When I go stay in a city, I want to be in, or very near the action and this place is in the middle of both The Born & Barceloneta, but just outside both...& ear plugs would ordinarily be required. However this time, I forgot mine and still slept soundly right above the bus stop! Modern fixtures in an ancient hotel with location x3 is always for me. A hotel in a perfect loction between the Marina and the lovely alleys of the Gothic Quarter. Just across the road from the Barceloneta Metro stop. From the hotel you can walk to the Marina, Beach or La Rambla The Hotel is smart and clean and the only small criticism is there was no tea/coffee making facilites in the room Our room overlooked the main street at the front of the hotel. Whilst there was some traffic noise during the day and early evening, at night it was very quiet.

I must say that this hotel is in a perfect location,in a walking distance(5-10min)from city beach Barceloneta and La Rambla.Underground/bus station is in front of hotel,so it is easy to get everywhere in the city. You can find many bars, restaurans and shops nearby. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, they always trying to get the best answer for you.We came really late and were given room with twin beds(we asked for double bed) they changed it the next day without any problems. Two things stand out: the location, central and adjacent to the harbourfront, and the building, a partial conversion from and older business building. My experience of staff in Spain has been very good in all respects and this hotel is no different. Internally, it is comfortable with lift access to all levels. My room was on the small side for a double, but as I was on my own it wasn't an issue. Al the usual facilities were there. A good breakfastroom is on offer, and the food was good.

We stayed at the del mar for 3 nights, enjoyed our stay, friendly staff, we wanted to use the safe but the staff couldn't find the key so we were moved to another room, just as nice and still an outside room with balcony and view. Loved the location, perfect for us.

Stayed at the Hotel Del Mar for 3 days in May. What a great hotel. Fab location and real value for money. Close to the Marina, beaches, El Born area and the Gothic old Town. Close to lots of amenities and great travel links on the doorstep. The room and bathroom was a great size and exceptionally clean. Would not hesitate to recommend and would definitely book this hotel on my return to an excellent City.

We stayed here 5 nights in may. Really excellent location, couldn't be better; 10min walk to the beach, harbour, Ramblas, Born, Gothic, Barceloneta (my favourite!) areas... Plenty of good restaurants, Metro, bus, trainstation and bikerental (Bornbike) just around the corner...Clean, quiet, comfortable rooms looking out on small courtyard with elevator; not super luxurious, but very very decent. Civilized guests...And nice staff, checking in and out went very smoothly; free wifi in hotelroom, ren... Read more

The location is very good. Close to harbour and Old town. My room was ok, with view to the street. Not satisfied about: - no space in the bathroom for my own toiletteries. Even the ones provided by the hotel (rather simple ones) were placed on the flush of the toilet due to limited space. - guests are adviced to store their valuables in the room safe, which you can get from the reception desk. When I went for it, I was told that the guests have to pay 2 Euros per day for it. After having paid 10... Read more

The location, rooms, interior and breakfast in the hotel were good. The double room was spacious. Staff were friendly and always willing to help. Located in an ideal location with shops and restaurants close by. Located just off the city bus route which was ideal for us.

As other reviews state, the location is awesome. Close to metro station, beach, the old city, lots of restaurants. But I'm not satisfied with 3 things. 1. Shower booth doesn't have a door. So when you take a shower the floor gets super wet. Not comfortable. 2. Toilet does not flush well. I mean you think this is a small thing to mind? But it's annoying to try holding down the flush botton for like forever every time I use the bathroom. Seriously, it's annoying. 3. Disliked breakfast. ?... Read more

Views are rubbish, the food is okay and the staff are very rude and the hotel is mainly for German, French or Spanish but on the good hand it was right near the main bars and not very far from shops and the beach I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody at all. If you were all inclusive the only thing you could drink all inclusive when you went for dinner and tea all you could drink is wine or water and if you were in the cue at the bar all the other people would get served first and then the ... The hotel, as other reviews show, has the perfect location if you are wanting to mix the beach life of Barcelona with the main attractions. Situated just a 2 minute walk from the metro station (Barceloneta), you can literally travel anywhere in the city with the metro providing 2 day passes which includes unlimited travel. For people looking to relax on the beach, the nearest is just a 15 minute walk away with bars and shops on the way as well as turning into a clubbing area at night. We did n... Read more

The rooms clean, not enough towels. No tea/coffee or water supplied. The bed was like sleeping on a hospital bed, plastic and very uncomfortable. I ended up placing the spare blanket under the bottom sheet hoping this would stop the noise every time I moved. Not happy. The bathroom didn't allow room for your toiletries. On the other hand, breakfast was nice, don't expect a full American it isn't there but plenty to choose from, help yourself to tea, coffee, juice from the machines,. if wanting... Read more

I agree with all the other reviews that the hotel's location is very good, near the beach, restaurants, la rambla and it's very easy to reach from the airport. The hotel itself is nice and the rooms are clean, decorated in blue, have everything you need and have big spacious bathrooms! I would definitely stay again.

From Check-in to departure, the staff were polite and friendly. The rooms were an acceptable size and clean. We didn't have any outside view as such, but the rooms were quiet and away from street noise. The food was selection was limited and the cooked items could have been a bit warmer. There were only a couple of small things which we found irritating. Storage space was the first. Only some shelf space, no drawer space. Not enough for two people. Second, the charge for the safe. This is the 2nd year in a row my husband & I have stayed at Del Mar Hotel in Barcelona. It is only 3 star, but we thought the location is good. What a mistake we made in coming here again. Firstly when we arrived we were given a tiny room on the 1st floor with no verandah when we specifically requested 5 months earlier to have the top floor & a verandah. Awful. Paid in full in advance for a 4 night stay and, for the first time in my years of travelling, walked out after the first night. I booked to recover after a major operation and being a keen photograpber requested a room overlooking the marina. As you will see from the attatched photos the room barely matches the advertised photos and as for the view...... It was worth losing the money by walking out and finding a better hotel.

We visited this 3 star hotel for the second time. As mentioned before, it is in such an ideal location, in a reasonable peaceful location somewhat away from the madness of the City centre. So the hotel is amazing, however the waitress wouldn't let me take a glass of water out of the restaurant and back to my room. I found this very odd. Another problem was that there were roadworks outside which meant I couldn't sleep for 3 of the 5 days we stayed. Other than that it was fab. Spotless.

The location is quite good, within walking distance of the barcelona center and ports. The hotel was better than i expected, but my expectations were admittedly low, which is the norm for many 3 star barcelona hotels. The room was suggested to me by the front desk as "quiet" and it actually was impressively quiet at night, with the cost of having no balcony and no view. It was reasonably well furnished but the equipment had started to show its age. The breakfast was good, but not free (11 euros)... Read more

Stayed at Del Mar for a couple of nights after a cruise and absolutely loved it. Location is central to the port areas. as well as the Gothic quarter. Plenty of eateries around the area and most of the significant sites were within 40 mins walking. The hotel is one of the quietest I've ever stayed in when choosing to be in a city's core.
