I've just come back from a few days away in Benidorm staying at this hotel. What i liked about this hotel was that it was on the door step to the beach and a lot of local bars and restaurants, which made for quick and easy trips out using my wheelchair. On the subject, i would like to thank the staff for being receptive to and accommodating my wheelchair during my trip. I don't have any complaints in respect of my trip to this hotel, though i would've liked if the hotel had been a bit more d... Read more

I'd agree with what previous reviewers have already said; it's a little bit tired and in need of some TLC. But its excellent beach-front location and close proximity to the old town make it a good value for money option. Rooms are spotless, but it's definitely worth splashing out on one with a sea view. Breakfast is plentiful and tasty.

I stayed at the Mar Blau a few years ago but had a sea view room. For this stay I was unable to select a sea view on the Jet2 website so I guess they were all reserved. On arrival I was given room 305 on the third floor. I was shocked to find it was a very dark dingy room with a very small barred window. So dark I couldn't see inside my safe or take a decent picture of the room. I didn't complain as I just assumed all the back rooms were like this. I noticed a maid service area next to my room ... Stayed half board, food excellent. First room we had was worse we had ever come across, was small had bars at window and paper thin walls - we could hear absolutely everything from adjoining rooms, asked to change rooms and was given sea view room which was amazing. Will definitely return to this hotel but only to stay in sea view room. Staff were very friendly, especially lady on reception. Location is perfect, right on beach

We upgraded to a sea view room on the original booking with the Jet 2 website and it was "Well Worth the Money". We also changed from half board to full board for a further £10 each (14 nights) and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality and choice of the food. The rooms although a little basic, had all mod cons (Flat screen TV, safe, toiletries, free air con). Our room had no hairdryer, but, when we asked if we could hire one at reception, we were given one at no cost ! Rooms were kept v... Read more

this hotel looks right out onto the beach. Really good location. The rooms are very clean with very regular changes of bed linen and towels. We had a room at the back, and yes, you can hear traffic - you are in a town!!! We stayed half board and the food was perfectly adequate. In fact, a lot of places I have stayed only have cold food for breakfast. I have to admit that occasionally the food was not as hot as it could have been - but I think that is down to the cabinet, rather than the co... Read more

The Food was awful, we tried it for the first 2 days then ate out for the rest of the holiday.the room was a touch on the small side, even for 2 people. no fridge/cooler in room,no way to keep water or juice cool.the aircon was stuck on 26degrees the first night even after reporting the problem.there were no english speaking channels on the tv.on the plus side the location was ideal for the beach just across the road & great view of the beach & the sea, its also just a few hundred yards from the ... It was the first time we had been to benidorm, I was a bit aprehensive as this hotels reviews were mixed, But I would just like to say how lovely it was, we didnt have a sea view and the rooom was small but adequate, I dont go on my holidays to spend it in my room so as a base point this place was ideal, the staff were freindly and nothing was to much trouble. The food was good plenty of choice for everyone.

If you book this hotel make sure you book a Sea Wiew room, these rooms have a great outlook and are of a very high standard. However if you get a room with a back street view you don't want to be any lower than th sixth floor. These back rooms are of a much lower standard, and some rooms are below street level. We booked and paid for a Sea view room, but spent the first two nights on the 4th floor at the back. very noisy and dark, also overlooked, so no privacy Staff fantastic, food good, Bar & ... Could not fault the hotel where it is situated, over priced in my opinion and Please make sure you have booked a sea view as I thought I had with jet2holidays it cost £115 more but worth it for the view. This is the first time we have stayed in old town and we do prefer it, it is a lot cleaner. Plenty of shops and places to eat and drink of course but I really cannot comment on the food as we go half board. It was about 15 minutes to walk into new town. We had lovely long walks and one day we w... Read more

Fantastic location right across from the beach. Need to take a travel kettle and room could do with a fridge. Sea view is a must but still quite noisy on a night. Supermarket right around the corner for essentials. Food was good and glass of wine to go with meal very cheap at ?1.40 could go back as many times as you want nice salad. We stayed 4 nights and the weather was fantastic. We walked to aqualandia which was quite a trek but got a taxi back which was around ?13 if you go to aqualand... Read more

I really can say the only good thing about this hotel is if you pay for a sea view room that is what you get.Its like turning the clock back to the 1970s. Paid a fortune for a 4 day break .Arrives at the hotel charged for using the safe. Charged for Wi Fi. Charged for water with your meal. One lift permanently used by cleaning staff. The walls are paper thin. The TV no English channels are on the wall so if your neighbors decides to watch Spanish TV then you have to listen to it. No extras whatso... Read more

Arrived at the Port Mar Blau to be greeted by the friendly receptionist who swiftly allocated us to our sea view room on the 5th floor. Room very clean, basic but all was functional including excellent bathoom. We stayed full board, very good food for 2*, have stayed at 5* in Spain and this food was up there with at least 4*. Unfortunately we only stayed for 4 nights wish we had stayed for the week. All the staff were really friendly and professional, they helped us and could not do enough !... Read more

travelled from Australia back to the U.K. to see family & friends. We like to have a couple of side trips whilst here so we spent 10 days in Benidorm. We stayed at the Port Mar Blau hotel. This is a small (Adults only) hotel situated opposite the beach in the Old town, a 2 minute stroll to the shopping & cafe areas. This was the perfect place. The hotel itself could do with a bit of up-grading & decorating but the staff were friendly, meals were lovely, good choice of foods. We were on request f... Read more

Would not go back as it was impossible to upgrade to seaview as all spanish guests had these .and would be afraid of getting a room at the back as they are horrible looking straight into apartments across the way.we were very lucky we had room 803 at back it had great balcony .lift only goes to 7th floor so this floor would not be good for somebody with mobility probs .we were full board and the meals were beautiful great variety loved everyone .hotel in in a lovely spot just a pity about the r... Stayed here for 11 nights. Well it makes me smile when I read others peoples comments about there stay here. As many previous comments have said you need to book and pay for a sea view room in advance which we did and had a lovely room overlooking the sea front. Perfect. Plenty of choice for food and drinks prices were good for an hotel. Rooms are cleaned every day with fresh bedding/towels. Staff are so helpful and always smiling. Overall we had a great time here. The hotel is well located, in front of the beach. Nonetheless, this is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Old, noisy (you hear everything inside and outside the hotel), dirty, poor services, the breakfast is terrible... but the worst of all is the staff. While the cleaning ladies make impossible to sleep after 9am, and they will enter your room without knocking, the staff at the reception desk are totally unprofessional and impolite. They are incapable of providing WiFi (even if you ... Read more

We were a group of five girls and felt very out of place in the hotel, there isn't a pool and although we were told we could use the sister hotels pool it was a different story when we were there, it was mainly older couples who liked it for the quietness in the end we paid extra to move hotels it wasn't for us.
