Just a quick one night stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable but the bathroom is starting to show it's age a bit. Breakfast had a great selection but the scrambled eggs had a very strange taste. Beautiful ocean view from our room!

Convenient location, fast and friendly service, and good value for money. Ideal for a bed and breakfast option. No room service, but rather a call and collect option. Only a shower (no bath). Only a hanging "place" for clothes (no cupboards). Worth it!

We were greeted by friendly, professional staff. The service delivery was efficient and excellent. The location and the view from our room a bonus. Highly recommended. Breakfast was tops. Variety of beverages. Overall customer satisfaction guaranteed. I have been there 3 times in the last 2 years and I will keep going. The room are clean, the linen fresh and clean, the tidiness of the rooms excellent. Modern bathroom. An excellent stay.

My wife and I were coming off a 17.5 hour flight from the states into Johannesburg and then a hop flight into Durban and needed a place to crash before continuing deeper into South Africa. Holiday Inn Express Durban was a very easy 15 minute drive from King Shaka Airport in a safe section of town. The hotel and rooms must have been recently renovated as everything was updated and clean. Staff was friendly and room was ready for us. We missed the breakfast in the morning because the bed was ju... Read more

this is a standard hotel chain - nothing really to mention there except it is an expensive stay. every other place we stayed at in Africa had free wifi except this place which was the most expensive but not the nicest - just somewhere to stay between destinations. we even had free wifi in the middle of the seregeti and that would have cost them more. stop insulting your guests holiday inn and provide free wifi you are insulting and greedy

Had a last minute challenge so needed to find a place fast and booked here on the same day. I've actually stayed here a couple of years ago which was ok. + Very nice staff, well trained, pleasant room - Maintenance might be an issue- had to hold shower rose (rose didn't fit into the holding bracket), basin plug not working. Overall: ok place But not for me - 1 luxury that really helps me in a hectic day is a hotel that will iron tomorrow's clothes (they only give you the iron & board)

I stayed five nights at this hotel in May. It was pleasing to see how much attention is paid to ensuring guests are comfortable during their stay. Service was personalised; every request was attended to gladly. I felt very welcome and would be happy to return. The restaurant attached to the hotel is good, but service is variable there. I was lucky to be served three out of my five nights by Bheki, who was exceptional. On the other nights, when Bheki wasn't there, unfortunately the service was no... Read more

It is definitely hard to please everyone, but the small things and the application of a little foresight goes a long way. I asked repeatedly weeks before to accommodate an early check in. Reasons was that my family and I were travelling to a wedding. We needed a place to shower and change after a long drive. No emails were responded to. I contacted head office who put me in touch with Pam Munsamy who mentioned she would let me know the status beforehand. She did not. We made alternate plans and ... Read more

We initially had a 2 night stay booked at this facility. en route we encountered a problem, I called and spoke to the manager Terrence, he was very helpful and managed to change our booking to 1 night. the room was decent and spacious. good view of the Sea. The entrance was a bot confusing , and we ended up walking in circles with our bags before finding the door. a down point was the morning breakfast, as we were vegetarian, there was practically only toast and muffins for us to eat, so left th... Requests are met with smiles and efficiency... Arguably better than some 4 stars establishments on the marine parade in durban. Well done!

The Holiday inn express is absolutely great accommodation at great prices. The rooms are well modern ,furnished and designed. Room service is efficient and rooms are cleaned well. The hotel staff are friendly and willing to assist. The basement parking is secure however a bit of a distance to your room . The buffet breakfast leaves one spoilt for choice. This is really the only hotel you need to book.

The stay was lovely, clean rooms, hospitable staff, great art works on the walls. Only challenge with internet (not included in the hotel costs). Stayed there 2 nights this week and is convenient as its a 2 minute walk from Gateway. The rooms are spacious and comfortable beds. A nice touch is the retractable desk lamp, and desk for working. On arrival we found the receptionist rather confrontational and grumpy. Not what one expected. The hotel is a 'cut corners' offering - quick turn around, but adequate. Breakfast offered was average with reasonable food and beverages - not memorable in any way. After check out - we discovered something was left behind and requested assistance to collect it - from the same receptionist - who said No! Luckily the manager was summonsed and help was given. Revisit? No thanks!

Very good hotel and friendly staff and good accomodation. But like every where in south africa the free wifi is a joke. They only give you a low speed connection for 100 mb limit per day. The location is near the place it is full of restaurant . You may have a good view of ocean. But hotel is 20 minutes far from the beach.

Nothing special, but good on all fronts. Nice room, nice views, good breakfast and helpful staff. Close to the beach and close to the city centre and the airport. There is also parking available (plenty) and although it wasn't expensive, it would have been better if it was told beforehand (upon entering the parking or during check in) that the parking wasn't complimentary.

It's all as it should be but nothing more. The views are amazing; the rooms are okay. The reception staff could work on their hospitality. The 100mb of 'free' internet don't always seem to be 100mb. Breakfast is the exact same affair every day. And why a South African hotel would offer rooibos tea from a Sri Lankan company is beyond me.
