Gorgeous building, clean and comfortable. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building but our room was modern and spacious. The staff were all very helpful, efficient and friendly. I would be very pleased to recommend this hotel to my friends and family. It is very centrally located, right off The Ramblas. Couldn't have asked for better.

Rooms near the street are a bit noisy. But, overall a nice place to stay. I would stay here again if I return to the area. The decor is modern and it's near the street market. A great area to base a stay.

We arrived at this hotel to a warm welcome from the staff. The hotel is fantastically located. We booked a double deluxe room and on our second day realised that the TV was broken. The concierge came up to our room and was extremely helpful but unfortunately it could not be fixed and so we were upgraded without any fuss or problem whatsoever to a Junior Suite. I would definitely 100% recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone who is lucky enough to be visiting the fantastic City of Barcelona

We stayed at this hotel for one night before taking a cruise from Barcelona. We booked it based on location and previous Tripadvisor reviews. The staff were really friendly and helpful, in particular the bellboy and the bar manager. The location was excellent, although previous reviews said they felt uncomfortable walking down the side street the hotel is on, I can honestly say I didn't. The building is beautiful and renovated really well. Rooms are quite small but realistically in a city like B... Read more

We stayed four nights. Very pleased with the location, as steps away from La Rambla, the Metro and the Gothic Quarter. The hotel was beautiful, old but with fully modern rooms and bathrooms. Great staff and for my friend and I, a real treat was getting home after a hard days sightseeing and going to the roof top bar to view photos, plan our next day and let our feet recover!

We are an older couple and stayed four nights and the hotel was just right. Not big but with all the grandness of large hotel, room small but modern and well appointed we had a room with balcony looking down the street, beautiful. Pool and rooftop bar. Didn't eat at restaurant but looked well patronised by locals. Walking distance La ramblas. But 5 stars goes to Omar at reception for all his help. We left a bag with all passports and tickets and documentation in a taxi. And Omar was wonderful h... Read more

What a find this boutique hotel is. Located less than 1 minute off La Rambla is this little beauty. We were greeted at the check in with all the info we needed and then personally presented with 2 very fresh muffins and a bottle of refreshment as a welcome, nice touch indeed. Magnificent location as well. Although just off the famous La Rambla the hotel is in fact very quiet, as we are in room 409. Thoroughly modern room in a charming intimate building. Would come back again for sure.

Hotel Espana is situated on one of the small streets just off the Ramblas. The street is full of telephone stores and you can walk the back way to market full of fruit and fruit juices. There is even a little tiny grocery store just in front. The hotel looks like 4 or 5 star. Rooms are tiny, but modern and clean. They are situated around a plaza so not much noise. No noise from the Ramblas. They have great blackout drapes, so you can sleep late if you had a late night out. Amenities l... Read more

We checked into this hotel the day we sailed back from a Mediterranean cruise just for one night. The clerks at the desk were very nice and very accommodating. The room I stayed in was very modern and clean. There are two problems with this hotel. The first one is that once you leave the lobby area and go to your room, there is a big open atrium that the rooms encircle. Everything echos! If you close the door it echos, if you speak it echos. I heard a family coming in late and it sounded lik... Read more

We stayed in room 408, which was a great room. Faced out on front of the hotel down the streets with Juliette type balcony. Room was very modern and large. The bathroom was large and while it's very modern looking, the sink is shallow so water splashed out quite a bit. Also, the partial glass door on the shower head did not seem to go to the bottom so when you showered, quite a bit of water sprays onto the floor. There is a drain in the floor and you can just use your towels as rugs so not ... Read more

Fabulous location, walking distance. We ate out at envy meal for our 3 day stay and enjoyed a variety of restaurants and bars. The best part of eating out was the food markets a block away for breakfast and lunch. Staff at hotel very helpful. Room clean and bathroom large. We had a room against the wall of the opera house so could hear all the music at each performance. Barcelona is a noisy, action packed and busy place, especially in this district. So probably expect a bit of noise. La Rambla ... Read more

I went here with 20 of my friends for my stag weekend and all went smoothly. Good staff, clean hotel with lots of unusual/quirky period features. All rooms are furnished to a high standard and have a good layout. Michelin star restaurant downstairs and a nice roof top bar and pool for a quick drink before a night out. Would recommend.

Stayed in room 106 overlooking the main street, loved sitting on the balcony watching the city wake up and the numerous interesting night characters that walked by. Hotel was beautiful, and beds/pillows super comfy. Had morning coffee on the roof terrace but ate out in the small cafes with the locals. Easy walking distance to the metro stop Leicu, caught metro from airport to hotel with 2 changes which took 1 hour, used bus 46 on way back which was much easier and took 30 mins. Staff will explai... Read more

The room was very nicely decorated and very clean. We had breakfast on our first morning which was very nice but could find cheaper alternatives elsewhere. The roof top bar/small pool is very nice for a drink in the day or the evening. The hotel staff were very welcoming, helpful and polite and quickly sorted any small issues that we had e.g. safe battery needed changing Location is perfect! Very short walk to La Ramblas, Indoor market, Gothic Quarter, metro connections are close and very... Read more

Found this place on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. It is a well appointed boutique hotel with a (plunge) pool and a bar on the roof. The rooms were faultless, being modern and clean. Conveniently situated just just off Las Ramblas it is near a metro station and a lot of the city's popular bars and restaurants. All the staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The cocktail bar sports an impressive fireplace structure as a reminder of the building's historic roots... Read more

A fantastic hotel which comes at a fantastic price! We stayed here for 3 nights in June and it was perfect. The hotel is located just off the Ramblas, but being far enough away so that you don't get the noise on an evening/night time. The staff were so helpful and polite - whatever you needed they would sort it out. The rooftop bar is a lovely touch being open until late so you can relax up there at an time of day. The standard of the rooms was second to none! So clean and modern without loosin... Read more

My friend and I brought our preteen granddaughters to Barcelona for a week and chose this hotel based on location and it was just perfect. The staff was very friendly and the girls enjoyed the lovely breakfast every morning but the added bonus and surprise for them was the small rooftop pool, after a day of sightseeing they always ended up there to cool off while my friend and I could just sit with some wine and keep an eye on them. The hotel has a lot of old world charm but is decorated in mo... Read more

This hotel hides on a side street but it is las ramblas. I had the terrace suite. It was very nice and roomy. There was a living room and separate bedroom. The terrace was very big. There was also Apple TV in the living room. The service was excellent. There is a rooftop pool and restaurant in the hotel.

The hotel itself is well designed and beautiful - the staff are friendly, however the location although very central, is located on a street you don't particularly want to walk down at night which is a shame. Girls followed me into the hotel when I was checking in, and tried to put their hands in my bag whilst i was standing at the reception. The gentleman checking me in shouted at them but strangely didn't tell them to leave, and they continued to stand behind me for a further 10 minutes or s... Read more

Excellent location, great room with balcony and view over rooftops and church, nice rooftop bar. Doorman was fantastic and helpful, all concierge very helpful. Just off La Rambla, couldn't have been better positioned for us for the fabulous boqueria market just steps away (is this the best fresh food market in the world?), restaurants and nightlife (placa reial) also opera house just next door and gothic quarter just on the other side of la rambla. So glad we stayed here. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Hotel Espana for three nights over a long weekend and it was beautiful. The exterior and interior of the hotel is beautiful and staff on arrival and throughout our stay were polite, friendly and helpful. The room was spacious - we had a standard double, and it looked out onto the side street. I have read a lot about noise complaints for this hotel, and agree at times it can be, however for is it didn't outweigh wanting to be so central. Very modern, clean, amazing design to the ... Stayed here for 4 nights on the recommendation of friends. Location is great, just off Las Ramblas and a metro right at the top of the road, a minutes walk away. Room was good, staff in the terrace bar a giggle but the attention to detail by some of the other staff is rubbish! When we checked in we were given the full spiel by the concierge, complimentary water and juice in the fridge everyday, nice touch, there was also milk for coffee etc...but only on that day, every other day we had to ring ... This hotel is situated in the old centre of Barcelona, in the area called Ravel, at 100 m from the Ramblas. In an old building, it has been wonderfully designed. The rooms are good, though not very large. Service at the reception excellent. Breakfast is fine. A bit disappointing is the swimming pool on the roof: too small, quite useless. De wifi in de kamers is te traag.
