I've just come back from a few days away in Benidorm staying at this hotel. What i liked about this hotel was that it was on the door step to the beach and a lot of local bars and restaurants, which made for quick and easy trips out using my wheelchair. On the subject, i would like to thank the staff for being receptive to and accommodating my wheelchair during my trip. I don't have any complaints in respect of my trip to this hotel, though i would've liked if the hotel had been a bit more d... Read more

I'd agree with what previous reviewers have already said; it's a little bit tired and in need of some TLC. But its excellent beach-front location and close proximity to the old town make it a good value for money option. Rooms are spotless, but it's definitely worth splashing out on one with a sea view. Breakfast is plentiful and tasty.

I stayed at the Mar Blau a few years ago but had a sea view room. For this stay I was unable to select a sea view on the Jet2 website so I guess they were all reserved. On arrival I was given room 305 on the third floor. I was shocked to find it was a very dark dingy room with a very small barred window. So dark I couldn't see inside my safe or take a decent picture of the room. I didn't complain as I just assumed all the back rooms were like this. I noticed a maid service area next to my room ... Stayed half board, food excellent. First room we had was worse we had ever come across, was small had bars at window and paper thin walls - we could hear absolutely everything from adjoining rooms, asked to change rooms and was given sea view room which was amazing. Will definitely return to this hotel but only to stay in sea view room. Staff were very friendly, especially lady on reception. Location is perfect, right on beach

We upgraded to a sea view room on the original booking with the Jet 2 website and it was "Well Worth the Money". We also changed from half board to full board for a further £10 each (14 nights) and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality and choice of the food. The rooms although a little basic, had all mod cons (Flat screen TV, safe, toiletries, free air con). Our room had no hairdryer, but, when we asked if we could hire one at reception, we were given one at no cost ! Rooms were kept v... Read more

this hotel looks right out onto the beach. Really good location. The rooms are very clean with very regular changes of bed linen and towels. We had a room at the back, and yes, you can hear traffic - you are in a town!!! We stayed half board and the food was perfectly adequate. In fact, a lot of places I have stayed only have cold food for breakfast. I have to admit that occasionally the food was not as hot as it could have been - but I think that is down to the cabinet, rather than the co... Read more

It was the first time we had been to benidorm, I was a bit aprehensive as this hotels reviews were mixed, But I would just like to say how lovely it was, we didnt have a sea view and the rooom was small but adequate, I dont go on my holidays to spend it in my room so as a base point this place was ideal, the staff were freindly and nothing was to much trouble. The food was good plenty of choice for everyone.

If you book this hotel make sure you book a Sea Wiew room, these rooms have a great outlook and are of a very high standard. However if you get a room with a back street view you don't want to be any lower than th sixth floor. These back rooms are of a much lower standard, and some rooms are below street level. We booked and paid for a Sea view room, but spent the first two nights on the 4th floor at the back. very noisy and dark, also overlooked, so no privacy Staff fantastic, food good, Bar & ... Could not fault the hotel where it is situated, over priced in my opinion and Please make sure you have booked a sea view as I thought I had with jet2holidays it cost £115 more but worth it for the view. This is the first time we have stayed in old town and we do prefer it, it is a lot cleaner. Plenty of shops and places to eat and drink of course but I really cannot comment on the food as we go half board. It was about 15 minutes to walk into new town. I really can say the only good thing about this hotel is if you pay for a sea view room that is what you get.Its like turning the clock back to the 1970s. Paid a fortune for a 4 day break .Arrives at the hotel charged for using the safe. Charged for Wi Fi. Charged for water with your meal. One lift permanently used by cleaning staff.
