This is a classic boutique hotel with modern amenities and rooms. While the hotel itself is older, complete with old fashioned keys that you leave at the desk, the rooms have modern furniture and creature comforts like central air conditioning. At check in, we were offered a glass of cava. Each evening after turn down service, there was a pleasant surprise like a bottle of cava or fresh fruit. One evening, the concierge invited us to enjoy tapas in their garden. The food was awesome, some of th... Read more

The staff did everything to make our stay comfortable and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. Lovely room, overlooking the shady garden and delicious food added to the whole experience. One evening included complementary tapas, which was just what we needed after a long day exploring! Kirker recommended this hotel and it exceeded our expectations. In a quiet part of the city but within walking distance of all the sites, it was a perfect spot to be.

My husband took me here for my 60th birthday and from the moment we checked in I knew he had found a lovely little gem of a place. We were greeted from the taxi by a more than helpful and pleasant porter who was happy to take all our luggage poor man. We were then met by Jose Martin Sanchez the front office manager who couldnt do more than enough for us. He was very informative of the area and was there for any questions or queries we had. Our stay here was extremely pleasant. The hotel is located on a quiet street, convenient to the major attractions. It is cozy and very elegant. The staff was fantastic. All our concerns and questions were dealt with by an eager and friendly staff. We had an excellent dinner in their luxurious dining room. The wait staff was very attentive. On arrival, we found a bowl of berries in our room. On subsequent days we were treated to other snacks and two bottles of water. Turn-down service in... Read more

I booked the Hotel Orfila for a family trip to Madrid, and cannot say enough good things about this wonderful boutique hotel. Great staff, excellent restaurant (even though it is quite a small hotel), perfect location that is close to key sites but in a residential neighborhood so very quiet at night, unlike the large hotels. We had a lovely suite that provided a comfortable place to rest in between forays out to museum and restaurants.

this June 2016 we spent 5 nights at the Hotel Orfila. It is a small jewel of a hotel with a wonderful garden where meals are served. The restaurant was great. The room (a junior suite) was large and well furnished in the antique style. But best of all were the staff who really went out of their way to make the trip enjoyable. The hotel is located one block from a subway station and a bus line that takes one directly down the dedicated bus lane to the three major museums on Paseo del Prado. Our ... Read more

The hotel is small but the staff is excellent and took incredible care of us. The hotel was also amazingly quiet for downtown Madrid....I will definitely stay again on a trip to Madrid. My only negative - I believe the gym/spa is being remodeled. We went to a gym in the neighborhood which was fine but would be inconvenient on a tight schedule.

Very well located, charming building, great service, good food. We had an upgrade and they gave us a room bigger than most of apartments in Madrid, full of natural light. Is a Relais Chateaux, meaning that the food is excellent, so it worth to have lunch or dinner at one of the most calm terraces of the city. The service is outstanding.

This is not a modern hotel, more like a luxurious mansion hotel. The service was impeccable, from arrival to departure. Room was very big, comfortable bed, air conditioning, great bathroom and amenities. Internet (free or charge) worked perfectly well. The breakfast was extraordinary, lot of choice, fantastic quality. If you can afford it, don't hesitate.

Our junior suite was incredibly spacious with a well-situated large bathroom and dressing room. The hotel staff is gracious, kind and helpful in making any plans in the area. Overall the hotel is lovely; however, we enjoy walking throughout the city and found the location to be a bit too far from everything. It was quite a long walk to the museums and another long walk in the opposite direction to the Plaza Mayor area - especially in the summer heat. The advantage to the distant location is... Read more

Our family stayed at this level hotel at the end of June. We have stayed a numerous R&C Properties, and found this one to have the following strong features. 1. Beautiful terrace area for breakfast and dinner. 2. Generous room size. 3. Friendly and helpful service. 4. Appreciated the little touches in the room, such as fruit, chocolates and lotions. 5. Great location. Close to major sites. 6. Dinner and wine were outstanding. We would stay here if and when we return to Madrid.

What an amazing hotel! Everything about this boutique hotel says "Luxury" and the staff supports this image and experience. We came in town for the half-marathon and were absolutely pleased with the central location, availability and proximity to public transportation and the atmosphere of the neighborhood (very quiet and serene). This is a 5-star hotel and the rooms were large by European standards. We will stay again!

We just loved this place. Everyone was very helpful and nice. The room was a king bed and had plenty of room. The hotel has an "upscale" feel to it without being pretentious. The location is within walking distance to the Prado Museum and the large city park. The staff were great with directions and maps. We opted to eat dinner at the hotel and were happy we did. After a long, hot afternoon walking around Madrid we decided to not brave the heat and crowds. We had a lovely dinner on the patio. It... Read more

We stayed at Hotel Orfila for two nights in late June. The room is very spacious, tastefully decorated. We especially liked the bathroom and the walk-in closet. When we arrived after a long drive, we were greeted with friendly staff and cava. The service is superb. Everybody working there is very helpful. There is a nice garden/restaurant but we did not have time to enjoy it. It looked nice. Tons of restaurants/bars around(highly recommend Pink Monkey nearby). 10-minute walk to metro. We went to... We booked a 2 night stay on our first trip to Madrid solely based on this hotel being ranked no. 1 on TripAdvisor and we're happy we did! Very conveniently located - the airport was reasonably close and we easily took the train yo visit other areas or walked when we could. The breakfast was expensive and probably could have been more extensive for the price but I did have a very good omelette! The service was quite good overall and the room and terrace were lovely. Highly recommend this!

Had the most amazing stay at Orfila. The staff were amazing and so so welcoming and the location was beautiful! In particular, staff member Argenis Ramirez was amazing - my boyfriend planned a meal with flowers etc to be given to me while we had dinner and had the table pre arranged with petals all over it and a bottle of Moët at the table already for us and Argenis had been emailing him for a few weeks leading up to our stay to help arrange this and make it as special as possible! We drove from San Sebastian to Madrid to spend a night here. In the busy city this was a tranquil oasis. Easy to find by gps and situated in a quiet street. Staff helped us park our car upon arrival and showed us the room with courtyard view. Wonderful service and rooms. Good breakfast that we had outside in the courtyard. What an experience that was! Can fully understand why this small hotel is number one.

Relais Chateaux hotels are our favorite and Orfila definitely meets its standards in service and food. Staff is very helpful n efficient. Rooms r neat. Parking is conveniently underground. Always come back for its service.

What a wonderful hotel to spend a weekend in Madrid. This charming ¨boutique¨ hotel is very conveniently located outside of the old city but easily within walking distance. The hotel is comfortable and the food excellent, but the real charm is the staff. Everyone went out of their way, and above and beyond, to make our stay an excellent one. It was like everyone there is a concierge waiting to help you. I can´t recommend this great hotel enough.

Well, Hotel Orfila is the #1 Madrid hotel on TA. I'm a little surprised but I think it reflects the discretion of TA travelers. While not being in the heart of town or a fancy, major chain hotel, the Orfila does really provide a delightful, comfortable choice in a wonderful, quiet but convenient location. The hotel is really a beautiful little jewel box of a place in every aspect from the elegant rooms to the public spaces including the drop dead gorgeous back patio depicted in their photo. That...
