This was our first trip to Madrid and a great hotel to spend it in. The hotel itself was very clean, with lovely breakfast avalible of a morning. The location is rather central and we managed to walk to all attractions we wanted to see without a problem. The staff were extremely helpful and catered for any issue we had. On arrival the member of staff working was very helpful and gave us a map indicated all things she would suggest to see, along with recommended places to eat. The only downside t... Read more

The hotel had a sewer smell on the first 2 days of our stay, mostly in the reception area, it was not very pleasant. This is the second time I've stayed in this hotel and this time we got a smaller room with a few defective items such as hairdryer. As soon as we told them the hairdryer was defective, they gave us a replacement one. On the second day we only got 2 towels instead of 3, we called reception but the third one never arrived. Rooms are quite basic and clean and quite noisy, similar... Read more

I have been using hotels in this chain for many years now in different parts of Spain. They offer a great variety of reasonable prices that accommodate most budgets, great locations, quite pleasant deco, excellent Wi-Fi, high hygiene standards, and foremost outstanding staff. This time was Posada del Peine, located where the oldest hotel in Madrid has been nonstop operating. Half a block from Plaza Mayor is surprisingly quiet even in lower levels. They always have lovely Nespresso coffee and te... Read more

When you enter the hotel it smells like sewer. The rooms are small, we can't even have our suitcases out. If you're interested in sleeping past 8am, this hotel is not for you. Every 5 minutes in the morning it sounds like they are throwing a vaccuum down the stairs.

This hotel has a lot of reviews to say that it is centrally located and this isn't strictly true. It is located near to Plaza Mayor, but if you want to go shopping Calle de Serrano is on the other side of the city. That being said, there are a lot of good restaurants that are walking distance, so that is most definitely upside. As it is so close to Puerta del Sol, the direct area is not very nice and also not very clean. If you are looking for a quiet and clean area, this isn't the right place.... Read more

Really nice hotel. Great for families! Even at breakfast, they have special plates for kids. Breakfast includes unlimited champagne and OJ - great for mimosas. Everything from churros to eggs. Hotel is in a great location. Would definitely recommend.

The location of the hotel is excellent and we quite liked the "rustic" lobby that others have had issues with. Main reason for liking it though was the Front-of-House Manager, Esther. From arrival to check out and including a small issue we had with the air-conditioning, Esther remained friendly, polite, humorous, helpful and kind. She is a credit to the hotel. Our second floor room was a good size, though I imagine the frosted-glass en-suite bathroom was a recent addition. I suppose it is ... Read more

We stayed overnight while connecting through Madrid to USA. We picked the hotel because of its great location downtown. We had two family rooms because we had 8 people. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast had lots of options and was yummy. Pros: - Location downtown during The holidays. Lots to walk and see. - Modern decor and cleanliness - Good breakfast spread with lots of options. - Friendly staff that was helpful and spoke English. - Fancy shower with good water press... Hotel is centrally located literally steps next to Plaza Mayor, extremely close to Puerta del Sol and walking distance to Palace. There a lot of restaurants close by. Taxi cannot come to hotel but will drop you close by. Front desk is extremely helpful and polite. It is supposed to be oldest hotel in Spain(we saw many walking tours stop here) but room was very modern and comfortable.Hotel offers free bikes and free walking tour which we were unable to take advantage of. They also had a 5 Euro pe... Read more

Centrally located near Plaza Mayor yet on a quaint side street so it was peaceful. The room was large and everything very clean and modern. The staff was the best part, so helpful and welcoming. They helped us print train tickets (even jumped on the phone with the train company for us), book a good flamenco show and pointed us to other good places. Wifi actually worked (not always a guaranteed amenity). Didn't take advantage of the bike or free tours but wish we would have. The best hotel stay w... Read more
