Not expensive and close to VDNH subway, which will take you to the Red Square in aprox 25 minutes. It is a monster building, and if you get a room overlooking VDNH and the Space Museum, it is much better. It STILL is in the Soviet Union decoration wise, and my room was very early 1970s. The good thing is it has everything inside, including a post office so I guess It was built for poeple attending events at VDNH. If you are not that picky, you can save a lot by staying here. Moscow is a very beautiful city and there is lot to see BUT as a tourist it is vital to stay at a place where it is safe and secure. That is tough as some of the hotels are very pricey BUT hotel Cosmos is situated in a great location and for a great price. You can get a room here in a high floor with an excellent view of the city for less than $70 a night which is a great deal. You can walk to the Red Square, Kremlin, Duma, Arbat street and more... When to check in there were 2 people working, when to check out there were 3 females working one was older, and two younger, two younger were chitchatting the whole time non-stop and the line was about 5 people, they didn't help at all, when I asked if they can take the next person they were rude and said no. I first stayed at the Hotel Cosmos in 2008 , when I met my wife Iren. We decided to return in March once again. By far the Hotel exceeded our expectations. Apart from many unhappy comments on sites. The hotel was modern, the restaurants were excellent, view from room breathtaking and there are also great restaurants and the Cosmonaut Museum a block away that holds Michael Collins flight suit from the 1st lunar landing which amazed me. A must see museum. Breakfasts at the Kalinka far surpass most... Read more

Having read the reviews on TA I was expecting the worse. But actually this is OK as a basic 3 star hotel. It has (almost) all the basics: the rooms are a decent size, there is a perfectly serviceable bathroom with plenty of hot water, and the sheets are clean. A few things are missing: hairdryer only available on request for example. But then there are nice surprises: good free wifi throughout the hotel for instance. The decor and furniture is very old of course but it is now so old that it won'... Read more

The sheer size of the Cosmos is a little intimidating when you first see it, but it turned out to be a very friendly place to stay. Besides, it fits right in because in Moscow, everything is big. I had arrived hours earlier than 2 PM check-in, and was going to ask if I could store my bag somewhere. The desk person changed my room from a double bed to two single beds because one was ready at that early hour. Very accommodating. The room itself was fine. Had a great view from the 22nd floor.... The hotel was very good during the Former Soviet Union. Now is became a very average hotel with average service and room facilities. The hairdryer was not working and you need to ask staff to bring another one. The bed linen was clean but very worn out . The staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good.

I am writing this on my last evening in the Cosmos Hotel in Moscow. I really don't know where to begin to list the appalling experience it has been to stay here. When we first arrived we were shown to a room straight out of an English boarding house from the 1950s with a television to match. The room was smelly and dirty and after many phone calls carried out with various people with very poor English we finally were dealt with by Daria, one of the Managers, who not only had good English but ... I stayed here for 3 nights and was impressed by the size of the hotel. The moment you enter the rooms you are appalled by the state they are in, the rooms need a serious makeover. The view is excellent though , you can see the Aerospace musueum and the big park behind it. Breakfast is ok, the security keeps checking your room number coupon every time you are going to the lift which is irritating. Also, view from the rooms is good, especially if your room is located n the western side! Cleanliness of the rooms and f the hotel in general was good! From the outside the hotel looks great. Lobby and reception are also OK. Rooms don't meet today's standards. There is a small refrigerator in the room, but no kettle. We had old (not LCD) TV set in our rooms (in total we have been in 4 different rooms in this hotel during our trip). I believe mattresses are also very old. Friday night in Moscow directly after a revolution puts a whole new level of adrenaline into the weekly episode of SpyGame. Me and my son Luke travelled from England by car to the hotel, the hotel is large, you can walk around the top floor you get a good view of Moscow especially at night. I've been to this hotel before, and they deserved my good review, but really, they could improve themselves so much more if they just stop making people wait so long to see the front desk personnel. This is especially true when checking in. Their check-in procedures just take way too long. They should also be more attuned to when several people are waiting in line so that they can get more staff out there and expedite the process.
