This was my fourth visit to La Cala golf and spa hotel and as usual I wasn't disappointed. The room was overlooking the 18th green of the Asia course and came complete with roof terrace. The courses were in perfect condition with an easy round on Americas, a slightly tougher round on Europa, and a tough one on Asia because some of the greens would have tested the best professionals!! The only downside was checking out and being more or less accused of nicking the pool towels because the pool man... Read more

I really enjoy La Cala resort and have visited 3 times now. This time we played La Cala Asia only and the course was in great condition with the greens being super quick. It's a challenging course with some fairly long carries off the tee and some of the higher handicappers in our group did struggle but overall everyone enjoyed it. I would give La Cala resort 5 stars, however, there are 2 issues which hold it back for me. 1) Golf check in process is really slow. First you go to pro shop to g... Read more

12 of us descend every year on La Cala for our annual golfing trip and we have been now for 6/7 years. It hasn't really changed that much, the courses are good fun to play and we always lose loads of balls, but hey we know what to expect. However, the place in terms of the rooms are looking a bit dated and a wee bet tired and could perhaps do with a makeover. Don't get me wrong the large double room we shared was nice, the balcony view nice and overall the place is still a good venue for a ... Read more

As I write, the drunken shouting is still going on. Last night it finished at 3 am, the previous night at 2 am, and tonight who knows? On the golf course, both myself and my partner's smartphones were stolen from our bags whilst we played golf. Sorry, says the hotel, it happens a lot. Also whilst playing golf, our balls were stolen from the fairway as we drove towards them. Sorry, says the hotel, it happens. On the first night, there was no table for us. Had a two night/2 rounds of golf stay. Hotel is excellent; very friendly staff, good breakfast and lovely pool area. In respect of the golf it was tale of two halves; with the America course being in fantastic condition, but the Europa course was a let down due to being poorly maintained. However, this didn't ruin the enjoyment of the stay. Free bottled water in the room should be given.

La Cala is possibly the largest golf complex in Spain, 3 great courses, a teaching academy, practice range, challenging 6 hole par 3. Be prepared for large elevation changes as you will be playing in the foothills of the Mijas mountains. All golf package prices can include buggies and I consider them a must at my age. Even 30 somethings can struggle when walking if not descended from a mountain goat! Green fees are towards the low end of the Costa Del Sol range, a 3 round pass including shared b... Read more

A resort for the golfer or those who just want to enjoy the pool area and the scenery. The Club house restaurant needs a shape up with the food, does not represent a 4 star resort in 2016. Play golf every year at La Cala for at least the last 8 years and the golf is still ok although it has been better. Hospitality really needs improvement. There is a kind of "we don't care" mentality. The service, quality and prices in the restaurant are not in balance at all. The restaurant should open at 8 but at 8.30 someone is opening the doors.
