I visited this week and loved the entire place. I will be back. The place will take you back in time. Gorgeous and great for couples. Roof top pool, restaurant, central location, all excellent. My wife and I went to their beautiful bar for a drink and met Luis Flores, the best bartender I have ever met. He filled us in on all the happening spots, drew a map for us and made reservations for us at the best restaurant in Old San Juan, Marmalade.(Another review). It's guys like Luis that make your ex... The El Convento is an amazingly beautiful hotel. The interior courtyard was great. We ate lunch at the restaurant on the ground level and enjoyed several drinks from the 2nd floor bar. Always received great service from both. There were also several lovely lounges and great places to sit and enjoy the aesthetics of the hotel. The location was great if you plan on spending most of your time in old San Juan. We only stayed two nights so we didn't use many of the amenities but everyone was extremel... Read more

The bar is inside the little courtyard in the El Convento. We were not staying at the hotel, but they treated us very well. The bartender, Luis Flores, was a great host and very knowledgeable about Old San Juan and the hotel as well. We got great recommendations from him. There were also excellent pina coladas and it was a great environment!

This is a locally owned hotel that used to be a convent. The history behind it is great. The hotel staff and restaurant staff are welcoming, friendly, and very accommodating. Our room was comfortable and quiet. Lunch at Patio del Nispero in the hotel was very good, and the patio environment is relaxing. The hotel also has complimentary water, tea, and fruit available for its guests, a welcome respite after a long day in the sun. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful historic hotel for a week. Just got back to New Jersey yesterday :-( I remember the first time we were walking to our room located in the 4th floor. I was already so fascinated by its historic beauty. What a lovely, warm, and inviting ambience. The location of the room was perfect. Away from the bar and not too close to the rooftop pool and jacuzzi. (I would recommend choosing a room in the 4th floor, if possible!). The room that we had was very spaci... Read more

The Hotel El Convento was a beautiful find by my family during a recent island-wide blackout. We needed four rooms, and had eight adults and six children. The hotel was available last-minute during the emergency and it was a truly lucky find. The 3rd floor patio with coffee/tea and fruit was a great meeting place and breakfast spot. Recently stayed here with a college group of 18 architecture students for an academic trip. I was assigned room 201 and I absolutely loved the view and the quality of space in that room, plus it was just a minute away from the terrace and the pool. Breakfast was good, server Mateo was definitely the most friendly and serviceable. Housekeeping work is marvelous! Always water bottles in the fridge and chocolates every night! I This is A MUST in Old San Juan!

My girlfriend surprised me with a trip to PR for my birthday. I was thrilled that we were staying here at this beautiful, romantic hotel right in the heard of Old San Juan. You can't beat the views, the service and the free wine and cheese every night.

Knowing of the excellent reputation of Hotel El Convento, we were lucky to obtain booking. Our next 3 days were spent as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. The entire staff -main desk, porters, restaurant and room service et... Read more
