I stayed several times in this hotel, which is well located and high level. I got very disappointed last time. I booked a room three weeks before and I got surprised when I was said by the reception that they have made over booking and that they have found another place for me. It was unpleasant to be obliged to take a taxi late in the evening and the alternative hotel was much worse place. The Grand Hotel Continental has definitively lost a loyal customer.

We stayed there on the last weekend of May. The staff is very pleasant and nice. The rooms are bigger than expected. The breakfast was very tasty and had many choices to choose from. On the first night there were some troubles with the WIFI, but they were fixed the next morning. The location is great and is within walking distance to the old town, Lipscani, Caru Cu Bere and more.

Classic elegant hotel with outstanding renovation. Very good staff and service. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world and this one qualifies for the rating. No major negatives. It is worth booking a suite as the extra cost is not great and they are lovely.

Amazing place to stay. Mostly positive notes, only let down is the shower in the room, you have a great jet shower that you just can't use as the glass panel is only 50 cm long. The water just goes everywhere. Why have it if you can't use it? Also for a 5 *** hotel you would expect to have toilet paper that doesn't hurt your private parts. Don't be cheap guys. Will however go back for sure ū???

We checked in on Saturday and noticed (and then heard) the Christening Party which was being held in the hotel. We were allocated a room directly above the Party room, but we didn't mind at this point as the room looked wonderful during the daytime. However, when we returned from dinner that night at 10.30 this party was still going on and apparently a bride had also appeared. We asked reception how late this party might go on and were advised quite late. We then complained about this as I h... Read more

Hotel Continental is located at walking distance from the main tourist attractions of the capital. Few minutes away from the old royal palace, actually the Fine Arts Museum, and walking distance from the Circulo Militare and Cismigiu Park. The hotel is an historical, classical building: rooms are ample, and, even if facing the main street, silent; in the lobby and the bar some old furniture reminds the tourists about the beauty of the Belle √?poque. The reception staff is professional, but not s... Read more

We stayed at this hotel after a two week Danube river cruise. While the room was very elegant, the customer service was terrible. We asked to exchange euros to Romanian lei and they could not do this, nor could they make change once we exchanged to their currency. We dined at the hotel for dinner that evening and it took 2 hours to get our entrees despite there only being one other table in the restaurant. There were 3 couples at dinner and the waiter could not separate our checks. One coup... Read more

I stayed here while workign in Bucharest for a week and what a cool place of old fashioned service it is. Great check in - very formal. Nice room - long time since a single room has a single bed in it! but comfy. No bath which is a shame, and an odd shower that flooded tha bathroom floor most mornings. This hotel is right in the center of Bucharest! All important attractions are in walk-able distance. Our room was super nice, just like in the photos, with a lovely retro design; very clean. Comfortable bed, had a great sleep. Quite. The bathroom has a design of its own (modern), very interesting, although the sink is kind of weird and not efficient in holding in the water. It wasn't as big as we had imagined, but we thoroughly enjoyed our three nights here. The decor is superb and the fittings and furniture are classy and in keeping with the baroque (I think) atmosphere throughout the hotel. Breakfast was great and service was polite and personal. You could not get more central than the hotel's location. Harking back to the 19th century Bucharest where everything had to resemble Paris, the hotel is furnished in Third Empire style, with real furniture gems. The bathrooms are modern, though, and the service is exquisite; this must be one of the only hotels in Romania where people manning the reception desk and the concierge have a thorough understanding of what proper service means. Excellent facilities, and thoroughly recommended.

In a historic building and with opulent furnishings, it is an excellent hotel. The staff is hard-working and helpful. From what I gather, it is one of the best bets if not the best in Bucharest. The only downside was the prostitution surrounding it, but I have a feeling that may be the case in most other downtown hotels catering to business travellers.

This kind of design only works in a place that's been around since the early 1800s. The rooms are nicely appointed although the flat screen sticks out like a sore thumb. Also the white fluorescent light in the toilet kills the mood. Location wise it is very convenient to just walk to the cafes in the old city which are packed even on weekday nites. Service is prompt. If you walk down Calea Victoriei, this building stands out as beautiful old-style architecture. Inside is period glamour - gold, glass, leather, marble, chandeliers. I stayed in a junior suite which was an entry/lounge room, bedroom and bathroom. The interior design details were classic but I would not say the room was particularly comfortable. I spent two nights at the Grand Hotel Continental. It was a truly grand experience. From the kind staff member who helped me park my car, the welcoming front desk staff members, the knowledgeable concierge, the well-appointed and clean room and the delicious breakfast -- everything was excellent! The location was perfect -- minutes from the Old Town area. I highly recommend the hotel!

It'a a vintage hotel with modern facilities, frondesk staff is very professional and nice. Better cleaning would be welcomed ( even under beds- I had to pick up some small stuff ); Interesting neighborhood , good restaurant. Wifi had some problems at first floor.

Tried to rebook and after speaking to 6 members of staff for a week, eventually received an offer double than Booking.com. Customer service and a professional approach is not a priority here. Will never go back.

Was just there for a night, but the staff was very friendly and helped us plot out our sightseeing. Tried to get in to the spa, but unfortunately did not have any appointments (but when we went to go visit it, no one was there?) Room was cozy -- great shower head, but hate that they don't have curtains as water goes everywhere! Sat in the lounge area for a few drinks -- very hip and modern feel. Great location for walking to the sites, we did almost all of it in 1.5-2 hours.
