Beautiful hotel and superb location. Personally I thought the hotel was a little bit hot. Your key is also used to turn on the power in the room, so there's no way you can keep the AC on while away. And then when you turn it on it takes a while before it kicks in. The staff also needs to smile a little bit more ū???

Pool and location are truly fantastic- but there are some areas that really ruined our visit... Firstly, as a disclaimer, I am a British tourist but I used to work in Madrid. I speak Spanish fluently and am perfectly aware of how the service differs between here and the UK and other parts of the world. A few bits to comment on: 1. Staff- Weird attitude from some members of staff, others were perfectly friendly. For this hotel to live up to the 4 star rating- they all need to be singing off t... Read more

Group of 10 girls on a hen do- great location in the theatre district and also very close to some great shops. Rooms were clean and spacious. The pool area was lovely with some fantastic views of the city. Food and drink was a little pricey by the pool and you have to get there by 11:00 to get a sunbed. Overall good hotel with all the amenities you could ask for on a short break.

Great location!! Our stay was kicked off to a great start, as we were upgraded upon arrival to one of the biggest hotel rooms I have stayed in anywhere in the world. Service was great, concierge really helpful, and the rooms beautifully appointed. I wish I could remember the staff member from breakfast - he was super friendly and provided great service. He looked African American and was a big guy, but I don't recall his name, sorry :-(

Positives, Perfect location, very good standard of decor, room really nice, pool area a great bonus and really nice, fantastic views from rooftop. Negatives. Very expensive food, mini bar, drinks etc. It is so cheap outside. Lifts a bit small and slow. Pool a bit chilly. Overall. Go there and do it, for the price it is a fantastic city break.

We choose the hotel for its location and pool area. The location is fantastic making it an easy walk to everything which is important in Madrid. The lobby and common areas are in the old grand hotel mode. The room we got at the back of the hotel was quiet, but the decor was tired and the room dark as it looked out onto a internal courtyard that was more internal plumbing area than view. Our room had the shower in the bath which had high sides. It would be very difficult for an older person to g... Read more

Have just returned from a delightful long weekend in fabulous Madrid and stayed at the excellent Emperador Hotel. With it's rooftop pool and stunning city views it is in a perfect location for sightseeing and shopping on foot and there is a Metro station across the street which makes a great base for a visit. I suppose we were expecting more from this hotel as we had paid for the "Romantic" package where you were promised a room upgrade, bottle cava, 5% discount and late check out. We paid ‚?¨467 for a three night stay (breakfast not included). Our room was extremely average so I can't comment as I didn't get to see a comparable room to see how bad that room was pre upgrade. I stayed here for 3 nights in early June on a trip for my girlfriends birthday. The hotel itself is in a perfect location in the middle of the bustling Gran Via and has a pleasant grand exterior. Had a great stay here. We picked it for the pool, which was really nice as the weather was very hot. The rooms are not very special. Traditional, with no extras. We have stayed at this Hotel many times and enjoy the ambience, staff and the Pool. However, despite over 30 friends having provisionally booked for World Pride in June 2017, we are all HUGELY disappointed that prices have been DOUBLED on those of 2016. This is a strange mix of a hotel for several reasons; *The interior is quite old fashioned and traditional despite being refurbished in 2006 - red carpet mahogany furniture net curtains etc - all perfectly clean and pleasant just the feel of an older style hotel. The rooms are similar in style although perfectly adequate and clean * you then go to the roof terrace which is the main reason we booked this hotel in the Madrid heat and it's all Bali beds, Ibiza music, sofas and the sweetest cockta... The hotel was lovely, the rooftop area with pool really made this break away special. Great service and fantastic position in the centre, you only have to step outside and you're surrounded by great shops, restaurants and bars. I would warn you that the pool was absolutely freezing though and a little too cold to stay in for very long, but great if you want to cool off when it's really hot. Did the rooftop tour which was fantastic to see all the sites so would highly recommend.

Tthey moved me to five different rooms. I did not need anything fancy, just clean. Clean is a word they do not know. I have videos of the door slamming five times and the amount of dust falling from The air vents looked like snow. One room had mold on the floors, in the bathroom, the headboard looked like it had been picked that, and the rug was disgusting. The second room they move me too had moths in it. I killed a few of them and then had to leave. I did not want the moths in my clothes. The ... Read more

The Emperador Hotel is an excellent hotel in the heart of the historic city center. Easy access to the Prado, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Great rooftop bar (and pool) for enjoying the evening sunset.

Had a great stay at this hotel. The location on Calle Gran Via is great and you're within three minutes to all the big shops and a few more minutes to Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace. The hotel itself is very nice, the service was excellent and the room I had, was bigger and better than expected. After my sightseeingtour through the city I spent the afternoon at the pool on the rooftop of the hotel. Very large, clean pool and the area around has enough sunbeds for joining the great weather in... Read more

We stayed for 6 nights and were looking forward to another lovely trip to Madrid where a rooftop pool was on offer. Our room was dated, missing light bulbs, carpet was very worn and over all the room needed a little tlc. The rooftop pool was a welcome slice of relaxation with great views of the city. It's a shame that the upstairs at the pool area was closed even when it was very busy around the normal lounge area. Overall we had a pleasant stay, we spent most of the time visiting our favourite... Read more

What a brilliant find! Best location on Calle gran via - we walked absolutely everywhere! The rooms were spacious and well equipped and not forgetting the rooftop pool. Such a delight - the drinks, service, and food were amazing! Definitely order the chicken, cheese bites and daiquiris from the pool menu. Loved this place and would return again in a flash.

The hotel is in a fantastic location on Grand Via so is easily accessible and the room was surprisingly very quiet considering the street noise below. The double Windows do a great job. We booked this hotel mainly for the fantastic pool area but unfortunately due to the weather we weren't able to make the most of it. With better weather this would be a great place to relax. What was disappointing was the service we received: On arrival the person on reception could barely bother to look up fro... Read more

A friend and I stayed here for 3 nights while attending a wedding in Madrid. The best part about this hotel is its location! It's right on Gran Via and a perfect place to be to walk to different sights. The hotel is on the older side, and could definitely use some updating. The bathroom also had a weird layout, that made it a little awkward to get around in it. We had booked a room that included breakfast, but it was completely not worth it. The 1 day that I actually made it to breakfast, ... Read more

Room for two with Gran Via view (no. of room 424) - I can recommend to everyone :D I loved it - big room, big bed, big bathroom, and the balcony - lovely! There are double windows so it's very quiet in room when they are closed so you don't have ot hear the noise outside. Great central location for this hotel with very good public areas, including the bar and the buffet breakfast, but especially the rooftop pool and bar area. Although the pool was to cold to use (early Oct & not heated), it was great to sit up there with a beer and admire the view over the city. Our room was basic, but it was clean and functional. A better room would have improved the stay, hence the suggestion of trying to upgrade on booking.
