I've seen a lot of bad reviews on this place, but that was truly not our experience. We were in town for a cruise and wanted to be close to the cruise port. First off, the Royal Caribbean terminal that we left from was on the other side of the bay, so be sure that if you are in town for a cruise that you confirm your port. Otherwise, this hotel was in a perfect location. It was in the heart of Old San Juan and walking distance to pretty much everything that you need. The price was super re... Read more

I love the location because it's close to the docks. It's nice to see all the tourists coming and going. There is nothing like seeing a cruise ship parked right in front of your hotel. Pretty cool. My room was clean and spacious and the bed was very comfy; felt nice at the end of a busy day. It was a very pleasant stay, thanks to all the staff. They really are genuinely nice. Puertoricans and Dominicans are known for their hospitality. Thank you, again. Rebecca

This hotel the the perfect place to start from. It's central location makes it walking distance from all the amazing sites and things to do. We flew into the San Juan airport one day ahead of our cruise departure and stayed at the Sheraton Old town. Check in went smoothly and our room was spacious and clean. We took the free trolley within walking distance of the hotel for a tour of Old San Juan. You can get on and off the trolley which takes you thru the town. We stayed one night in this hotel in 2014 because we were leaving on a cruise. The staff was extremely accommodating when we arrived and put us in a front, corner room overlooking the harbor. The shuttered windows add a really nice touch. We have already made a reservation to stay in October this year and are looking forward to our visit.

Anything we asked them they didn't know. We actually got better information from the employees at CVS down the street. I see the name has now changed and they dropped the "casino" off of it when w... Yes, expect average for a Latin country and you will not be angry at the lack of many things that are not at even a Sheraton level. I am SPG Platinum and the only thing this property has going for it is its location at the end of old town. Otherwise, from our check in, through our breakfasts the level of service at this hotel is almost non-existent. Unfriendly and unresponsive, especially to SPG members, would sum up our experience, with one notable exception: A taxi strike was called the da... Read more

I decided to stay here for one night prior to departing for another island. Sheratons are usually solid, basic hotels (to me). This was the case with this one. I was given a large corner room that had 3 Juliette balconies, with one that faced the pier where Carnival Cruise lines ports. It was fun to be able to see the ship up close when I woke up in the morning. The location is perfect for anyone starting a cruise from the Old San Juan port. After reading so many consecutive negative reviews I was a little reluctant to staying at this hotel, but decided to go ahead anyway. To my surprise, it was the opposite of those negative reviews. Therefore, I got to the conclusion that the experience depends on the perspective/expectations you have on the hotel. The check-in process was the easiest, smoothest and fastes I have done so far in my life; the front desk staff was very courteous and polite. The hotel areas are well kept and the gran... Read more

This hotel we chose primarily for its location and cheaper price ($250.00, whatever!). We noticed that other hotels in the area we more expensive and a little more out of the way. As for convenience, its there for you but that's about it. We had two full beds that had some pretty uncomfortable mattresses. We booked our 1-night stay through a 3rd party travel company (so the price was right). The hotel is right on the waterfront - across from the pier as we were sailing the next morning. At THIS property, however, the gentleman that checked me in, (I apologize if I get his name wrong, but I believe it was Arturo), went above and beyond in regards to customer service, professionalism and genuine gratitude that I had chosen his property for my stay. He was very proactive in recognizing ... Read more

The rooms are clean, though not very large, and the beds are comfortable. They should have microwave and mini fridge. At the corridor, the housekeeping make much noise and if the ice machine is in front of the room, as it happened to us , it is worse. Other hotels has breakfast included. The hotel location is perfect to enjoy Old San Juan, theaters, restaurants. The staff is very willing to help. Valet parking is expensive, $25 per day.

While I have stayed at beach hotels and resorts, I have found it be much preferable to stay in a central location. Central locations tend to offer easier access to museums, cultural sights and entertainment. The Sheraton Old San Juan in close to the mentioned above and best of all, it is also in the historic, charming section of the city. The staff were friendly and wonderful, always willing to offer a hand and/or help guide us. The rooms were standard hotel rooms, but I will say it is worth... Read more

We selected this hotel because we were going on a cruise and this hotel was the closest to the port terminal (walking distance). We flew in on Saturday, 1 day early, and the ship cruised out Sunday night. I selected a early check-in and late check-out. The room was spacious and clean. I loved the bathroom, definitely the shower, it's large enough for two, you can sit and shave in it. Has a great restaurant with patio seating and good food. The ride from airport was about 15 minutes. We took a ta... Read more

We stayed here for one night before our cruise out of San Juan, PR. When we arrived they told us that they sold our room and only had rooms with two double beds. What a way to start a honeymoon vacation! However, we did receive a decent view from the window and they extended our check out time to 1pm which was a big bonus. I believe they charge for late checkout otherwise. The room was pretty clean, some updates are needed. The bathroom tile could use a redo. We were so tired from an all day f... Read more

The Sheraton Old San Juan has a perfect location. Close to the cruise ship piers and walkable to most parts of Old San Juan. Rooms are comfortable, rates reasonable for the area and service is good. View from the roof top pool area is great. Food in the restaurant is delicious. We had lunch there the day we arrived.

We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights and specifically asked for them to be at the front. We had an email confirmation that they would do their best to honour that but upon arrival flatly refused to do so. That aside our rooms were clean and tidy with good air conditioning. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom well appointed. Prices for the restaurant were very expensive and so we didn't use it. There are plenty of other eateries around but a taxi driver who took us on a tour ($60/ 1 1/2 hrs) t... Read more

I have stayed at many Sheratons and this location has been the only disappointment. After checking in I went to the restaurant and asked for a light afternoon snack, to which the server suggested nachos or another heavy, totally Americanized appetizer. All three days I was there, there were people smoking on the pool deck right in front of a No Smoking sign, I realize this is not directly the hotel staff's fault, but they could prevent this kind of behavior by checking the pool every so often. We stayed here multiple times before heading out on a cruise. The hotel is in a great location. The last time we were here the casino was being renovated and was not open. The restaurant is decent, but there are also many restaurants within walking distance that will give you some amazing local food. The rooms are clean and well maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. The pool is on the top of the building and you get a great view of the port from there.

Nice hotel with great location to everything. Location is right across from a cruise port and walking distance from lots of culture. There's also a ferry nearby. Hotel has a restaurant, roof top pool, and workout area. Suites are spacious and offered views of the ocean, staff was professional and attentive. We enjoyed our stay and I would definitely stay here again!

The location is great, at the water's edge of OSJ, but the hotel is dim, dated and as dingy as the staff uniforms. The room was totally unremarkable for the price and seemed clean. It's not of today's standard and not charmingly old world either. I can't commend the front desk staff, they seem stuck between unmotivated and unhelpful. Monica was nice. The small rooftop pool area was very nice. I could only recommend this hotel for one night if your cruise line is departing from across the stree... Read more

Hotel was great except I reserved an ocean view room and didn't get one. So did our friends that traveled with us. Paid for it and didn't get it. Was told there were none available when we arrived. Ripped off. Other than that, nice hotel in a great location. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping and sites. Short taxi ride to cruise ships.

Expectations for this hotel were high, prime location in San Juan so I thought it must be one of the best in the area but I was wrong. Used a groupon type of website and I still feel I overpaid for this stay. Note that this hotel has no parking so if you have a car you need to either use their valet parking or some of the nearby parking lots. If your offer includes parking the valet can tell you which 2 parking lots are partnered so they can validate it for you. Check-in was normal and as soo... Read more

I stayed here for a conference and the room was ok but really nothing special. Given the tropical climate perhaps a fridge in the room would be necessary. We stayed here again before and after a cruise and a few things have changed. Of coarse the most important thing, the location is the same and it is perfect for cruise travelers as you can walk your bags to the cruise ship. They have closed the downstairs bar where they played salsa music at night and put in a Walgreens. Our room was nice but the food was expensive and service was not good so we left hotel to eat.

The Sheraton Old San Juan is perfectly situated for your trip to Old San Juan. Nestled behind the walls of El Morro and overlooking the Bahia de San Juan, kick back and relax in this classic. Walk around town and take it all in. We were especially looking forward to visiting the Catedral, the hat shop and the quaint little Cafe El Punto we stumbled upon 10 years ago. Loved the location. Close to the ferry, trolley and buses. Lots of places to eat a variety of foods. The entrance to the hotel is very welcoming and the front desk staff was pleasant. My issues were: we were on the 3rd floor and most of the rooms on the 3rd floor were being painted & renovated.Lots of loud banging and noise. The room was nice and clean however, the bed was very very uncomfortable. It felt lie an old mattress that should have been thrown out months ago.

We made a cruise stop in San Juan one year, and, being SPG members, saw the Sheraton right near the cruise terminal and said - we have to come back and stay there!
