say I can't fault it for that. They had everything what young children love and plenty of activities for them to do during the day too with a great outdoor pool and a separate children's pool with a couple of slides in the children's pool, a small playground and table tennis. They also have a spa with an i... Read more

Food was good, hotel and grounds was lovely. There was 2 bad points for me on this holiday. Location - about 20 min walk to any restaurants or bars, doesn't seem alot but when you haven't 3 young children it is difficult. Sunbeds - this made me quite angry, all beds were taken by 9am, yet not even half the beds were occupied. I reported this to reception and they said after 2-3 hours towels will be removed. Great I'll just stand up most of my holiday waiting for a bed to free up!

Just returned from here with my 16yr old daughter and her friend. Took the All Inclusive option and was not all disappointed with the quality of the food. Salted Salmon was my favourite but the girls loved the excellent Pizza on offer at all times. Large variety of quality food. Room was clean (Room 4115) and hotel had put a double bed in the room for me instead of just relying on the pull out bed. :-) Cleaner needed a medal for clearing up daily after the girls. Entertainment -For me, great, v... Read more

This is a nice resort but should not be sold as a self catering location. One kettle and small saucepan with not even enough forks for us all. No bowls or toaster or frying pan supplied. Impossible to cook for a family or even have a good breakfast. The on site supermarket was very expensive and didn't even have eggs to boil in the one small saucepan. Totally misrepresented. Only visit with all inclusive option. Good points were kids club and evening entertainment was mostly good.

Just returned and have had time to reflect on the positives and negatives. I like to start with positive so here goes, food was fantastic, huge range and good quality especially in the evening. I had the salt baked salmon one night and ive never tasted better. Pools cater for all at hotel and kept clean. Indoor pool very refreshing on a hot day. Rooms basic but okay. Football, tennis, volleyball etc were brilliant and kids loved it but as you can imagine not practical on hot days. negatives, my... Read more

STAFF: The reception manager, Tom and the young night receptionist were very helpful and friendly. The two blond women receptionists were some what aloof but did provide help when asked. The catering staff were exceptionally friendly especially Collins and the mature lady. One gardener (did not wear dark green) was very friendly and gave me a big smile when I saw him in the morning as I set off for my run. It was also nice to see him at the beach with his son. My biggest complaint is with domin... Read more

7 of us stayed here for a for a week in June 2 couples with 3, 2 & 10month old. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We arrived late (11pm) and they had a cold buffet available in the restaurant if we wanted any food. The rooms were ok though they probably could do with a make over. Kitchenette in the room came in very handy but could do with a few more utilises to make full use of it. Facilities in the hotel are very good two nice out door pools and one indoor. We only used the outdoor o... Read more

We stayed for a week AI and from the minute we arrived 5am til the moment we left 11pm we had a brilliant time. The accomodation although small was adequate enough for a family of 5 with plenty of storage.Credit to Antonia the block 4 cleaner she was awsome. Food was varied and nice although sometimes a bit salty and the restaurant staff make you feel welcome-special thanks to Jose who made my daughters holiday..Matilda says Ola!! Overall the hotel and resort were good, food variety and portions were good as we were on an all inclusive basis ,we were even provided with a cold buffet on arrival at 2.00am with juice and soft drinks. A couple of negatives included the need to line up at night in the only bar,to get drinks during and after the evening entertainment. The heat in the bar was stifling, it would make more sense to keep the pool bar open even until 10pm to relieve the crowds looking for drinks . Also a word of a... Read more
