We stayed 4 days in Barcelona at this hotel , in our opinion , deserves at least 3 stars . friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms , great location to visit the main city ‚??‚??attractions and proximity to bus/metro stops for public transport . The only flaw the wifi which unfortunately did not work . excellent value for money! recommended

We selected this hotel even though it was only two star because it was very central to several areas we wanted to visit. Having never stayed in a two star hotel before we had already told ourselves not to expect too much. On arrival we were booked in and told we had to pay for our stay immediately, not a problem only with manner it was asked. We went to our room and was surprised to find it only shoe box sized!!! The room was stifling and we could not get the air conditioning to work we went to... Read more

Stayed here as it was near a hotel my family were staying at and had no availability - was a bit wary of this cheap and cheerful hotel but had no problems with it - got a great price and enjoyed my stay. Near public transport and great value breakfast although I did not partake of it. Staff did lie about the air conditioning (it was disabled due to the "winter" - it was quite hot when I was there) and they claimed it was broken and being fixed. Apart from that they were very helpful and made my ... Read more

This middle-sized hotel has a quiet location very close - walking distance about 3 minutes - to Barceloneta underground station. The quarter of Barceloneta with its beaches is close by as well as La Ribera, one of the attractive historic town quarters with narrow old streets, small squares, shops, restaurants, bars and the Museu Picasso and the gothic church of Santa María del Mar. There are a number of small super-markets in the vicinity of the hotel. The inside of the hotel has a modern appe... Read more

Simply cannot fault this place. It has clearly had a recent refurbishment as the rooms and common spaces are all really modern and clean. We had a twin room with a balcony (balcony was off the bathroom but was lovely to have!), The room has a hairdryer in the bathroom and is very modern and clean. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the location is just perfect. It is easy to walk to the Gothic Quarter, rest of the old town, Barceloneta and the beach, Las Ramblas etc etc etc. ... Read more

I'll start with the bad points which at the beginning of the stay far outweighed the good: -The air con didn't work therefore the rooms were unbelievably hot. When this was raised with the reception, I was advised that the air con is an old system and it too large/old to easily replace. Therefore it is all on one loop meaning the whole hotel is set at the same temp. This to me is not good enough in hot temperatures. It was miraculously fixed on our last but one day...not quite the air con I'm ... Read more

Stayed here for a few nights end of May / beginning of June. The best thing about the hotel is the location. The beach is about a 5 minute walk away and Barceloneta subway station is literally a 60 second walk. You also have Ciutadella park on your doorstep which is lovely. Lots of little restaurants, shops and supermarkets nearby. The room itself is quite small, but is modern and well decorated with comfy beds and cleaned every day. Didn't really see the hotel staff too often as we were out eve... Read more

The hotel was nice to stay in. The food was ok. The bedroom was fine. Was hard trying to get the bath to work, the shower kept going on. Only down side. A basic simple hotel. Lovely staff. Down stairs was nice and clean, the bed room was clean. The bed was fine. Glad we had a to in the room and done channels were in English

We were looking for a place to stay for one night before flying out of Barcelona, and the Santa Marta fit the bill. The location beside the Franca train station is very convenient. The room was not the sort of place you'd want to spend a lot of time, but when you're in Barcelona, why would you stay in your hotel room? Everything worked, and there were plenty of plugs to charge up our devices before the flight back to the states. The breakfast buffet was fine, especially the fresh local fruit.

I was a little be scared to stay in such cheap 2 star hotel so well located. It was a blast. The staff was very nice and attentive, the rooms were amazingly clean, renewed and well decorated. Small but spacious enough. The location is amazing, though the hotel is in the city center is located in a parallel street, which represents really silent nights and perfect sleep. They phone you everyday to check if you need cleaning or any supplies, which was very nice. I didn't try the breakfast so no op... Read more

This hotel was perfect for my stay in Barcelona - walking distance to the beach and very near my friends apartment in Barceloneta, yet very central for going up town. Great value, very clean, modern and very comfortable bed. Some reviews complain about size of room, low ceiling, etc but that does not bother me. I do not visit Barcelona to sit/lie in my room. I left in the morning and returned in the evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Just one negative point - the wifi was not c... Read more

This hotel I think has recently had a make over. Was very modern and clean. Breakfast was good. Location of hotel is ideal for people wanting to explore the city and is also close to the beach. The tube stop is very close, along with several restaurants for dinner. Bus stops are also near by making access anywhere in Barcelona easy. I would stay at this hotel if I returned to Barcelona.

This hotel has a very good service, but the beds are uncomfortable and tiny. Its a cheap hotel for staying between 2 to 3 days. The food is fine for a two star hotel. The rooms are very tiny if you bring friends or family. The place it is hidden or hard to find if you are new to Barcelona. Should you go: Yes, if you're going to stay for a very short time. No, if aren't solo or want to stay for long periods.

Slightly smaller room than expected but overall a very nice stay. The hotel was very modern and was very centrally located to everything. Say hi to Alonzo at Negro Carbon right down the street! Best mojitos I've ever had. Front desk staff could be a little bit more welcoming, though.

Toiletries , hair dryer, safe in room for small charge or 2euros a day. Breakfast was included in our real answer was basic but good. Las Ramblas was approx 10 min walk. The hotel is very well located, close to the train station gives easy access, and just 10-15 minutes walk from the beach as well as to Las Ramblas. Good service (24h), better that one may expect of a two-star hotel. Decent breakfast to start your day, and the hotel is in a quiet street with almost no noise.

I stayed in the Santa Marta Hotel for 7 nights. The check in was quick and easy when we arrived the man in reception was friendly and spoke very good English which is helpful. There was a slight confusion with the check out dye being two days earlier than I had payed for but it was quickly resolved, which is good. The room was clean tidy not too big but enough for what we needed which was a bed air con and a bathroom. The safe you have to pay 2‚?¨ per day extra. The room was cleaned everyday and... Read more

We stay here as a family (2 rooms) for two nights. Very clean, great location and helpful staff. Would definitely use hotel again and would recommend. It is close to the gothic quarter in very easy walking distance and also close to the harbour. There is a church square over the road that has a number of lovey restaurants.

I stayed here for 3 nights. Excellent value for money. It is in a great location only 10 minutes walk from the beach and 3 mins walk to the Metro. Lovely reception area for chilling if you wish. Very clean. The rooms were very basic but everything you needed with a lovely bathroom. The towels were replaced with fresh ones, beds made and room cleaned every morning. Lovely buffet breakfast. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again if revisiting Barcelona.

Being a 2 star hotel, we weren't expecting too much when we arrived in Barcelona. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the rooms and the friendliness of the hotel staff. The reception staff were available 24hrs to answers any questions we had and places we wanted to visit and ordered taxis for us whenever we requested. The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk from the beach, restaurants and a metro station.

The best 2 star hotel I have stayed in! Spent 3 nights here, is in great location - 10 min walk to the beach and not far to la ramblas (main shops/street) and also 2 mins walk to the Metro. Very clean rooms with new modern bathrooms, friendly staff and fantastic air con! Would stay here again and recommend to friends. Free wifi that actually works was a bonus!

Myself and my friend stayed at this hotel back in April 2016. The weather was pleasant and there's plenty to do. For a 2 star hotel, it's very good. The hotel is centrally located just behind the metro but within a short walking distance of the beach,Las Ramblas and the gothic quarter. The hotel itself is fairly small, but if you're away on a short break it provides everything you need. We paid for bed and breakfast, however the breakfast wasn't much so personally I wouldn't bother with that aga... Read more

Very nice hotel, with nice clean rooms. Air conditioning is very nice in summer. Much nicer than 2 star. I wouldn't say it's cheap (definitely affordable) but it doesn't feel cheap inside. We were really surprised this is a 2 stars hotel, everything was so big in a neighbourhood of small buildings, even the entrance of the hotel felt very premium. Barcelona itself is very walkable as we expected from an European city, and the hotel's location just made it perfect by being in between downtown and the beach. We thought we just had to sign for using the safe key, it was not clear to us they'd charge it as a service extra, it was still only 4‚?¨ for 2 days.

The hotel was in an old restored bilding and nice. The only bad thing was the doors, they were very difficult to open and noisy. The breakfast takes down the points because it was very poor. Not even cheese only some salty sausages. The location can't be better and the staff was ok.

Took a short break at Hotel Santa Marta in Barcelona. The locacation is excellent for visiting the city and also close to the beach. Large and extremely clean bedroom and bathroom, very helpful and polite front desk staff and very good buffet breakfast. I really don't know what the hotel was like, but it appeared to be decent for the minute we were there. We made reservations months in advance that we could not cancel.
