We ran Transvulcania 2016, and this was the official hotel, plus one of the few available with direct UK flights as a package. If it hadn't been for the race this week, I think the average age here would have been 50+, but also bear in mind there seems to be little or nothing for kids. That said, it's quiet, relaxed, and clean and although it retains many features from its construction in the early 1990s (just my guesswork) it is very well maintained and usually spotlessly clean throughout. We stayed at this hotel from 28th April to 5th May 2016. We had a lovely holiday. The hotel is great. It is spotlessly clean. The bedding is changed every couple of days, the towels are changed regularly. We went on a half board base. The breakfasts were fantastic, there was loads of choice (buffet style). The evening meal was buffet style and again there was lots of choice and basically the food was very good. The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend ... Read more

Currently staying at the Taburiente Playa and what a pity about the noise that spoils what could have been a peaceful holiday. The painters are painting the outside of the hotel so some areas are a no go, the builders are renovating the apartments right next to the pool. Being 5 minutes from the airport you get the planes taking off, luckily there are not many flights so this is not really much of an issue. Back to the actual hotel. The rooms are kept tidy with clean bedding every couple of da... Read more

When we arrived at the airport, we decided to follow the advice given on Trip Advisor and take a taxi to the hotel to beat the queues. We informed the Thomson rep and went outside. There were about eight taxis on the taxi rank - but not one of them had a driver ! We waited with some other would-be passengers for about ten minutes but no driver turned up so we went back in to the rep and asked if we could go on the coach which we did. It takes about 4 minutes to get to the hotel. and there were o... Read more

Let me start by mentioning that there is currently some refurbishment work going on at the hotel, repairing roofs and walls and lots of painting, it doesn't look like it will be finished soon, it's not overly bad, you can still relax by the pool and get about just fine. Generally I would say that the hotel was very good value for money and after the refurb it should be even better. The place was pretty clean, our room was cleaned every day and towels were replaced as and when requested. Our room... Read more

Having read previous reviews there was no problem with check in, 3 people on duty and less than 5 minutes to be processed. We had breakfast and evening meals. The food choice was very varied and did not seem to repeat on a rolling basis as other reviewers suggest. The grill did some excellent fish and I especially enjoyed some pork and lamb dishes. The buffet at breakfast enabled fresh fruit for starters followed my bacon, eggs, sausages and beans (English to the core!) but all types of continen... Read more

Fantastic weeks holiday, travelled over for the Transvulcania ultra marathon and the hotel couldn't have been more helpful/accommodating. Rooms could do with a freshen up but everything worked and the views from the balcony were lovely. We had a sea/mountain view and apart from hard beds we couldn't find a fault. Stayed half board and found the food to be fresh and varied, plenty choice for a wide variety of crazy ultra runners, they opened the breakfast on race day at 02:00hrs and left it op... Read more

Just returned from a week‚??s stay at the Hotel Taburiente Playa, in La Palma, we went full board. The Hotels decoration is superb, the giant wall painting of the waterfall, the living green vines that trail from the balconies of each floor, and the real waterfall and pond feature are wonderful. The reception is light, airy and spacious and the bar and restaurant are immaculately clean. The rooms are spotless and kept clean every day by hotel staff. The location of the hotel is excellent: both the ferry terminal and the airport are less than 10 minutes away, parking is abundant, and views of the ocean are pleasant. The hotel is quite pleasant. The lack of power plugs (I could find only two under a desk) and the absence of WiFi in the rooms suggest to me that the hotel is older than it looks. The buffet meals were quite good, though there was less variety than at the other H10 hotels (in Barcelona and Tenerife) that I stayed at. Personally, ... Read more

It was not crowded, so there were plenty of available sunbeds. There is a towel service, but towel man was sometimes difficult to find. The heated pool was 27 C so its very comfortable, the non heated was 23 C. Planes fly directly over the hotel before they turn east, but they stop early in the evening so no w... Read more

The Hotel is nice, I quite like the inner vines and a waterfall. There is lack of attention to detail though: - No wifi except in reception (really?, its 2016) - mediocre food: fruits are good, the grill is ok yet restricted options, they change the buffet option often enough. But in general the food is quite bad. Mostly cold, the meats i've tried have always been dry and hard. - No iron: I have literally asked for an iron at least twice a day for the last three days. This hotel really does provide a very friendly, efficient service. We have been there several times over the past 15 years and it is the service that attracts us. We do appreciate a restaurant where tables are always available at mealtimes and this was the case again. Taburiente Playa looks and feels like a trip back to the 1990. The hotel is modern and for La Palma quite big, but everything looks and feels dated, from the multi-storied atrium with its fountains and waterfalls to the spacious but tired looking rooms. In a very typical package-holiday-style-hotel meals are served in a large buffet restaurant with indoor and outdoor tables - there is a very wide choice of mostly mediocre, tinned, pre-cooked food that with few exceptions is 'international', blan... Traditionally, this part of La Palma has been the place for walking the mountains and popular with Germans and Dutch. More recently U.K. tour companies have added it. As a vegetarian, when holidaying I usually resign myself to a diet of fruit and toast. Here I have been spoilt for choice and everything is so yummy. Last night I had a black bean soup followed by, a chicken pea salad and then. A sort of ratatouille with garlic rice. Then a cakey thing for desert as the mouses and jelly might contain gelatine. I also had peaches as I love them and cheese. And crackers.... It was a veritable feast. So many many thanks to whomever the chef is. The staff at dinn... Read more

Room 109 is in a corner and so the balcony feels a little cramped. There is nothing glaringly wrong with this hotel, it is fine, there is just nothing special about it either other than it is on La Palma which is beautiful. It is about two miles into Santa Cruz and the 500 bus runs half hourly. Santa Cruz bus station is a jumping off place for anywhere on the island. A one week holiday is about right for this hotel.
