It's in a great location! Good for just in and out stay. Best for busness stay! Very small rooms, noisy area, housekeeping making a lot of noises, speaking out loud on early morning, noisy doors, slamming doors with a lot of eco in a small corridor, very expensive breakfast ‚?¨25 p/p a day! There was no option for a quiet side or bigger room in this hotel. The biggest room it was around 30m2 in total in the quiet side that it was told, located on the inside patium with a view to a 4 walls arou... Read more

Stayed here for a few nights whilst on tour. It is well situated for the railway station, the Prado and many other attractions. The rooms were very clean and very comfortable although they had no tea and coffee making facilities. Free wifi was available in the rooms. Breakfast choice was excellent as was the freshly made food - although the service here was litle slow. The bar was good although we couldn't sit where we wanted as some tables were set for food. This was strange as the bar was... Read more

This hotel is very good for travelers . It's quite a special and elegant. It has comfortable rooms, not so big but well designed and with great bead and facilities . You can see Paseo del Prado from your window . Caffe machine , skin care creams , bathrobe , all inclusive ... And breakfast is incredible in quality and different options : fresh scrambled eggs on demand , fresh fruits , toast , good ham, coffee ,...churros To sum up , incredible and good value for money to stay here

Great location and hotel facilities. Clean rooms and large tv screen with plenty of cable channels. The only thing that made the whole stay terrible was that an employee opened the door of my room at 4pm without knocking while I was resting. Even though he apologized, I don't feel that was enough since it didn't make me feel safe. This is my privacy and it was not housekeeping or room service. You just have to knock before.

Fantastic location, beautiful design - lovely staff in the reception. I was super happy to see that they had both conditioner and a very very good hairdryer in my room, as both are things I never find in hotels. Buuuuut - the breakfast was a big big big disappointment. Too bad as I seconds before entering it told my husband to book the same hotel for our next two trips to Madrid! Exiting the breakfast we looked for another place. Hope you improve it and we will gladly come back!

I stayed at the NH National for 4 nights during a business trip with my husband. What we liked: - very central location to bars, restaurants, museums and public transport - clean rooms - complimentary coffee with a nespresso-like machine What we didn't like: - our room was facing Atocha station and the traffic along Paseo del Prado is always humming along more or less loud with the occasional emergency police cars and ambulances. - no pool - breakfast is at 25 Euros rather pricey for what you ge... Overall a solid 3 star hotel and reasonable value for money. Staff were helpful and facilities were average for the price. The street is not very attractive and there is no view to speak of. It is close to a bus stop for the tourista bus service.

I stayed here on business for 5 days in May which was the bank holiday weekend. On arriving the very friendly and helpful receptionist checked me in very efficiently and after offering me an upgrade (with a charge) which I accepted then was told that it wasn't available and so was bumped up to the level above for the same price which was welcome. Overall the stay was good, I didn't eat in the restaurant but a few drinks in the bar was pleasant. The location is great, restaurants within walkin... Read more

We had a stopover in Madrid, I was able to find a great rate that included breakfast and a late check-out. The location is prime as it is right across the street from the main train station. It is a 2 minute walk to Prado museum. It is a 15-20 minute walk to Plaza Mayor and the Central area. The neighborhoods surrounding the hotel are quaint and full of vibrant restaurants, cafes and bars. Needless to say the location is prime and great. The hotels is located next to a McDonalds. We have stayed at N H chain hotels before in Nordlingen, Germany and Padua, Italy and the experiences were great. Being a Spanish chain we figured we could not go wrong. We chose the Madrid Nacional amongst a group of NHs due to its location on the Paseo del Prado, 5 minutes from the Prado Museum and 5 minutes from the Retiro Park. We also walked to all of the main attractions and places of interest like Puerta de Alcala, Cibeles, Gran Via, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Palace, etc. But mainl... Read more

Very good location within 5 min walking distance from Atocha station. Some attractions are also within 15-30 minutes walking distance. The staffs were professional and customer oriented. We had a room on the 4th floor facing the street, a major avenue; but the noise insulation is very good that we didn‚??t hear much street noise. The room is a little small. Short stay as all of the NH hotel clean, good service and very close to the Atocha station. The breakfast was very expensive for what it is. I stay during this summer two times and I found it to be comfortable and clean. If you are traveling by train is a good option to be close to the station.

This is a very comfortable and traveler friendly hotel. Was totally surprised by a tray of sweets on my birthday from the hotel manager. Very unexpected, but so perfect. My husband and I stayed for two nights at the beginning of our trip to Spain. We took the C-1 bus line from the airport (5 euros each), which dropped us off at the Atocha train/bus station. The hotel is located right across the street next to the McDonald's. Reception was polite and helpful. Our room was small but functional and very clean. At the time (early July 2016), the Atocha metro station was closed, so we couldn't use the metro as we had intended. There is a Museo de Jamon restaurant a f... Read more

When you visit Madrid, this is a great place to stay. It is close to everything, you can walk to Museo del Prado, to the park, to the citycenter.... There is a metro stop next to the hotel (Atocha) but when we visited it was not running due to scheduled maintenance. The railway station is very close, just in case you want to visit Toledo or another place in Spain. The hotel is quiet, spacious, clean with a lot of marble in the hotel lobby. Nice visit, excellent staff, nice rooms, comfortable bed, good free wifi., lovely shower, wide variety of tv channels with a number of them in english. Only concerns, had room on 4h floor facing canal, windows were on the thin side and let sound in at night, especially when bars were closing. also would recommend a luggage stand be provided in the room. no where to really place you luggage except on the bed or desk in the room. or on the floor.

The Hotel is located at a walking distance from the main museums (Prado, Reina Sofia, Thyssen-Bornemisza), the Botanic garden, Parque del Retiro, and near a metro station and the train station of Atocha. Unfortunately, that metro line was out of service (improvement works), but it is possible to walk to the main attractions that were more distant (Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real...). We enjoyed staying at this hotel as the breakfast was lovely all fresh ingredient and even catered for gluten free diets. It was a shame that our room was a bit on the small side and it faced the main road. The staff were friendly and the sweets at reception was a nice touch. Atocha station near by, but not the most pleasant station in the world.

Visited this hotel during Jun and stayed 3 nights, the location was amazing but the service wasn't great, the associate don't look like they like what they do, they can't go any extra mile to express the clients, that could be because they are overloaded or they are just not happy. Came at 1pm and they give a small and noisy room and when I asked for a better room they asked me to wait until it gets ready and they refuse to give the first room to rest in until the other room gets ready, hence w... We rented our room through Expedia. On the of our arrival we could not check in unless we decided to pay 25 Euros extra per day for "superior" room. Ladies at the check-in disk spoke rudimentary English only, not understanding what we said, but pushing for the upgrade which we refused. They said "you cannot afford it", which is not kind. Stayed here with some friends and have to day that there isn't much to criticise. The rooms are nice, modern and clean and we even had a little balcony with a great view. That really made up for the rather small size of the rooms. Most importantly, staff was nice and helpful. Receptionists might need a bit of a training as they seemed lost and generated long waiting.
