Just stayed here for one week and one our last day today. This hotel in my opinion is just great!! All the staff here are welcoming and always willing to try and help you. We have a very late check out today and we are still allowed to use all the facilities including the restaurant for lunch and dinner. The wellness centre downstairs is a very welcome addition to any hotel. The hotel is a 3 star and if you come here not expecting the lap of luxury then you will be very impressed, yes the rooms... This hotel was in a relatively good location. 5 minutes to the beach but be warned there is 10 flights of stairs to get to the beach- and 10 flights back up, not good for those with mobility difficulties. The entertainment was thing like bingo, it's def aimed at the older group, not the group of mid twenties that we are. The rooms were cleaned every day, the maids were fantastic. The food was not bad, repetitive as any all inclusive. The staff seemed to be slightly ignorant except the staff i... Read more

Stayed here a week as a party of nine. Predominantly German guests, however no problem whatsoever. Hotel location good,5 mins from a small beach. Food was good with ample choice ,drinks and snacks all inclusive. Only a few branded spirits you need to pay extra for. Rooms adequate and cleaned well, however general refurbishment to modernise is required. No problem getting a lounger by the pool at all, indoor pool within the spa is fantastic, best I have ever use,and best part of hotel.Does have a ... Arrived at the hotel late Saturday evening and were served up a buffet which was a nice touch. Rooms ok but in need of some general upgrading. The hotel caters for the older guest, predominantly German with their entertainment. Disappointed to find only a couple of TV channels in English both news. I know you do not go on holiday to watch TV, but it would be nice to watch when getting ready or relaxing. Our room did have a good strong free wifi connection.Food was Ok not the best but definitely... Read more

I spent a week at the Escorial with my 12 year old daughter and we both hated it ... Boring, rude, don't waste your money. CONS: This hotel is for German and Spanish if your English you might aswell be invisible. There is 1 animation man who arranges bingo, darts, and dancing for over 50s he never spoke to us once. There was supposed to be aqua aerobics, kids disco, and games in the pool but we never saw this the whole time we were there. The music round the pool is 60s and 70s music and the eve... Read more

It's pricy but you get what you pay for. Good location being 10 mins walk from beach. Good selection of food for each meal. The evenings entertainment is pretty good but be warned this hotel is geared toward OAPs. It is favoured by German OAPs. One highlight is the friendly staff, not all but most. Especially Carlos the night security Guard who I lost 5 euros to on the champions league final. And Elle the receptionist who greeted me on arrival and had a massive smile on her face for the whole o... Read more

The Escorial looks to be a conveniently located value for money hotel however there is so much more to it. The usual things like rooms, restaurant pool etc were all as expected ie good 3 star standard, rooms large clean and airy with large balconies.A wide selection of reasonable food. All inclusive drinks always available with fresh machine made real coffee. What makes it outstanding are the extra facilities. My boyfriend and i visited this hotel for a weeks holiday. We were a bit sceptical after reading reviews that it was more for the elder generation but don't let that put you off. There was a definite mixture throughout the hotel! Rooms: TOPTIP- ask for a high floor room with pool view! This way you also get the view of the sea and most of playa del ingles! Lovely!! The rooms are spacious with plenty of wardrobe space. Sheets are changed everyday and also towels. Aircon is â?¬2 a day, a must in t... Read more

I had an amazing holiday at the Escorial hotel. Clean helpful staff and good food drink and entertainment. Our Thompson's rep Leanne was so helpful going out of her way to make sure we had the info we needed and always smiling and making jokes. Made us feel very welcome so if you're reading this Leanne thank you. Would you back there tomorrow. The choices of food meant there was something for everyone.

I was more than impressed with the overall quality of the hotel. Very clean. So much choice at meal times. So much going on. I would say that this is a four star hotel easy. Outside areas have a pool, toddlers pool, hot tub, kids play area, tennis court, 2 pool tables, darts, inside there is a lounge/tv area. As stated meals had so much choice, afternoon cake and coffee, ice creams all day for the little ones and snacks until 3 which was your pizzas, burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets etc. Most... Lowest star rating we've booked for sometime but no need to worry. The food was great - not a massive restaurant but it's not a massive hotel, always plenty of freshly cooked meats and fish. Show cooking, good basics and variety topped up with luxuries such as salmon more often than not. Freshly squeezed orange juice etc for breakfast, lots of cold meat, cheeses etc. Nice spa area with complimentary treatment. Rooftop solarium with hot tub. Stayed at this hotel back in March and have rebooked to stay again in September. The lowest star hotel I have stayed in for many years and can say that this hotel deserves a higher star rating. Food and Drink a plenty you won't go hungry or thirsty and the food quality is very good. Staff very friendly and helpful with a real genuine desire to help you enjoy your stay. Facilities good and the Spa area with the dead sea pool is fantastic.

A nice hotel with great All Inclusive. The food was well made, but the variation was a little poor. The breakfast however was always great. The pool area was okay and the entertainer there, who organized the daily games, was a real comedian. So funny and always in a great mood. This hotel is not for young children I would rather say that this is a peaceful hotel for people over 45. The evening performances was great fun and alsoo in the evening all the winners from that days games was presented.

Apart from the buffet lunch you can order from the bar things like pizza, toasties, burgers , hotdogs. Soft drinks and beer are self service. Sun beds are a little limited so you may have to get up early as towels appear from about 7am. The rooms are clean and tidy. Great hotel with amazing extras. The spa facilities of this hotel are great mud baths hydrotherapy salt pool but to name a few. These are all part of your all inc package at no extra cost. The food and drinks are great and the entertainment was good too. We had the top floor room right above the jacuzzi which we took full advantage of. Great hotel would book again.

The staff were lovely upon arrival, the rooms were perfect for me and my friends and facilities in the hotel is fantastic! Love the variety and choice we had in both food and drinks! Definitely worth going all inclusive as international drinks are also included. Best holiday I have had and would definitely stay in this hotel again!

Myself and 3 friends have recently returned from a weeks holiday at the Escorial. The hotel itself is nice, it's clean and comfortable, the rooms looked bigger in the brochure (we had 2 twin rooms) near shops and bars and 5 minutes away by taxi to the Yumbo centre. The pool area and the restaurant are quite small, in high season this may be a problem. This was my second visit to this lovely hotel. The staff, the food and drink, but most especially the great atmosphere, make this my favourite hotel in Gran Canaria. OK, so let's get this clear.....This is 100% a 3 Star rated hotel - all as their signage, and is ( or was during our visit) around 98% German / International. We don't have issues with Germans etc, but when you only find around 4 other English in a hotel, you certainly feel a little isolated. The hotel is ok if you're used to one pool and one bar, but as Thomsons / First Choice had given it at least a 4 Star rating we expected much better. The brochure says 'what is on the tin...' We visited the Escorial in February 2016 and didn't realise at the time just how good this hotel is. Having recently returned from an awful hotel in Tenerife we found ourselves using the Escorial as our benchmark.
