The location of this hotel is perfect for tourists as many of the sights are within walking distance. The breakfasts were excellent and were served in a lovely dining room overlooking the outdoor terrace. The terrace itself was a welcome sanctuary in the late afternoon after the sensory overload of Barcelona. The reading room/lounge and "business centre", also on the first floor, offered quiet retreats in which to read, relax or check emails. However, the bedrooms are smaller than they appear o... All I wanted was a central hotel for a few days. Ideally it would be intimate, stylish and Spanish in atmosphere. Oh yes, with clean, newly decorated minimalist rooms. Helpful desk staff and a high standard of housekeeping? And near a supermarket and the historic Gotic area but not big, generic or noisy? Is it Pushing it to expect reliable free wifi? I got it ALL at Granvia. It is easy to take an airport bus to its final stop and walk 5 minutes, virtually in a straight line, to the front... Read more

From the front desk staff, the location, and room - all excellent. The breakfast was among the best and most generous we have had! Huge breakfast with specialty coffees, juices - anything you could want. Our room was a superior double - it was as expected. Clean, quiet and newly decorated. We also used the laundry service - it was outstanding. Same day service with reasonable prices. We found the location central and taxis were plentiful when we wanted one. Three adults and a child stayed in a two bed family room. The bathroom was almost as large, and very modern, as the bedroom. The room was overlooking the patio area. The included breakfast buffet had a fantastic selection and was excellent. The only negative was the one tiny elevator. The elevator was 'odd' in that whoever pressed the button on whatever floor first, that's where it went to. We had to take the luggage from/to our floor in several trips. The hotel had 'old world' charm. I wo... Read more

We had 2 days n Barcelona after a cruise and picked the Granvia for its location in Eixample, 1 block from the Laza Catalyuna. The entrance and the lobby with its grand interior staircase lead you to think it's a formal ornate hotel, but the pictures on the wall say different. The rooms are contemporary and unfussy. The bathroom had a lovely glass enclosed shower. Everything was immaculately clean. Our room wasn't huge; the bathroom was carved from one corner. The hotel is old world -like in it's style and decoration. The rooms are good size, clean, neat, and very airy and very updated. The best thing about this hotel besides Oscar at the front desk is the location. You can't really get more centrally located than this. That feature alone would bring us back to the GranVia. This was our first experience with the NH chain and can't say enough about how consistently neat and clean they are.

Hotel's location is very convenient to some of the main sights but so are a lot of other hotels with better accommodations and better service. The hotel is overpriced for what it offers plus I was really offended by a waitress who was taking care of people in the terrace and her companion in the kitchen, whom I did not see but heard, trying to tell her to turn down my request for some ice in a glass that I wanted to add to an orange soda I brought down from my room to drink while I was using ... Lovely clean rooms in a spotless hotel. Pleasant staff except for the grumpy male receptionists, the women on reception were lovely though. Minimalist facilities in room,no coffee making or iron and no drawers in our superior room.Nice breakfast with lovely terrace.Easy walking distance to most sights and shops. AC in room had a mind of its own,big tv which we hardly watched as there were no English channels apart from the news. Would recommend.

the Hotel is clean, the location is good - few minutes from Placa Catalunya, and the architecture interesting. However, the room is bare, more like a business class hotel. This is a much better hotel than its 3 star rating. Fantastic large rooms with high ceilings, awesome bathrooms, clean design and excellent housekeeping. Wonderful bar, lounge areas and outdoor areas - quite unique design. Breakfast is adequate and tea and coffee available free all day with a nice touch of afternoon tea pastries etc. provided at a very minimal cost. Couldn't ask for a better location. The hotel is located right by great restaurants and sites to see. The lobby gives way to a big staircase with high ceilings to the next floor where you feel like you're in a mansions lounge - here they serve tea and breakfast. Outside is there atrium with cozy outdoor seating and pretty fountain. Loved the feel of this hotel! Our room looked inside to courtyard and had a killer terrace with table and chairs. Excellent surroundings, very handy to the main areas of Barcelona. The rooms are finished to a high standard. Cannot comment on the food as we were room only but breakfast was an option. We stayed with a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 infants and the room was perfect for our needs. Very helpful staff made our stay very memorable.

The hotel is friendly, the staff are extremely helpful, and speak English and have a good knowledge of how to get to places. The rooms are clean and recently refurbished to a great standard, the bathrooms are clean and modern and the rooms we had air conditioning. Beautiful hotel in a great location. Very nice room in a modern masculine style. Breakfast was very nice with very good quality on the food, but would appreciate better coffee. Service can be somewhat better and WiFi needs to be upgraded for the perfect experience, but overall a very satisfying visit.

The hotel is nothing but a smoked glass canopy from the street, but inside, is a stylish and well equipped, quiet hotel you'll be surprised at. The reception staff are excellent, helpful and very friendly. We were in a family room and it surpassed our expectations. Large double (two big singles together) and a very comfortable sofa bed that didn't swamp the room. Extremely clean and air conditioned. The bathroom was amazing. We are just completing a five night stay at the Hotel Granvia and cannot say enough good things about it. First of all is location. While not located in the center of action, the Hotel Granvia is situated in a nice location within easy walking distance of Place de Catalunya. The neighborhood is residential but has many excellent restaurants nearby. Your wife will be happy to know that one of Zara's largest stores in less than one minute walk from the Hotel Granvia. We stayed at the Hotel Granvia for three nights in May 2016. I was skeptical at first because the price seemed to good to be true, but we weren't disappointed. Centrally located with a subway just outside. Hotel is very attractive and clean. Not the most luxurious place, but it hit all the marks for me - location, value, cleanliness.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 1 night on our way home from a holiday to Spain and was very impressed. We were greeted at reception from a very helpful receptionist who checked us in and gave us our room keys, giving an extra if we wanted to keep the aircon on while we were out. Having gone to the room (418) great views of the terrace out the back of the hotel, we noticed that our double bed was 2 twins pushed together. A former palace, this is a beautiful place to stay and the rates are quite reasonable. We spent five nights there and enjoyed every moment. The continental breakfast is extensive and tasty. Afternoon tea on the terrace is wonderful. The terrace is a nice retreat from the busy city streets where you can sunbathe or sit in comfort under numerous umbrella covered tables or comfortable couches and chairs. The room was well appointed. They also have a business center/library where you can relax... Read more

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Gran Via. Reception staff friendly and helpful (good English). The room was small, but clean and well presented. The window opened into an internal space, so no nice view. However, we knew we were booking the most basic room and it was clear on the website what it would be like. The terrace is a lovely space to sit and have a drink. We paid for inclusive breakfast which was excellent - a great selection. Location was superb - a short walk from airport bus dro... Read more

We stayed for some days in March / April 2016 in the Junior Suite, which was extraordinary. It was a big room with a big bathroom and a cozy bed. Everything was clean and the colors of the room fitted perfectly. The service is super nice and the check-in very fast. The hotel is in the centre of Barcelona and only 5min away from Placa Catalunya. We really enjoyed our stay there and when we will come back to Barcelona, for sure we will take this Hotel again. Thank you very much for this stay!

We stayed 3 nights, in a classic room, at the Hotel Granvia before a cruise that departed from Barcelona. It is a charming boutique hotel that is decorated in modern décor, but has the old traditional charm, with the beautiful staircase, of the palace it once was. Our room was small, but it had everything we needed, including a mini-refrigerator stocked with items for purchase. We didn't have much of a view, but we asked for a quiet room away from traffic noise. I liked how our room had a lit... Read more

Hotel Granvia is on a very busy street built with subways running underneath it. Consequently you might want to get a room above the first floor. Our superior room on the first floor was large and very well appointed. Some rooms have showers and some have baths with very high tubs. If this is an issue for you, ask for the shower. We like quiet hotels! You see, we live in the middle of the countryside and although it's great to visit a city, it's sometimes difficult for us "country bumpkins" to nod off at night. So to find an elegant, peaceful hotel where when one asks for a quiet room, that's exactly what one gets, is a real treat. Our stay was just for one night but I could have stayed a lot longer.
