A very beautiful hotel, very classic. Rooms are big and spacious but some things need a renovation. Specially the bed. Also all the extra things are really expensive. I order coffee to my room and even though it came in a very elegant presentation, it was really expensive. I don't know if it is worth the price.

This is not a new or modern hotel. Stayed in a delux suite that was very clean, ridiculously spacious, well lit and dripped elegance of a time recently passed. Bathrooms were well updated and very functional. Staff was excellent, prompt and seemed to appear when needed and then vanish. The location for me was outstanding and easy cab rides to various parts of the city.

First I must say, we are fans. We understand it needs updating, it's a but tired But up it retains, the charm and great service Of another era. Beginning with the friendly greeting of Enrique or Ivan Garcia, it feels Like coming home. Our room was not ready, I must say its first time In many years, and Julia, a welcome change in the front desk area Offered us a drink while we waited and gave us updates. " The best luxury I ever experienced" Our recent stay at the legendary Ritz exceeded our expectations. The hotel is the most beautiful I ever visited. The beauty of the public spaces tops even Hotel de Paris in Monaco which is one of my favorites. The opulence and belle epoque style takes your breath away as soon as you enter the lobby. I could have sat for hours in the main hall to observe the beautiful details everywhere. Our suite 501 was fine for 4 nights stay but personally I like a bit bi... Read more

Ideal location and elegant rooms. Great gym and running with the Ritz program is a plus. However, the trainer exhibited some favouritism. Not sure whether it was because the other client was Spanish or male; but he received a personal training session and I was ignored. The concierges were friendly. The food and cava sangrias were tasty but service at the lounge was slow and service at the outdoor bar was rude.

The Ritz is an excellent place to stay in Madrid. It is a historic hotel just across the street from the Prado. It is very convenient for visiting not only the Prado, but also the other major art museums in Madrid. It is also convenient to the train station. The service was outstanding, and our deluxe room was really a suite. It was very quiet for sleeping. The breakfast was good, and the garden tapas restaurant was a very nice choice for an early dinner. I highly recommend this hotel. W... Read more

I was extremely disappointed with the service at this hotel. I have stayed at other Ritz and Mandarin properties all over the world, and this was very far from the experience I expected. 1. Airport pick up. First, I could not find my confirmed transfer at the airport. I had to exchange money and hail a taxi instead. Upon my arrival to the hotel in my taxi, I was not welcomed, but greeted with confused looks (I arrived at 6am after taking an overnight flight). Upon explaining to the s... Read more

This hotel carries certainly the royal touch, absolutely splendid in every corner. The hotel rooms are quite big, the closet for storing luggages and clothes is big enough for putting quite some people in. The bed is extremely comfortable. The toilet covered with marble is beautifully decorated The only complaint that I have is that the shower head is only from the top and you may easily get a non-voluntary hair wash!

All the important components for transitioning through jet lag from the states. We enjoyed exploring Madrid which was easy because of the incredible location of the Ritz. I booked a stay of 3 nights with my wife at the Ritz with high expectations. Mandarin Oriental is a hotel group I often stay in and they recently took over the management of this Grand Dame in Madrid where the walls of the bar are adorned with pictures of the many celebrities that have stayed there over the past 50 years. At every point there is service with a smile. Only negative is there is very little vegetarian choices in breakfast and at the Resturant. We requested for veg food ( ie. Staying at the Ritz was as much a thrill for me and my family (wife + 2 young adult daughters) as I imagine it was during its 'heyday' in the early/mid 1900's. The Ritz retains all the historical mystique and flourishes while presenting its always-in-fashion exemplary service. We never tire of staying in 'living monuments' to the Old Europe and we're not alone in our thinking - as evidenced by the diversity of fellow guests (families, movie starts, politicians, locals, etc.) we observed during... We recently stayed 8 nights in a 1 bedroom suite. the hotel has worn carpeting but most important the shower was so small, one cannot raise their arms to wash their hair. having stayed at numerous European hotels, this was way smaller than any other encountered. The price we paid for a 1 bed suite was outrageous considering the desperate need of renovations and the shower...which also had black mold in it. Unacceptable for a Mandarin property

I would never stay anywhere else. This is the best hotel in Madrid. They need some serious help with the room lights though, because at night you cannot find your way to the bathroom. Nevertheless, it is still the most beautiful hotel to stay in.

I had afternoon tea here with my wife and another couple. It's a beautiful and grandly charming hotel as you would expect. No better place to have tea at 4pm on Saturday afternoon in late September. It is right next to El Prado, possibly the greatest art museum I have ever been in! So you see the art and then drop in here for tea. It gets no more civilised...

It can be a wonderful experience to go old-school to a true luxury hotel from a different era. The Ritz provides that experience. Great location in a wonderful city, but that is a given. Decor maybe a little on the worn side and definitely designed many years ago. But what made it work so well was the attitude of the staff - one of those rare hotels where you are treated well by everyone who just want to make your stay better. We showed up early off the plane, were comped a breakfast and up... Read more

Stayed here for eight nights recently.Truly a hotel from a time gone by.Style, courtesy and elegance, sadly not always complimented by some present day travellers who seem to think they are on a beach in Maui.More's the pity. As others have stated the planned refurbishment will take place next year.Let's hope they concentrate on upgrading the rooms and leave the beautiful lounge as it is. Just a word for those of you who are planning a treat for a partner or family member and are not accustomed to... Read more

Loved the room, services and the restaurant Goya and the beautiful outdoor garden Jardin where one could relax for drinks and tapas. The concierge service was exceptional and made arrangements so we could easily get to the restaurants, the Prado and do day trips with a driver to Avila and Segovia with helpful tips to make make our trip extremely pleasant and effortless.

My wife and I had stayed at the Ritz, Madrid about 9 years ago and found it to be a wonderful hotel then so this year we decided to give them another visit. We had another wonderful time here. The reception was great. We arrived early so we had to wait a little while until our room was ready so we sat in the beautiful lounge area and listened to the most wonderful piano player while we had coffee and tea and scrumptious cookies. Our room was wonderful and quite large. We had a lunch in their gar... Read more

We just stayed at the Ritz Madrid for 3 nights in September. It was a good stay, they upgraded us to a nice suite and we frequented the majority of their restaurant choices. It's a lovely and elegant, classic styled hotel. I have read in previous reviews that it needs updating and from what I understand, the Mandarin Oriental plans to do a renovation in 2017. Yes it could use an update, but it was a very nice stay regardless of the fact that the carpets and plumbing systems could use a face-l... Read more

Perfectly located next to the Prado. The gym and spa are very good and the Ritz has beautifully appointed rooms and common areas. Restaurant is great too. Perfect to sit outside and relax. I highly recommend the Ritz. Stay there.

We stayed for 5 nights in this wonderful hotel. We talked about what makes a 5 star hotel, we decided it was many things. It is the concierge team that can make a huge difference. At the Madrid Ritz we thought it had one of the best concierge team we had experienced. There was a problem with our room, it was not the hotel fault, a guest was smoking a cigar next door. The head concierge organised for our luggage to be moved to another room without any fuss and sincere apologies. You can book a... Read more

We stayed at the Ritz Madrid for four nights and it was like heaven. Borja, the Senior Concierge is a dream, absolutely devoted to us! The other staff were delightful and very enthusiastic and professional. They are YES people; nothing is difficult or complicated. Everything is possible. Food was amazing and our room was so beautiful and comfortable that we felt like Royalty! We adore the Ritz Madrid!

An old world elegant hotel, yet not stuffy. We arrived in late afternoon and had a deliciously simple snack in the Hall, the lovely reception area for tea near the lobby. Concierge was very helpful in making dinner reservations and was fun to talk to. The location could not be better as it is located within a very short walk to 3 museums and many restaurants and great shopping. Each room is decorated in its own distinct way; ours is filled with beautiful we'll-maintained antiques and a big k... Read more

I have been meaning to review this property for a is truly wonderful. The hotel is perfectly maintained. It has a timeless feel yet the service was contemporary in every possible way. The room was spacious and very well appointed. I really liked the little 'do not disturb' room signs. Little touches like this, I find add value to a stay. I must thank the general manager and the concierge team particularly for ensuring our stay was flawless. Overall, this must be the best place to s... Read more

This is real five star hotel. The location is excellent for the Prado and Thyssen- Bornemisza museums and the botanical gardens. The style is traditional European grand with marble, gilt and tapestries. Rooms are furnished in the same manner and size is adequate. Bathrooms are comfortable with quality toiletries. You can take the excellent breakfast on a lovely terrace and enjoy drinks in the garden which really is a bonus in the middle of a busy city. The staff are highly professional yet frien... Read more

Well when you hear "Ritz" and "hotel" that is a good start. Service exceptional from entering to leaving. Nothing too much trouble. Ask Alvaro to make his special botanical gin y tonics- pure theatre. Note: hotel is "traditional" and certainly not "boutique" ( which I personally prefer). Pros: all of the above, quality of food, central position ( Prado, Thyssen museums, city centre Cons: who is paying! Air con is a bit wonky.
