Brilliant time away for 4 days in Barcelona. The service was ace and the staff are polite. The WIFI is really fast. Only downsides was they ran out of extra pillows and we had to wait until the next day for them. Also our room view was of the roof which is expected in the city depending on what room you book. Very clean rooms has some English channels on the TV. Brilliant walking distance from the Catalunya square and other shops, Ramblas etc.

We were only in Barcelona for 1 night, and booked o Late Rooms. Hotel was fine and location was good for where we wanted to be. Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Room was basic, but clean and parking was underneath the hotel wit the entrance right beside the hotel door.

This hotel provides the basics: clean rooms, friendly staff, good WiFi, and an excellent location. The pool on the roof is nice, but it's pretty small. The roof is really best for laying out and enjoying a bit of sun. And that's about it. Many rooms have windows facing into the middle of the block. Breakfast is not included and is a major rip-off. Rooms are not particularly big or nice for the price. I had a very nice time in Barcelona, but wasn't particularly wowed by this place. If you can g... Read more

Booked The Sunhotel through Thomson Holidays. On arrival to hotel we were 2 hours early to check in so they let us leave our cases with them & advised us to go back in an hour. Very friendly staff on reception & extremely helpful. The room was very comfortable & clean. Bed was comfy & the en-suite was massive especially the shower cubicle. Continental breakfast buffet had everything one could ask for & was very quickly replaced when the food was getting low. We would definately stay there again.

Firstly this is a very very basic (aka tiny) hotel. We didn't book it as it came with a package tour we took with Tempo Tours. This is the type of place I wouldn't book for my worst enemy. Reception is small and very basic. Check in was ok. But then came our room!! A postage stamp would put this room to shame. It's about 3 metres square and the bathroom was like a cupboard stuck in the corner. You could barely squeeze inside it with the door open. The walls in the bathroom were a tin substance ... Had a lovely comfortable stay here, although the decor is a little dated, it was clean staff very friendly, breakfast was lovely, we only wandered up to the pool to see what it was like so never actually made use of it, all in all really couldn't fault the hotel, but may suggest the odd English Channel on the TV as they were all Spanish, just so we could watch the news etc. Barcelona on the other hand, beautiful city, but really didn't live up to my expectations, glad I've been but sorry to say ... This hotel definitely deserves its 4 stars, from welcoming and helpful staff to a spacious room and amazing rooftop pool it was the perfect destination to stay. Room cleaned everyday, and requests when booking were seen to. Location 10â?¬ taxi to beach but overall very happy with the stay.

The hotel location was very good, we were a few blocks from Casa Batllo in one direction and Las Rambalas in the other - and very close to a Metro for the further places. The room was simple, clean and very nice. We didn't have breakfast so no idea - about the food. The hotel also gave us a bottle of Cava (for our honeymoon -which was surprising and very nice). The pool was very nice - smaller then it looks in photos but we did enjoy it for one afternoon. We would recommend this hotel. The... Read more

Everything I requested such as a top floor room with balcony was actioned. Rooms were kept spotless. My shower was leaking but fixed quicker than I could get back up stairs to my room after reporting it. Roof top pool and spa bath is a welcome bonus and there are plenty of fresh towels and beds. Staff were all pleasant. Location to Metro first class. Airport bus near enough drops you at the door. 200 yards away. Will stay again.

I was at this place with my wife for 4 days in Barcelona. Good location. Little far from la Rambala but walking distance and access of taxi metro and bus all easy very good staff. Little choice for veg in breakfast so we did not opt. Even bread had eggs. But vegan and Indian choices nearby. Supermarket and carefor nearby in 100 mtr. Little overpriced. Overall we were happy.

Visitors beware of Crazy Cancellation Fees. Placed the order through, and in the email it stated that as long as it was cancelled 24hours prior to checkin arrival, it would be free of charge, but if not, it would be a charge of first nights stay. Well I cancelled it early morning the day prior (well over 24hours), and still received a charge. had one representative tell me I was completely right, but Sunotel said a different policy would not give the funds back. Myself and a friend came home yesterday from Barcelona, the room was clean and had everything we needed. It was a very hot weekend so we used the pool facilities which were also we kept (a little shade would have been nice though). Nowhere to escape the sun but still very pleasant. Check in/out very quick for a busy time of year too.

Pluses: - Staff is helpful (reception and cleaning). - Breakfast is good. - Room is quite big (standard double room), pretty big bathroom with good and comfortable shower. - Location is pretty good, very close to the metro and not far from many sights. - Swimming pool on the roof is small but nice. - 2 computers with internet available in the reception area (free of charge). - Good wardrobe Minuses: - The air conditioner was not working properly when we arrived. Just spent 5 days in this charming hotel . My first visit to Barcelona. Good location. 10 mins walk to The Rambles so not noisy when you want to put your head down after the end of a fun filled day. The rooms are not massive but comfortable for a short city break. The roof top pool and jacuzzi were ideal and always managed to get a lounger. Didn't eat at the restaurant but it always looked busy. Reasonable location, although in a more residential area and we found it difficult to find somewhere to eat close by that wasn't tapas or fish orientated. The hotel has underground links close by and Is about a 15 min walk to catch the bus to the airport. The staff at the hotel were friendly and courteous at all times. Overall very clean and we'll kept. I was disappointed with room, as it was very small and always dark with insufficient electrical lighting. We struggled to move around the roo... Read more

okay, maybe I passed the age of sleeping in below-average places. No, this was not a good hotel albeit centrally located. breakfast was okay-ish, rooms old and small, beds awkward, bathrooms need an upgrade and wifi was unstable. all in all: I will not return to this hotel.

booking a 4 night break for myself and my teenage granddaughter I did not expect to be given a room with a double bed. The sleeping area was very cramped but the bathroom had a large luxurious shower. Expresso machine was great, fridge too but bought our own wine from little supermarket couple of doors down! Metro stop Universitat close by but we walked alot. Perfect! Hotel was within walking distance of buses and metro and an easy 15 minute stroll to Las Ramblas. Room was bright and clean and the bathroom amazing! Spotlessly clean. But we drew the short straw with the room. The window opened into the central light well which meant no air or view and the air con was barely functioning. Fridge was useful. The roof terrace with pool and jacuzzi was nice after a day sight seeing. But they could have made so much more of it with just some plants or lighting. And it closed at 9pm. Would have been nice to have an evening jacuzzi as going out for dinner was quite hard work. There's lots of the same type of food... Read more

Just come back from another stay in this hotel and it always delivers. Really great location. Aerobus from the airport stops a 2 min walk away and there are great local bars, cafes and small supermarkets nearby. A 5 min walk to Catalunya but just enough away to give it a local feel. The university is nearby and a couple of nice bars in the square opposite. Rooms and staff are good and the addition of the Nespresso machine in your room is really nice.

It's been over 6 years since my last visit to Barcelona and at that time I stayed at Sunotel Central. So when I decided to revisit the city I thought I would stay at the hotel again. Why, well location wise its quite central,5 minute to the gay quarter and around 10-15 min stroll to Las Ramblas. We did not have breakfast as there are plenty of coffee shops around at a cheaper price. The room was very clean and had a mini bar and good air con. Great location but not a four star by any stretch of the imagination. It's not dirty and the bathroom and room was ok but it doesn't compare to any 4 star I have stayed in before especially given what we paid £700+! The staff are polite and accommodating, the hotel is clean and the bathrooms are very modern and spacious (I have never seen such a big shower head in my life). My wife and I stayed for a week here in Barcelona late September 2016. We wanted something simple, clean and comfortable and did not need anything too fancy. The one thing we were hoping to find was helpful staff; I can report that we were very pleased in this area. Poor value for money- period. I've been in equally nice European cities in luxury hotels that cost a fraction the price of this one. Wonderful location near the top of La Rambla and a straight drive in from the airport. Lots of shopping and plazas nearby and a few places to eat. Really liked the breakfast but the lobby was pretty tired and dingy and the whole décor could have been updated about 20 years ago. The person at the reception has been extremely kind and arranged the change immediately. The new room was identical to the first, but with a bigger bed. IMPORTANT! Location, location, location. That's the biggest positive of the Sunotel Central in Barcelona. Right on the Gran Via, it's less than 2 blocks from the Universitat Metro station, there are buses that stop right outside the hotel, and a bunch of museums and galleries and shopping within walking distance, as well. I just got back after 3 nights at this hotel. After reading the mixed reviews on this site, I was a little leery, to be honest. But both Barcelona and the hotel proved to be well worth t... Read more
