The Mayerling Hotel was crafted from scratch out of a former factory space, so the designers had free rein and every design detail was carefully considered. They chose to create a minimalist, monochromatic, boutique space (just 22 rooms on its five floors). The spare aesthetic was slightly shocking on my first encounter in person - I had studied photos online, of course - but I quickly warmed to it as I found that the design honors the needs of human beings first and visual impact second (with... We stayed here for 2 nights on our city break. We couldn't believe how close to the metro it was, just a 5 minute walk. Check in isn't till 3pm so we went to drop off our case at 10.30am. We were told our room was ready for us which was lovely so we could freshen up after our early flight. The location is in walking distance of everything and we couldn't have been happier. Room very clean, shower fabulous and breakfast great. We couldn't fault this hotel and will return later in the year.

The Mayerling sits slap bang in the middle of Madrid and offers tremendous value in a City Centre hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff, a real pleasure to stay there. We will certainly return the next time we visit this great City.

First time in Madrid. Excellent hotel. First of all good service. The moment I got there the lady at front desk offered me travel tips around the city and maps . Then its the location. Located next to the metro or just walking distance to the restaurants and Plazas. The rooms are incredible, chic and modern. Always cleaned and comfortable feeling. Will book again when I come back to Madrid!

We spent four nights at this lovely hotel, advertised as two star but felt much better. We had flown in from Malaysia so we were very tired, Jani the lovely young lady at check in made the process quick and efficient. The room was clean very well thought out, our room on the third floor overlooked the street but was very quiet despite there being a festival in Madrid to celebrate their patron Saint. The bathroom was a separate shower and toilet facility with mood lighting in the shower room, the ... Read more

Hotel Mayerling is honestly one of the best hotels I've visited. The reception staff were immensely helpful, friendly and approachable. Breakfast was good value for money at 5?, and the rooms were great standard. Would seriously recommend.

Very good location, old building that has been totally modernised inside with quirky art and white walls. Lift (elevator) to all floors. Breakfast good and, on my trip, included in the price. For a central hotel excellent value for money. Nice touch are the "disco lights" in the shower. Comfortable bed and good-sized room at the front of the building. The staff are a credit to the hotel - more than helpful and very obliging. I will stay again when in Madrid and can recommend.

Stayed at this hotel in May of 2015 with my girlfriend. Trip was for a much needed vacation but i turned into an engagement trip, she did say yes! This hotel was conveniently located to plaza Mayor were we walked to several times and enjoyed dinner and shops as well as some nightlife. The room was a perfect size for the 3 days we were staying, we were out exploring majority of the time. Showers were hot and A/c was nice and cool. This is not the most elegant hotel one can find, but it is hard to beat in terms of comfort, convenience, and staff friendliness. The breakfast buffet is quite nice and varied. The day we left they even put it out a half hour early to accommodate our travel schedule. This is a place we'll return to gladly.

The hotel room was simply furnished but clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfast had plenty choice (cereals, toast, pastries, yoghurts, cold meats, juices coffee machine and a micrwave if required. ] The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, ... Eluska and Grancario were helpful with recommendation and very friendly whenever we talked to them. Room is small, tidy, modern and clean. I just wish they have a small Refrigerator in the room, or ice machine in the breakfast room, as we had to ask couple cubes of ice daily if we wants cold drinks. Breakfast was plenty and I especially enjoy fresh fruit and 24 hours cafe! Walking distance to Sol metro, Plaza Mayor, Plaza Santa Cruz, lots of shopping opportunities as well can't be any more co... Fabulous location 5-7 mins walk from Plaza Mayor and tons of bars and restaurants. The hotel is on a one-way side street which is quiet. Check in staff at the lobby was friendly and helpful. They offer free coffee/tea all day and a continental brekkie for ?5 per day. The room was small but clean. No in-room safe. The bathroom, in particular the shower stall, was tiny and instead of a wall separating the bathroom, there is a glass wall with a curtain. I didn't mind it as I was travelling with ... Read more

The hotel is easy to find, a good 5 minutes walk from one of the biggest metro/train stations (Sol) in the center of Madrid. The rooms are nice and tidy, but basic. Breakfast is also somewhat basic, I was hoping for a bit more options or something warm/fresh. The staff is very friendly. My room was facing the street and Spanish people, especially during the weekend, party all night long. So there is a lot going on in front of the hotel, which might disturb light sleepers. We loved our stay at the Mayerling. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. Breakfast was a small spread but good quality and we were allowed to eat before official start of breakfast when we had to leave early for a day trip out of Madrid. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Overall, Mayerling is a great hotel to use as a base for your Madrid explorations.

The hotel is very basic and small, but it does the job. It's in a good location, has a basic breakfast and it's clean. It can be too small, but for the location it's worth it. There aren't too many things to make this hotel a 5-star, but I would recommend it if you are looking for a good location place to stay.

The staff were amazing they allowed for an early check in which was a complete blessing after a long flight!! The view from my room was amazing!! It was clean and the breakfast was modest put provided a great selection!! The location was perfect! The only downside is in Madrid the people never sleep so there was a lot of noise on the street until 4am but the hotel has nothing to do with that! We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The staff is super nice and speaks good English. It is just one block away from the Tirso de Molina metro station (light blue line #1). This part of the metro was closed for renovation and we used the Sol metro station instead which is an easy 5-10min walk from the hotel. I traveled all across Spain this time around, various cities. I am comparing this hotel to those hotels. This was the only one I used in Madrid (3 times) so there may be better out there. I wouldn't know. This one is noisy as heck, as construction to the buildings next door started real early in the morning. Also both rooms I slept in faced the very noisy street. The staff were so friendly and helped us choose and book a flamenco show (even got a discount for booking via hotel !). The breakfast was very welcome in the mornings and so was the tea and coffee available all day in the lounge. Would definitely return to this hotel if we are back in Madrid.
