Hotel set in great position looking towards the marina, beach close by, in front of the cathedral and the many shopping lanes. Plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to spend soaking up the atmosphere. Hotel was clean, the rooms were plain but had to buy extra things like WiFi and coat hangers which was disappointing. The reception staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was basic, could improve by adding more choice particularly in the fruit section.

We didn't stay at AC Hotel Malaga Palacio but took the advice of other TA contributors to visit the rooftop bar by the pool on the 15th floor. We just walked through the lobby, asked the lift attendant for the terrace and were sent up without any issue at all. It was a brilliant way to spend the late afternoon/early evening before heading elsewhere for dinner. There's a decent number of tables and each have spectacular views over the city and the ocean. Pints of beer and glasses of wine we... Read more

Great location with nice rooms - some have views of the ocean. Ridiculous elevator. The staff need a little training - horrible restaurant recommendation, couldn't or wouldn't answer questions over the phone, and didn't properly introduce the hotel. This hotel has a gorgeous pool and fanatic rooftop restaurant.

A room on a high floor facing the harbour complemented by an awesome terrace on the top of the hotel equipped with a swimming pool and the best view towards the one-towered cathedral and the Alcazar is a truly magnificent reason to stay at this hotel. Valet parking only (23 euro day). Completely agree with previous review about the staff. Not all of them but some appeared to be completely discontent.

Great hotel situated next to the cathedral. Beautiful view over sea from room. Generously sized room, bed extremely comfortable. Slow , smart lift, not really sure of the point, fashion over function. Staff friendly and helpful. Stunning roof top pool and bar. Views amazing on all sides. Very trendy crowd. Pool small and very limited sun beds.

An excellent location, close to sights, shops and the coast. We were kindly upgraded, I suspect because we booked direct and not via agents. A fantastic view from the room. Check in staff could smile more, I know its a tough job but they are the frontline of the hotel. Fully recommended

I have just returned from a five night stay at the Malaga Palacio. This was my second visit to the hotel. Since my last visit in October 2015 there has been a refurbishment of the ground floor lounge and bar which was a tasteful improvement to the older style. Sadly, the pool area was closed for refurbishment for the entire duration of my stay which was disappointing. I had a room with balcony overlooking the street which was modern, clean and comfortable. We had a 3 night stay in this great hotel. We got a balcony on the 11th floor which is the highest possible and definitely worth it for the great views over the port, park and front. The hotel has great access to the old town centre and everything is just a few minutes walk. The roof terrace is lovely with even better views. It is small and inclined to get busy at peak times. The hotel is in a great location, close to the marina and town centre. The food served was very good, but the drinks were extremely expensive compared with the rest of Malaga. We had a balcony room which overlooked the marina. The room was very modern. Large bed, flat screen TV, etc. Bathroom was well appointed with slippers and dressingowns. We booked a room with oceanview, and it was worth the money. Lovely view and a luxurious room with a comfortable bed. When our plane had a delay the next day, we booked an extra night at the Marriott in a standard room. Still a good room, but with a view on a dark courtyard. So our advice is: spend a few euro's extra and treat yourself to an oceanview room. Overall feel of a budget hotel, generally fine but functional. Rooms sterile. I forgot that you pay for WiFi at a Marriott hotel, which I will not do as a matter of principle. Looking for my wife's earring on the bathroom floor was unpleasant as I realised how much filth there was in the corners and less accessible places. Television remote temperamental. Excellent location. Acceptable for a day or two on the way through Malaga but I would not recommend it otherwise.

On our trip to sought Spain we decided to have a night in Malaga. We loved our one night stay and the following day we decided to try the rooftop terrace at the AC hotel Malaga. It was nice and quiet and we were served by Naville who had only started working that very day. It was a real privilege to be served by Naville on his first day at the Marriott. The hotel is well kept, lovely lobby bar and friendly reception staff, small things like staff opening the front doors for you as you come in is a lovely touch. The roof top pool is small but perfect for the size of the rooftop area and a bottle of cava is only 12 euros! It's location is right in the old town, so you can walk to all the restaurants and less than 10 mins walk to the port and the restaurants down there.

Some good news - some bad news. Let's get the bad out of the way. No swimming pool and the lift system can take a considerable time - I mean ten minutes. The location is excellent the rooms are pleasant and clean and the staff are very good and try to help with everything. The front of the hotel has steps but no ramp which is inconvenient if you have heavy suitcases.

Room and bathroom are very clean. Staff very helpful.

We decided to have a few days in Malaga whilst staying at our holiday home near Mijas. This is a lovely city and AC met our needs. Clean rooms in a great location and a good breakfast (as long as you get there before 10:00 as it becomes a feeding frenzy).

Only used the roof top bar in the evenings.. The views are awesome and highly recommend you kick start your evenings here. Watching the sunset from the terrace is worth the slightly inflated bar prices..

Well positioned for visiting this lovely city. Hotel has all the facilities you need with valet parking if required. Not 5 * because buffet breakfast was ok but not great. Security good and very clean. Rooftop pool and bar for those warm days/evenings.

Perfect location and service. Rooms and bathrooms are big. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast is OK, just. What is PERFECT is the pool on the roof. You have perfect views of the port, the Alcazaba, the cathedral, the whole Malaga. And you can have a bite, a drink, a swim or just sunbathe there. Must come back!!!!

I may be a biased Marriott fan but this hotel was truly perfect for seeing Malaga. It's location is as close to the Old Town and all the attractions as you could get. The service at the Front desk and on the roof top bar/restaurant was perfect. The rooms were clean and modern. The aircon worked well and our room even had a balcony overlooking the Port Area. Once we had seen the Rooftop Pool, Bar & Restaurant, it was clear where we should eat that evening. Despite no booking and the restaurant be... Read more

We live about an hour from Malaga and like to spend a night in the city two or three times a year, and there was a hotel that we always used until it changed hands and the whole atmosphere went downhill. Friends had spoken highly of Malaga Palacio and we booked a night there. It fully met all our expectations based on what these friends had said, but in one respect it far exceeded our expectations. As I checked in the man dealing with me said, "Oh, we've upgraded you to a junior suite". What an ... Read more

Stayed at this place a few weeks ago, mainly driven by the brand affinity with Marriott. What a disappointment! Old building with below average service, poor maintenance, overcrowded common areas and endless waits fro elevators make me conclude: DO NOT GO THERE.

This wasn't actually our first choice of place to stay in Malaga, for our weekend break, but thankfully, that wasn't available when we were booking! What an amazing hotel this is. Excellent location. To say we were pleasantly surprised, is an understatement. The pool on the rooftop was just the icing on the cake. We actually only spent a couple of hours up there, but I was impressed they close most of it off, for hotel guests. We also watched the sunset on night, with a cocktail, just breath ta... Read more

We visited the hotel in the middle of September for a week and we really enjoyed our stay. It would have rated a 5 star if it wasn't for the lifts! and a few quirky incidents. The good points first:- The welcome was warm, the room was excellent with a port view and balcony. The food for breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold foods. The not quite so good:- The lifts have been mentioned in many posts, but basically they are not up to dealing with the number of guests at busy ti... Read more

Our seaview room was excellent. Location perfect next to the Cathedral and the old town. Unable to comment on the food as we ate outside in the numerous restaurants and cafes that are located just outside. The staff were friendly and attentive. Pleased to find kettle, teas and coffees in the room. Went to the hotel restaurant to obtain fresh milk which we kept in the fridge.

We chose this hotel because of its location walkable for both the city and the waterfront. It didn't disappoint in this regard and the views from the pool terrace are fantastic. We had a room on the 9th floor with a balcony looking out to the waterfront and it was comfortable if a little tired. Breakfast served on the second floor was good and the breakfast stafff helpful. However apart from at breakfast generally we found the staff unhelpful and disinterested. When we arrived by taxi with ... Read more

We were met at the door and our bags whisked up to our room... Bottle of White and bottle of Water 12e - not bad. Views over the port from the roof are excellent. Room is spacious and comfortable and placed perfectly to visit all the sites of Malaga. Ask for a top floor room looking at the sea - it is so worth it to really feel like you are somewhere special! The staff was quite helpful - since the airline had lost our luggage, they called several times (with no luck) to get our bags. One warning - there is NO ramp for luggage to get to the lobby. Which means you either catch the valet to haul your bags up the stairs, lug it yourself, or use the lone mini-elevator for wheelchairs. This did not look very easily accessible for disabled tra... This recently remodeled property by Marriott offers a convenient hub to the city. Great service in modern facilities. Love their breakfast buffet with all the staples of a Spanish starter for the day. We have tried both, sea or cathedral view, and have been happy with either one. Corner rooms preferred. The hotel is located on the edge of the "old town" next to the Cathedral. It is within walking distance of the Picasso museum the main shopping areas and an endless number of tapas bars and restaurants. A wide boulevard and park area separates it from the port. The views from the upper floor rooms facing the harbor are spectacular especially at night. Room 1114 was a real winner. The roof top poolside cocktail terrace was also a winner.

There is a tiny unheated pool on the roof so we had to miss our daily swim. If you need a swim don't go to AC Palacio.
