Stayed here 3rd-13th may, good basic clean apartments but quite far out. The weather was terrible constant rain but that's the way it goes!! You are mainly left to your own devices. A trip to the old village about 20 minute walk is a must!

Stayed here for 3 nights, on arrival we had to wait for an hour to get our apartment key. When the member of staff arrived he was very nice and apologetic. We got a nice room with a view of the pool. The rooms need to be modernised. The bed clothes did smell of sweat. The Rio restaurant was just great, it's family owned and they could not do enough for you including arranging taxi's. The only down side is they don't open on a Monday not even the bar I would stay here again if it was modernised

Stayed at Rio Apartments in August 2015 with partner and two kids (14 and 9). We arrived late so had to ring a number to have someone come let us in. He came within 20mins so no problem. The room was dated but clean!! There were 2 single beds in the bedroom which we pulled together to make a double and a couch and pull out in the living area which were fine for the kids. The balcony which was facing the pool was very small (2 people max) but we had a second one off the bedroom so no complain... Read more

My fiancée and I visited for three nights (18th May - 21st ) for a quick, cheap break. We booked through low cost holidays, the room worked out at £7 a night! As others have said the rooms are a little tired but spotless. The gardens and pool area are well kept and clean. We were self catering but apart from toast and a cup of tea we didn't make anything in the room, there was no oven but a hob and a microwave so you won't starve. During the day we used the poolside restaurant, no complaints,... Read more

My friend and I visited Rio Apartments from 13th May 2016 to 24th May 2016. We had a one bedroom apartment that was very clean and very well equipped. Clean towels twice a week and cleaning the same. Reception is open and certain times but if you arrive when it is closed you just ring the number provided and someone will come and book you in. Pool area was clean and pool a good size, but there could be more sunbeds as when it gets busy you may not get one. There is a pool bar and restaurant, foo... Read more

People say you get what you pay for and this little apartment complex seems to be kept really busy by selling them cheaply through low cost agents to mainly Irish & some British travellers. So you wouldn‚??t expect an indoor pool. The only trouble is, the indoor pools here were caused by the leaking roof after heavy rain. Guests had to be moved out of at least 7 apartments and we‚??d heard this has been a problem for 3 or more years, but the management company, Garvetur, just haven‚??t bother... Read more

Travelled here in April 2016 as we got a great price for just under a weeks stay here. Apartments are clean and have all the basic facilities you could need. About a 20 min walk away from the marina, we used to cut down by the tennis courts which shortened the walk. Nearby supermarket. No WiFi in the apartment- only available in the main reception and TV has very basic Portuguese channels and there is no air con, this wasn't a problem in April. It is a good base and if you have the good weather ... Read more

Having booked these apartments over a year previous to travelling we didn't quite know what to expect after reading mixed reviews. Now having travelled & returned home, I can honestly say I don't see where all the negativity came from. You get exactly what you pay for, having stayed in much more "superior" accommodation in the past & having been let down by that accommodation, I can 100% say we were pleasantly surprised, yes the rooms are dated & in need of a spruce up, but they are very spac... Went to room which was a nice size no air con which we didn't need but would need in hotter months, no kettle or toaster which isn't good for a self catering room. Just check out the reception opening hours on check in as it is not always maned. The nearest shop is a 10 min walk away, avoid the tourist Spar and use the local supermarkets. Initially we thought the place was ok but only after a day or two did we begin to realise how bad this place is. I found out after booking that there was no air-con, though it'd be ok with a ceiling fan, but there wasn't even one of those so the nights were stiflingly hot! The apartment itself was a sweat-box, as soon as you're out the shower you're sweating again. The place was clean and the bathroom as perfectly fine and functional. We had our bins emptied once in a week and that was our only visit from a cleaner. No linen change in 30 + degrees and no air con is a joke. For the money paid very good. Reception were helpful when open. The onsite bar was grand for a cold beer. 3 euro. Not much of an atmosphere around the pool. Could do with some music. Its about a 40 min walk from the marina which is grand. One major complaint is the bed was a sofa pull out. They need to have proper beds and the the rooms are only cleaned twice a week.
