Lovely old hotel in excellent location opposite the Sabatier Gardens and 10 minute walk to two Metro stations. Free coffee machine and fruit in the lobby and helpful staff. The rooms are average size with huge comfortable beds and high quality linen. There is a nice lounge and another sitting area where there was a bar but this was not open during our stay. Buffet breakfast was nice and cost ‚?¨12. Would recommend and would stay again.

The location is very central and there is a subway stop near the hotel that will take you directly to the airport in 45 mins. The facilities are OK with free coffee and apples in the lobby. The rooms are well appointed with very good quality sheets and pillows that I was surprised to find in a hotel in this price range. The bathroom was also very good with two sinks, marble floors and countertops, and plush towels. However, the TV was small and could use an upgrade. Our room faced an inner court... Read more

On arrival to this hotel you could see it was a well run exceptional hotel , all stall were well dressed and knew what their job was . The room was exactly what it said although you couldn't see the palace due to the trees but that didn't bother us at all . The rooms were cleaned daily and had great little touches like free coffee ( machine ) , pastries and lovely green apples in the foyer downstairs . The hotel was ideal situated when was only a short walk from the metro, train station an... Read more

A nice (average) hotel with the best location! 5 minutes walking to Royal Palace, Plaza de Espa√Īa, Gran V√≠a... Awesome! There is also subway nearby. The elevators were a bit old and small, but that was not a big problem for us.

Stayed here for 4 nights I really cannot fault this hotel. Situation is excellent-10 min walk to 2 metro stations, and opposite the Royal Palace. On a main road but even in a road facing room at the 3rd floor the soundproofing was fine. Room was compact but well furnished, including a fridge. Hotel air conditioning was excellent Everywhere was very clean and the room was thoroughly cleaned each day The hotel furnishings were good-including a nice lounge off the lobby-with free coffee and apple... Joan, was very helpful and nice. He had a lot of patience to accommodate us. We were group of 4 people. The rooms are comfortable. And the staff clean them each day. Location is great. Behind the royal palace.

We stayed here for two nights. Very comfortable though it needs a little upgrade in places. Staff are friendly and helpful. Though there is no tea/coffee in rooms, which is normal in most European hotels, it is self service in the lounge off the lobby.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast that is offered is nice with traditional Spanish breakfast items offered especially Spanish Tortilla. Be advised the elevators are very small and when we say small we mean the size of an adult and a large piece of luggage size small. The rooms are an average size and we had double windows in our room. There was a small fridge available in the room. To our surprise the bathroom had double sinks. The odd thing was that our family of three ha... Read more

If you are looking to stay in the centre of Madrid, don't look further, this is the place to stay.. Convenient, close to principe Pio station, opera, and plaza de Europa. 10mins walking distance from royal palace and 15mins from plaza mayor. I stayed here 3nights and it was a good experience, the stuff was friendly and helpful, the only bad thing was that the Internet was slow but apart from that I don't have any complaints.

I really enjoyed my stay at Principe Pio. I stayed 7 nights from June 19-26, 2016. Since we were staying for 7 nights, during check-in, I requested a quiet room in upper floors and my request was immediately granted. The bed was extremely comfortable, the pillows were down feather and cosy comforter :) It is the best 3 star hotel I have stayed at. There was a coffee machine available for 24 hours (with many options, espresso, cappuccino, and coffee with milk) as well as good tasting water. Havin... Read more

Booked this hotel through a last Top Secret Hotel so got a good deal. No sure why breakfast is like as it was not included in my stay but the hotel does offer it. Location : Perfect - located 10 minutes walk from the Palacio Real. Easily accessible if you get the metro or RENFE from the airport. You are literally 5 minutes walk from Plaza de Espana and Gran Via. Parque del Oeste is again VERY close by. Room.: I got a double room which was very clean. The room wasn't the most modern ... We really liked the hotel. We arrived very early in the morning so our room wasn't ready which we were prepared for anyway. My only complaint is that we faced the courtyard which was just plain ugly LOL. The walls are very thin so you will hear the neighbors. Wifi was a little spotty. Sometimes worked great, other times we kept getting bumped off. Beds were comfortable and everything was nice and clean. I have honestly never had better customer service than I had at this hotel! The hotel is in a brilliant location close to all the sights. Easy to reach from metro stations. The hotel had all facilities needed, however I would say that it is dated and could do with some updating. Quite noisy on first floor room. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment on this.

Loved the hotel... Location is ideal for all the local amenities. Rooms were nice, metros were close by. The only issue with my stay was my room was facing the back of the hotel so I didn't get the beautiful views of the royal palace! All I got was the fire escape and roof!

This hotel was clean, the front desk staff was always helpful and attentive, The breakfast was above and beyond, with fresh fruit and assortment of pastries, fresh juices and even a pancake machine. The parking , although public was directly adjacent to hotel and offered 24 hour service. We will definitely be back.

Mom and I felt so good there and we definitely are honored to recomend this wonderful place to other travelers around the world! What we loved the most was the welcome and kindness Beltr√°n and Antonio gave us! They made a huge difference compared to the attention given in many other places! Besides of this factor, the hotel is beautiful, extremely comfortable and it has an extraordinary and strategic location in the heart of Madrid! Luis Manuel

The hotel is in a convenient area to sites but needs some maintenance and amenities for what they are charging. Staff was not always very helpful. Hallway carpets stained, needs paint in room as well as simple thing like blankets and a do not disturb sign so one day I got woken up early. They did not even come to clean the room for one of the days as well. Room was clean and did not have carpeting which is much easier to see a clean room. Wifi was spotty and would go out without warning so I got... Read more

Exactly that. As described above. We were struggling with the luggage but received no help whatsoever. Provided no help to identify a restaurant for dinner with their suggestion being at a shopping mall.... is this why we travelled all the way to Madrid?!?!! I wonder if they train their staff. Breakfast was served in the basement on a suffocating atmosphere and heavy ambiance. Would not go again. Not recommended.

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Room was very comfortable with plenty of space and very comfortable bed. We were on 7th floor which was pretty quiet. Lifts are small but typical in our experience - this isn't a large corporate hotel more classic family run. Breakfast was good value with plenty of choice including pancake machine. You weren't rushed at all and staff were quietly efficient although we did have to save our drinks when they tried to clear up while we were at the buffet t... Read more

Spent many years in hotel management and can't imagine an inspector finding much fault. The room, housekeeping, the fixtures, linens, lobby, reception staff, all first rate. Add location adjacent to real, cathedra, plaza espana, and the gran via, and the value room rates and they get top rate from us. Quibbles: slow elevators (common in Madrid), and a little high price on the breakfast package

The bed was also comfortable the scent in the hall was very agreeable. The AC worked well. Wi-Fi was strong in the room. They had in the lobby free coffee, tea, bread and apple all day long. Stayed in this hotel for the last leg of our mini Spanish summer adventure simply based on the cheap price along with its compatibility to walk to city attractions. We arrived late at night (approx. 11pm) but this did not hinder the quick and easy check in procedure. The hotel is fortunate to offer views of the Royal Palace literally across the road, however having a room on the third floor our view was obscured by the trees surrounding the Palace gardens. I imagine on a higher floor the view wo... Read more

No complaints at all. Not expensive, friendly staff, large modern rooms, great location and good breakfasts. The downstairs lobby offers comfortable chairs, free tea and coffee and cakes too - great idea. Restaurants within a few minutes walk are pretty basic but could probably find better ones if you looked round.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. There was no view from your window, but we mainly there to see sites anyhow. Also doesn't have any pool, but again nothing we needed anyhow. We did hear our neighbor come in late one night, so not sure the room is all that sound proofed, but they quieted down by 11 so no big deal. We enjoyed a drink from our own stock since the bar was never staffed. This was a plus for us since we could inexpensively imbibe without it costing much. Room isn't large, but not t... Read more

This hotel does look in the loosest sense onto the palace however there is a busy road outside which needs to be crossed to head across to the palace and this takes away any feelings of calm and relaxation. Checkin was smooth. I had booked a room for 3 people and did not receive one of the highly photographed rooms but merely got a room with 3 single beds in a row, the last one crammed in, to the extent it was very difficult to access the outside space. The hairdryer didn't work and the shower... Read more

We visited Madrid for long weekend break and having booked last minute were delighted with our choice of hotel. Hotel is in excellent position for sight seeing being opposite the Royal palace (this is definitely worth a visit, either buy tickets on line to avoid the queue which can be long or arrive as it opens at 10am). I meant to write this earlier as we were here at the beginning of September. Lovely hotel just a short walk to the Palace and pretty central for everything. The rooms were lovely... crisp clean sheets, lovely toiletries and a nice size room with a fridge and a safe deposit box. Have spent 2 nights, very good location. Plaza Espa√Īa, Sabatini Garden and Almudena Cathedral are 5 minutes walking from the hotel, further to that the Gran Via is near by as well. Clean and comfortable to rest after a long day in Madrid. Good breakfast and nice staff. Ask for taxi service to the airport they offer a convenient rate to hotel guest.

4 nights last week on city break with my wife. This is really a 4 star hotel without a bar. Everything else about the hotel compares favourably with the many 4 star hotels I have been to throughout Europe. We did not have breakfast so can't comment.
