In my experience, the international locations of "middle of the road" US chains like the holiday inn tend to be a bigger deal than their domestic counterparts. This Holiday Inn didn't buck the trend - it was definitely a luxury-style hotel made cheaper due to the US/ruble exchange rate. The rooms were well put together in a Western style and were generally clean - however, they were already showing signs of age, which may not be such a good thing for a relatively young hotel. The location was a... Read more

The location is fine: from one side, direct way to the airport, from another - really close to the center of the city. Good views if you take the room on a high floor. On a zero floor is situated "Korova-Bar", which is a nice place to have a dinner (in a neighborhood is not s lot of opportunities). At the same time, the service should be better for the hotel of such level.

The room has everything essential similarly to a traditional holiday inn. Breakfast buffet was very good with nice selection of food and drinks. Service was good, cleaning staff was very friendly. Only inconviniece was a really long distance between elevators and room, it was quite a walk. I suggest asking for a room close to the elevators. The room was cleaned ok although carpet in the room and walkways looked as it was quite worn-out. I asked for slippers but was told that no slippers or robe ... Read more

I stayed there with my husband who was on a business trip. We spent one night. Althouht it was obviuos that hotel had a good location: 5 mins to the undeground station. Me personally adore food in Holiday Inn chain - they are great. You can find evething you want: cereal, eggs, becon, juices, etc. Maybe fruits were not widely presented (only apples and bananas), but this is ok for the midseason and for Russia:-) The room had a lot of space. I would like to thank the stuff a lot. All of guys and ... Read more

Stayed here on a Business trip for 3 nights, overall I have to agree it is a good location, very decent room, very good breakfast, but a few details should be improved (e.g., when i opened the door the very first day, a lightweight metal plate fell off from the ceiling, there was a damaged part in the bathroom that would be probably easy to fix etc), but on the other hand, general cleanliness was OK. Another problem was the second day, when three out of six elevators were not working, so it was ... Read more

The hotel is large and caters to many tour groups. Rooms are spacious and you have options of hard or soft pillows. The large super market that is adjacent to the hotel offers a lot of variety for those who need to top up food, water etc. Breakfast in the large cavernous hall can be a crowded especially in the mornings between 8-9am. Selection is good and the service reasonably quick. The free wifi signal in the room was sparse, but there was probably a lot of people using it too.

Overall a fairly good place. All the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful apart from one grumpy one on the check-in desk (not the best welcome, but all good after that). My standard room was comfortable and clean and fairly large. Bath had no shower curtain - not sure if that's intentional, so bathroom floor got quite wet in the morning! Free WiFi in the room was good and reasonably responsive (some buffering on video, good for everything else). Spent an evening propping up the bar ... Read more

It was strange to see World known mark at this installation. You may call it huge hostel, big business hall but not Holiday Inn in usual meaning. No refrigerators in the rooms doesn't matter what is it (even in luxury), so you can not chill your drink. No minibars, no possibility to open the window. At the bar downstairs you can find plenty electric plugs, but no chair to sit and relax. If you order something at Korovabar (2nd floor) - don't put the invoice onto your room number - they will char... Read more

Very large Hotel and very crowded with many tour groups. No Fridge or minibar in room. WIFI in room was hit and miss, last day could not log on at all. This feels like a hostel and probably one of the poorest Holiday Inn Hotels that I have been to. Very isolated and quite a bit away from Tourist area. Only a Pizza Joint next door and no other reasonable restaurants within walking distance. There is a large supermarket next door.

Clean and comfortable rooms and a metro station nearby, four stops from Nevsky Prospect: this is all the good I can say about this place. The buffet menu had very little variety and never changed from day to day, and desserts consisted almost exclusively of canned fruit. On June 21st there was a 25-minute wait in line for breakfast that wrecked havoc with our schedule for the whole day.

Very poor service in all areas. Breakfast sucks (tasteless with no local products and always the same), no fridge in the rooms, no swimming pool, no sauna or jaccuzzi, management does not listen to customers complaints and recommendation (soviet style attitude). It is a pity because the hotel looks new, is quite spacious and in a convenient location (near the metro line). It is a very bad copy of a multinational hotel chain and looks like its mentality is still at the Stalin's time.

Although modern, we had a room view of a junk yard, the carpet was grimy, there were dust balls in the room, breakfasts (and one dinner) were hostel or cafeteria-like and there were very little choice. The hotel was some way out of the centre of town. Room size was OK and there were lots of power points; but with 2 single doonas for a double bed, soap that would not lather, small towels, no free water etc ,the room was only fair. The most disappointing hotel we have stayed at for a very long t... Read more

The front desk was terribly awful and very very irresponsible. They destroyed my journey. I ordered a taxi in the reception to take me to the train the previous night, but the taxi didn't arrive the next morning. I'd been waiting for 1 hour and there was NO taxi for me. The front desk told me that the receptionist who was responsible for the order might forget to order the taxi. I missed my train to Moscow and I had to pay a lot of money to buy a new train ticket. Having gone with a group, I assumed I'd be in fairly modest accommodations. But this hotel was below an acceptable minimal level. The hallways had a moldy, musty smell and the food was terrible. While the rooms were spacious, they were not as clean as they should have been. I would advise anyone and everyone to stay away!

My group arrived late on a rainy night, well after midnight. The wind was howling outside, and the first thing I noticed when I finally got to my room was the noise. That is, the noise of the howling wind. It was as though the windows aren't airtight, so with the strong winds, I could constantly hear the howling through the slits of the windows. It was quite annoying. But that aside, the room is very comfortable and clean, and I loved that the bathroom tiles are heated. No more cold feet in the... Read more

The hotel is nicely located next to a metro station, only 4 stops from city center. Although very crowded with groups and tourists, somehow they manage to be efficient at the same time. Checkin, checkout, meal allocations work fine. Half board option was disappointing due to food quality, but breakfast was nice.

Brand new, modern, renovated and user friendly hotel. Not exactly centrally located but has good views from the higher floors. Has every facility a modern hotel needs and delivers. The majority of European languages spoken. Staff supers friendly and helpful. A major bonus is a supermarket located next door for all those presents you forgot to buy. Rooms are large, clean and modern. Saint Petersburg is amazing so enjoy.

After a 2-week stay traveling through Russia, the Holiday Inn in St. Petersburg was the most disappointing. The location is okay to hop on the underground train to get into town, but this hotel I would not recommend unless you got a super cheap deal. The rooms were fine and clean; but the staff was NOT friendly or helpful at all and DON'T bother going to the buffet - even for free I would pass on it. It would be a really nice property if they would care to fix their customer service!

The rooms are huge and cozy, with many closets. It is very disappointing that after opening all of the closets, you cannot find the refrigerator. I think it is really an essential item in a room. The location is good. and it does not take more than two minutes to reach a metro station. Then with 4 stations, one could reach Nevsky street. Relatively used to stay in Holiday Inn hotels for business trips, this one is well within Holiday Inn standards in terms of welcome and comfort. It is more modern than throne in Moscow (Lesnaya). The hotel size is pretty big, and has several restaurants inside, which is convenient as the hotel is not located in the "active parts" of the city (but easily reachable by metro).
