If you are looking for a great hotel at a moderate price that is centrally located, then the AC Carlton Madrid is a perfect choice!! It is located within a 10 minute walk of the Atocha Train Station, where you can catch many of the high-speed AVE trains that can take you to many distant cities in Spain in a jiffy!! Also, the hotel is just a very brief walk to the famous Reina Sophia Museum, where Picasso's famous "Guernica" may be found, and a short walk to the Prado Museum, filled with world fa... Read more

My daughter and I were flew into Spain for three days and Madrid was one of the locations. My daughter booked this hotel due to its proximity to the train station, tourist attractions and price. It's a very nice hotel and the ladies at the front desk were very helpful. Our room wasn't ready so they locked up our luggage and we started our visIt.The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the train station and about 15 walk to the Museo Nacional del Prado. It has free wifi but only in the lobby.

Great hotel for Madrid base.reception and all staff very polite and helpful, spotlessly clean. We were lucky with our room, lovely double bath and shower Also a great sun terrace. Location is ideal for doing the tourist stuff. The Arazba restaurant which is in the Sofia reina museum building was great for a special occasion meal. Beautiful garden setting and really good modern Spanish food. Only 5/10 mins from hotel

This is a great spot to stay if you are going to be doing any traveling by train. It's 2-3 blocks from the main Atocha train station, and is also an easy 10-15 minute walk from the three major, world class museums, including the Prado. Clean and very friendly and helpful staff. The one less-than-perfect part of the experience is that the AC part of their HVAC system is turned off during the cooler part of the year. It isn't turned on until about May 1 and were there, unfortunately, at the en... Read more

Constant Companion recently spent 12 evenings at the AC Carlton. We were visiting friends in Madrid, attending exhibits at the Prado and Thyssen, travelling to Segovia, Toledo, El Escorial and Valle de los Caidos amongst other things. This was our 3rd stay at this Hotel in the last 4 years. We find the AC Carlton to be a well maintained property, expertly managed, impeccably clean, with a friendly English speaking Front Desk, an awesome breakfast, and in a convenient location. I know that Marriott has tried to position this as a hip/budget hotel. The room was tiny, the drapes were torn and didn't block the light and the wifi was slow and unreliable. The front desk staff wasn't helpful when I went to see them about these things. And as a Gold Elite member, they put me in the lowest level room, opposite the stairs and elevator. I would avoid this one if you can.

This hotel fits your needs and is a great place to stay. It is not a luxurious hotel, but it will do the job. When you walk in you are greeted by extremely kind and efficient front desk people. In the entrance, there is a small lounge area along with a bar. Then you reach the two tiny elevators. When I stayed there, only one was working, so it was a long wait to get upstairs and downstairs. The elevator could barely fit 2 people with 2 suitcases. When you get upstairs, you enter a dark hallway w... Read more

We stayed here on two separate occasions separated by a side trip. The first stay was not good. Despite my Marriott Gold status we were treated poorly. The front desk staff was horrible and the person who checked us in was simply rude and arrogant. She seemed to be annoyed by every question. The room was small and not very comfortable. The beds are very small. As this was a vacation the location is actually very good. The second stay was better and we were upgraded to a much larger and... Read more

Usually I wouldn't give five stars unless a hotel was what I would call perfection but in this case I can overlook certain aspects because the good is just that extra mile! The reception staff are friendly and speak English well which is a big help! The hotel has that older look but the inside is well maintained and our room was very comfortable. There was even an extra door between the bedroom, bathroom and entrance giving the room that extra feeling of seclusion. We had a room on the 7th floo... Read more

We only had 14 hours here, wish it had been longer. The location is ideal for those traveling from Atocha Station, a walk of less than 10 minutes. Atocha Station is two stations, one for long distance trains, the other for local trains including the one to the airport. The local station is tricky to get to from the hotel--you have to traverse the lower level of the long distance station. The staff was very friendly, but I did not have a comfortable stay. I was here on business and I travel with a lot of bags. Yes, there technically is parking HOWEVER it is a couple of blocks from the hotel. The main entrance has stairs, and if you need help, you have to go in and ask them to open another door, which does not work well when you are alone and have bags. I reserved a Jr Suite which was nice - a good size for EU.
