This is one of the higher standard Holiday Inn hotels - very modern, clean and comfortable. Exceeded expectations having stayed in numerous sister Holiday Inns. The location isn't central but isn't too far out either. A 20 minutes walk downhill to the old town area of Casco Viejo (which is full of character). Suggest catching the Metro uphill to Santutxu (one stop), 200 yards from the hotel. Alternatively take the magic (time machine) lift from Casco Viejo metro station and walk the remainin... Read more

We spent 2 great nights in May. The hotel is out of the center but metro to Casco Viejo is only a 10 minute walk. The hotel is next to the beautiful Basilica de Begonia and from there a lovely walk to the old town, either via stairs the whole distance or via elevator half way to the Casco Viejo metro station. This is really a nice walk down and metro back up. We received a Platinum upgrade to executive floor with fantastic view of the city and surrounding hills. Hotel is modern, well mainta... Read more

The Holiday Inn at Bilbao is a very good place to stay at, whether for family or for oneself alone. the hotel is good also for business travellers. The dining area is very pleasant, with a large variety of food items, even during the morning breakfast. the rooms are quite comfortable.

I was very well surprised, I find a very comfortable hotel, new, with designed common areas, perfect to relax, have a drink, a meeting or work a bit. Spacious rooms, big tv and one of the best beds I find. Restaurant with tables of different heights and sizes. Delicious buffet for breakfast. Excellent service as expected. From the hotel you can easily walking and find several places, like Mendia, to taste tapas and other specialities.

Excellent choice at breakfast. We ate in restaurant on three evenings. V good food. Staff helpful. Huge problem was lack of English among staff. This led to wrong food coming and caused problems at the bar. Should not be difficult to have someone with English around to sort out these problems. We had some Spanish but most people did not. A fridge in the bedroom would be a good idea.

We don't often stay in chains on weekend breaks as they can be a bit generic, however this Holiday Inn is newly furnished and the lobby style is more boutique style than large chain. For an easy booking, where you want to know what to expect I would highly recommend. From the map it seems a little way out from the old quarterly but in reality it is a short 10-15 minute walk through the backstreets to plaza neuva. Note it is at the top of a big hill so would recommend you arrive by taxi!

Simple but nice Hotel. Good design and nice staff. Rooms are tiny but expected. Great lobby and Reception area. Good quality breakfast and the open bar in the lobby during the night is a smart idea. Integrated private Wellness Gym is a great addition. Also here the parking a bit of a rip off, rather than this , a great choice.

Everything is good about this hotel except the location. There is nothing close by. No decent restaurants unless you take the metro to Viejo Casco. Great hotel if you don't plan on leaving the premises. Caters to a business crowd. I wouldn't recommend it for tourists at all. Pros: nice rooms, great breakfast, decent bar area, well decorated, staff is very nice and helpful, nice view and area, nice pool area. Cons; Nothing in walking distance, far from any restaurants, limited dinner choices.

I stayed 2 nights here on a business trip and found this to be an extremely average hotel in a poor location. The breakfast buffet was adequate and the lobby area had obviously had a makeover rendering it bright, light and functional but the rooms were poorly soundproofed, flimsy and depressing. The bathrooms were ok though - obviously recently re-fitted too although there was no bath, just a shower. We needed a 8 Euro taxi just to get anywhere - we left the 'Horrible Inn' wishing we'd done ou... Read more

Spending 2 nights at the Holiday Inn while sightseeing in Bilbao. We often stay at Holiday Inns, especially in the USA because of their fairly consistent standards. You know what to expect and we usually get what we expect. The Holiday Inn in Bilbao is no exception. Very helpful staff who are well trained. Decent sized clean bedroom and bathroom with a very good bed. It is reasonably priced. I asked for and got a quiet room. Breakfast is included. This has to be the best inclusive breakfast I ha... Excellent business hotel. Only for real bilbao visit you may choose something closer to center. Even so in 30 mins walk you can reach it

The first impression on arrival is of the spacious lobby, lounge and bar area. It is modern and stylishly furnished and feels much superior to a traditional Holiday Inn. I had booked a superior room and was impressed with the room - particularly the large bathroom with a good rain-shower. It was slightly annoying that there were no Do Not Disturb signs to hang out but then I was not disturbed. I noticed there was an empty fridge in the room but it was unplugged and there was no socket in sight.... Read more

This is a busy hotel with lots of locals using it as a fitness center. - Feels more like a fitness center than a hotel. - Busy ground floor with fitness center guests hanging out. - Hotel Guest feel secondary - Parking is full because it is the same one being used by the fitness center. - the location is odd because there's no right turn into the hotel upon arriving in Bilbao. Confusing for travellers who will go there using their own cars. GPS won't advise it. - Hotel parking is expensive. ... Read more

A typical Holiday Inn. Very new, well furnished and very comfortable. Staff were charming, friendly and very helpful. There is underground parking which is quite expensive and access a little tight. A good breakfast and dinner reasonable. Televisions everywhere in the lounge area-difficult to escape from. A 10/15 minute walk to the city centre. This is a great hotel.

Our first impression of the Hotel was that of a chain and very much on the edge of town - an advantage if you are in a car as the City centre is not easy and parking difficult. We were located at the Hotel for two nights afterr our flights were cancelled due to the French Air Traffic Controllers Strike. It is 20 minutes from the Airport in a Taxi - 22 euros. The reception staff were excellent as were all the other staff. There was lots to like about the Holiday Inn Bilbao...contrary to other reviews I felt it was in a great location just 15' downhill walk to the Old Town & main sites of the city and the nearest metro station was less than 5' away sparing too much exertion on the way back. I stayed in a standard room which was spacious, well equipped & with a great bathroom - a couple of minor downsides were the absence of a fridge/ mini-bar and there was no information guide in the room to let you know about hot... Bilbao is a fantastic city, and while this hotel is not located in the centre (metro nearby), it fits with the style of the place. The very modern and attractive lounges, restaurant and rooms are comfortable and have a feel good factor. The staff also fit in with the general well-being feeling, being friendly and relaxed. Food is also surprisingly good. Pool is nice too. All good here!

Well it lives up to Holiday Inn Standards, very clean, welcoming staff and well appointed. Spacious room with all modern facilities. We ate at the restaurant the first night which was good, but not great (the order was wrong). More of a business hotel i'd say but a regular bus service into the centre was cheap and convenient. The breakfast was extremely good - huge variety and served by courteous staff. All in all great value and would recommend to anyone visiting this lovely city.

Loved everything about the hotel (lovely new decor). The room was spacious, very clean with lovely bathroom. The breakfast was really nice (fresh orange juice, fresh omelets, very good selection of sweets and the best churros I have ever tried?). The only thing I did not like was pretty noise air condition. The metro station is only 300 m away (but as we like to walk we did not use the metro and went everywhere on foot, it takes about 15 minutes to center of the town).

It is your typical Holiday Inn, well located near the metro to get you to the Guggenheim and the Casco Viejo. It is clean and the staff friendly. My major problem is there are no drawers to unpack your foldable clothes -- you can hang clothes but the rest you live out of your suitcase. Also the shower is difficult to figure out -- never could get the lower hand-held spray to work. It does have an outdoor pool, and a fitness center which costs 20E a day and massage is available.
