This hotel is in desperate need of repair and renovating. We were a party of 9. 6 adults and 3 children aged 13, 11 and 5. It has some good points, which I will come to however the bad outweigh the good. We arrived at 1am , check in was so slow, it took over an hour for us all to get checked in. We booked a Double Standard room with Ultra All inclusive, having Ultra All inclusive meant you got named branded drinks, however it didn't make any difference and everyone got the same drinks. ...
Also on our Ultra All Inclusive we were entitled to 2 free excursions but unless you go to reception and remind them you weren't given any tickets or reminders during your stay, so if you book Ultra then do make sure you go to reception and ask them about your excursions.
The rooms - these were very dated and grimy around the edges. Engraved in our drawer was girls names signed 04, so that shows at least how long its been since renovating. The Air Con unit was old, very noisy and the knobs removed so you cannot set it yourself, we had water running from it and down the window, the curtains were sopping wet as was the floor. The plug sockets, not all worked and 2 were hanging from the wall. The beds uncomfortable, you could feel the springs and had a large plastic sheet under the main sheet. The shower curtain hanging off the wall, wobbly tiles on the floor, piece of cardboard stuck in the electric switch as you walk in the room, bathroom had a permanent sewer smell. The lifts were so slow, I gave up waiting quite often and walked the five flights of stairs. The only time they seemed to be ok was in the early hours of the morning.
The pool was Freezing cold, even the little childrens play area/pool was freezing cold, the kids were shivering - not heated at all and there are no loungers around the main pool (these are on the roof), there are plastic chairs however, There are about 10 loungers around the childrens play area pool. As for the loungers on the roof these were fine however there are no umbrellas or shade on the roof, and as you can imagine gets very very hot, so we ended up going to the beach everyday and hiring beds with umbrella which is a shame as we generally enjoy sitting around a pool.
Ok, so there are some positive points to this hotel. The price we paid was cheap, The bar staff, reception staff, waiters etc... all brilliant. The pool bar was good. The food was good, a good selection, not overcrowded, they always accommodated our party of 9 people, drinks were very good, all named brands. They made a huge effort to celebrate Halloween and lots of decorations and was nice to see the waiters getting dressed up and enjoying themselves. You could get bottles of water anytime of day or night, we had a picnic one day which was okay. The Magic Cafe and the pub by main reception always had a good atmosphere and the entertainment team, Charlie and Mark in the Cafe were brilliant, as were the bar staff in the Magic Cafe. The location of the hotel is good, a 10 minute walk to the beach but close to the shops and bars in the Old Part of Benidorm. The Mega Game experience is brilliant for kids but for our stay the kids had to go outside of the hotel to get to it through another door even though there is an inside connecting door.
We had a great holiday but unless the hotel makes some major renovations to the rooms and pool area we wouldn't go back here.
