I have stayed at this hotel many times and the first review was not the best due to various factors but the treatmwnt from reception was the main gripe. I understand that there has been a lot of changes at this hotel, including the staff and wow, what an improvement. The Man on reception was very friendly and helpful. I only had to mention that I was in Madrid for Fitur and he was relling me about the free transport to get there and where I could get it from. The room allocated was a big roo... Read more

Older style hotel. Good value and great location relative to main tourist attractions in Madrid. Walking distance to Royal Palace, Plaza de Espana, Prada museum, Naval museum, Parque de el Retiro. Room was comfortable but facilities are outdated. Service was efficient.

Great hotel, great location. Its a quit walk to either Plaza Espana or Plaza Orient. Right across from the Royal Palace which is a great place to stroll about the gardens in the a.m. The Grand Via is also very close. Coffee is free and they have a restaurant that we did not try. The room was on the small side however it had an excellent bathroom and the beds and bedding were awesome. This is an old hotel with lots of charm. There is a convenience store, deli and the dadua restaurant are all with... Read more

We had a pair of double rooms with connecting door on the 5th floor with a view of the royal palace. Overall this was a very good 3 star hotel, almost worth 5/5 for its class. Positives: - Easy walking distance to all the sights to the west side of central Madrid - Rooms very clean - Staff very friendly and helpful - Nice bathroom with good pressure, very hot water - Free tea, coffee, water and apples in the lounge - Small fridge in room with bottled water supplied on arrival - Excellent buffe... The Hotel is close to most sites in Madrid. Sabitini Gardens is literally across the street. There are a few nearby restaurants and night clubs in walking distance. Very comfortable beds, the room was sufficiently spacious. Breakfast was of good value. Front desk staff were quite helpful as well.

We had 2 adjoining rooms, booked for 2 adults and 2 young children. The hotel is aging, but the the beds were comfortable, the room (on the third floor) was quiet despite being on a very busy road. Yes, we could hear cars passing, but it wasn't disruptive. It was central enough for us to see most things by foot, even with a 5 and 6 year old in tow. Madrid is a big place, so you'll probably end up on the metro from time to time anyway. Breakfast was fine, but I have nothing to compare to in Spa... Read more

Clean rooms, friendly staff, outstanding location with nearby access to the metro. My one complaint was that our room was too hot. We tried reporting the problem but all to no avail. We ended up sleeping with the window open (December). We still had a wonderful experience but the heat issue was annoying.

The hotel is lovely with an old fashion atmosphere to it. We asked for a quite room and were lodged on the 6th floor where we could not hear any noise from the busy road outside. Very comfortable beds too so we slept very well. We did not have the breakfast on this occasion but tried the complimentary coffee machine at the lobby and found it to be of excellent quality. The staff were very friendly and in general we had a most pleasant stay. We will come back in the future!

This hotel has an amazing location at the bottom of the Gran Via and at Plaza de Espana. It is a quaint, old fashioned hotel , but that is what I liked about it, My room was very comfortable with a massive bed. The staff were very friendly and professional. This hotel was great value for money in a city that can be very expensive to stay in. i will stay here again next time I am in Madrid

Very comfortable hotel well placed by the Royal palace . The Road was very busy and noisy but our room,505, at the back was very quiet. Everything was as you would expect - clean and functional . Staff friendly and helpful with good English . A nice touch of free 24h coffee machine and a bowl of apples ! I originally gave the hotel 4* but when writing the review and the hotel itself being only a 3* I realised Couldn't have hoped for better and so changed the rating .
