Gorgeous building, clean and comfortable. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building but our room was modern and spacious. The staff were all very helpful, efficient and friendly. I would be very pleased to recommend this hotel to my friends and family. It is very centrally located, right off The Ramblas. Couldn't have asked for better.

Rooms near the street are a bit noisy. But, overall a nice place to stay. I would stay here again if I return to the area. The decor is modern and it's near the street market. A great area to base a stay.

We arrived at this hotel to a warm welcome from the staff. The hotel is fantastically located. We booked a double deluxe room and on our second day realised that the TV was broken. The concierge came up to our room and was extremely helpful but unfortunately it could not be fixed and so we were upgraded without any fuss or problem whatsoever to a Junior Suite. I would definitely 100% recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone who is lucky enough to be visiting the fantastic City of Barcelona

We stayed at this hotel for one night before taking a cruise from Barcelona. We booked it based on location and previous Tripadvisor reviews. The staff were really friendly and helpful, in particular the bellboy and the bar manager. The location was excellent, although previous reviews said they felt uncomfortable walking down the side street the hotel is on, I can honestly say I didn't. We stayed four nights. Very pleased with the location, as steps away from La Rambla, the Metro and the Gothic Quarter. The hotel was beautiful, old but with fully modern rooms and bathrooms. Great staff and for my friend and I, a real treat was getting home after a hard days sightseeing and going to the roof top bar to view photos, plan our next day and let our feet recover!

What a find this boutique hotel is. Located less than 1 minute off La Rambla is this little beauty. We were greeted at the check in with all the info we needed and then personally presented with 2 very fresh muffins and a bottle of refreshment as a welcome, nice touch indeed. Magnificent location as well. Although just off the famous La Rambla the hotel is in fact very quiet, as we are in room 409. Thoroughly modern room in a charming intimate building. Would come back again for sure.

Hotel Espana is situated on one of the small streets just off the Ramblas. The street is full of telephone stores and you can walk the back way to market full of fruit and fruit juices. There is even a little tiny grocery store just in front. The hotel looks like 4 or 5 star. Rooms are tiny, but modern and clean. They are situated around a plaza so not much noise. We checked into this hotel the day we sailed back from a Mediterranean cruise just for one night. The clerks at the desk were very nice and very accommodating. The room I stayed in was very modern and clean. There are two problems with this hotel. The first one is that once you leave the lobby area and go to your room, there is a big open atrium that the rooms encircle. Everything echos! If you close the door it echos, if you speak it echos. We stayed in room 408, which was a great room. Faced out on front of the hotel down the streets with Juliette type balcony. Room was very modern and large. The bathroom was large and while it's very modern looking, the sink is shallow so water splashed out quite a bit. Also, the partial glass door on the shower head did not seem to go to the bottom so when you showered, quite a bit of water sprays onto the floor. There is a drain in the floor and you can just use your towels as rugs so not ... Read more

We try to find the positive for a hotel we stayed in and the location of the hotel in relation to Las Rambas was good. As far as the hotel the area was a little dicey. The hotel has some beautiful archeological features and the dining room was great....but that is where it ends. The room we had was minuscule. We didn't visit the restaurant but visited both bars which were great. The rooftop terrace is the perfect place to chill out after a day sightseeing and the gins were lov... Read more

Great location for Las Ramblas. Nice hotel, very modern inside. Rooms on the small side and the bathroom is not designed very well. In my room you couldn't open the shower door fully as it banged against the wash basin. By making the rooms/bathrooms small they are compromising on the detail. It was clean and the bed comfy. We were drinking in the bar at night, about 1 am they closed and we still had drinks to finish. They made us move to the lobby and sit there to finish them. We were a group of... Read more

Nothing to fault with this hotel. Location was ideal, the room was clean and in excellent condition. The hotel pool and bar was quiet, relaxed, and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Barcelona. I had a perfect week here.

Awesome hotel, right off La Rambla and practically next to the food market. On the modern, artful side. Comfortable rooms and baths. Definitely will stay here again. Only had one problem - bar service was not prompt.

This hotel is located in the heart of La Rambla, but a having enough distance from the main street to allow you to sleep. The building itself is a masterpiece. The service is also very good. The rooms are a very small, but nicely furbished (modern style, with a focus on comfort). They do the job for a weekend break. We recommend the hotel.

My sister and I stayed here for a much needed getaway weekend. From the moment we arrived we knew we'd chosen wisely! It was a stones throw from half way down la ramblas, but far enough away to not be kept awake at night! The reception staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was gorgeous and plenty of room with lovely espa products. The rooftop terrace is just perfect, great bar and place for chilling away from the hustle and bustle of Barca. Positives: modernistic room was attractive with the best lighting in bed and bath ever seen. Gleaming and clean. Good location for exploring Ravel and Ramblas districts. Excellent buffet breakfast and items to order. Some of the staff very pleasant, some not so much. Negatives: Extremely small room for a double bed/2 people staying. Lack of chairs and no tea kettle, until I asked, was told it is only provided in Jr. suites, but then they found one for us. Pretty claustrophobic. No Jr. suites ava... Read more

If you are familiar with a hotel chain in USA that is low end and has a 6 in their name...that was Hotel Espana close to port but also high crime area. To start the staff had little if any english speaking, not a huge deal, we were in another country. But when the staff does speak some english we have found that a plus. The map that is provided by the locals is very hard to read, actually it was worthless. Street names so small not legible The room was a typical heater and keys room. But the bat... Read more

Great location - situated right on la ramlas, friendly staff and a real different/quirky hotel. They have a really cool rooftop bar with a pool. I would strongly recommend for younger couples looking for a reasonable priced hotel.

Lovely hotel situated in La Rumblas. Walk out of the hotel and you are right near shops and restaurants. Very easy to walk everywhere. The market located nearby is great for lunch. Very reasonably priced. We had no issues with the service as some other people did however the room was very small and did not have anywhere to put suitcases. And unfortunately our view was directly to the residential block which was very close. You had to close the curtains at all time. The breakfast was great and ve... Read more

Tis hotel is everything the reviewers have posted -the ones that liked it that is. The location could not be better and the rooms and service was great. The proximity to La Ramblas is a big plus - bringing you to a myriad of street vendors, outdoor restaurants, and classic people watching.

This hotel is situated in a small side street off of Las Ramblas, perfect for exploring Barcelona. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are modern, spacious and clean with air conditioning. The breakfast is good quality and plenty of variety, with eggs cooked freshly if required. Also gluten free available, which was requested for our party. I would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel right off La Ramblas. Quiet and clean and nice size modern room. Excellent, friendly staff helped direct us to fun excursions around the city. Close to the Barcelona Cathedral - a bargain at only 7 euros. Go on the roof of the cathedral for views of the city.

Location is good quite but not so secure at night. My initial room had only a window on an interior patio, very dark. New room on street was better but water noises from pipes were very annoying. Internet access is very very slow. Breakfast and room services are good and staff very friendly.

We found this hotel on the BA website and chose it as a good balance between cost and quality, and the location was perfect for our plans. On arrival, very late in the evening, we were told we didn't have a room due to a problem with the water supply. Honestly, I suspect it was overbooked.... However, they taxi'd us to the sister hotel around ten minutes cab away and treated us fairly, but it was disappointing. We returned the next day and were let into a lovely room on the fourth floor which... Read more

We decided to change hotels for our return back based on a review in the National post. It is well located but a huge disappointment - especially after Le Serras where we last stayed. Our room had not been cleaned adequately ; the staff which was often inadequate were not pleasant - everything seemed to be a hassle for them. I would not recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for three nights in July in a deluxe room. It was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. However, we did get a lot of noise until late at night and then we were woken early in the morning with deliveries on the street outside. In the bathroom the shower door opened onto the sink so you had to be small to squeeze through the gap! Lovely toiletries though which were replenished daily. The tea/coffee wasn't replenished with the same frequency however. It's a lovely old building... Read more

The hotel is beautiful, and the restaurant is fantastic -- it is the best reason to stay there. (Dinner there is amazing!) My room was clean and I was comfortable there with one exception: no sunlight. In such a sunny city, this was a disappointment. My window looked out on to other windows of the hotel, so I couldn't even keep the curtain open to let in the small amount of sunlight that could have come in. A great hotel in a super location off the Ramblas. The rooms are very good although the tv has a very poor station choice with no entertainment channels in English. Stayed here for 3 days to celebrate a birthday, the location is awesome - and the staff were so kind and helpful. The rooms are a bit small, but clean and nicely designed. But the mattresses in the rooms were terrible - nether of us got more than a couple of hours sleep on any night - after the second night they offered to change the room, which we did, after which they explained that all rooms had the same mattresses (which defeated the benefit and just gave us the hassle of moving) I feel bad...
