My first stay in La Casa Seoul was fron November 17-21, 2015 with my wife. I knew, upon booking this property, that I wasn't going to be expecting a 5 star experience but, because of reviews from TA as well as information posted on their website, I was quite excited about the hotel's charm located in Seoul's Garosu district. I wasn't mistaken. The hotel was in a perfect location in Garosugil. Lobby was very well designed. The staff were very welcoming. Rooms were likewise well designed with a good amount of space for two people in the room.
Everything seemed perfect until you start to inspect the rooms carefully after settling down. We noticed that the blinds were very dusty. The carpets didn't seem like they were vacuumed well as you could see specks of dirt which were all quite visible in the rooms that sported dark blue carpets. The TV remote controls didn't look very clean either. Surprisingly, these were all things we could live with as they were all very small details in what appeared to be a more or less good room product. To compensate, all we had to do was Lysol the whole room and decided that for the duration of our stay, we weren't going to let housekeeping in so we could keep our room sanitized.
One of the things that really irritated me though was when I decided to use the treadmill in their fitness room, I noticed that there was a used band-aid strip stuck to the digital panels of the treadmills. It was pretty disgusting but decided that this could be something that housekeeping may have overlooked and decided to once again let it slide. I used the gym twice during my stay and the band aid was unfortunately never removed. I never bothered letting the hotel know and at the end of our trip, I was still inclined to give this property a 4 star rating on TA and thought that I would still come back next time I visit Seoul.
Quite surprisingly, my next visit to Seoul couldn't come any sooner. I was back from
December 30, 2015 - January 3, 2016, this time with my whole family. I was still very excited to recommend this hotel. And yet again, our/their first impressions didn't disappoint. But like our last stay, upon careful inspection of the rooms, the housekeeping department continued to fail us. In my sister's room for example, they were surprised to find a used sock under the chair. In one of our other rooms, there appeared to be a clump of dust stuck under the carpet edges. And to my shock, upon using the gym during this trip, the band aid that was stuck in the treadmill during my stay last November 17 was still stuck in the same place a month after. Now that is really disappointing!!! We all couldn't resist and finally had to tell the front desk manager of our comments. At this point, we were still willing to let things slide (imagine how patient we are) and continued to be happy with the hotel. But when after giving them feedback and reported the band-aid, we still didn't see any improvement including the band-aid still being stuck, that really irritated me. I had to ask the front desk office to come with me to the gym so I could show him myself.
It's quite sad. They had the opportunity to make it right with us by simply just listening and rectifying our complaints and yet they never did. Interestingly enough, I continue to love this hotel and their product. It continues to make me wonder though why they can't improve on such a simple detail that could make every stay perfect. This could have easily been a 5 star rated stay, too bad I have to keep it at 2. I think that if there was a better option in Garosugil however, I wouldn't think twice in trying that hotel instead. Meanwhile, this is the only option we have so far.
