Having just come from a Sofitel to a Mercure says everything. At Sofitel with a Platinum card you are a special guest - not at Mercure where you are just another guest. Even the invitation to a drink excludes wines, spirits and Champagne. As I don't drink beer that leaves very little else. They had the audacity to suggest that Port is not a wine so I could have that which I did.

First night we got a stuffy and warm room. Although it's around 6 celcius outside I woke up in a pool of sweat. Next morning found out at the reception that they turn off the aircon in the winter, so if you're room is too hot the only way to cool is by opening a window. I had also done that but then you have the problem that you here the homeless people on the street yelling and what not. Second day we got a better room with they're sincerest apologies! Rooms are clean, big tv's, safe and min... Read more

Had a great time at this hotel. We only stayed here, didn't experience any of the dining nor bar areas of the hotel. The room was a little small, the bathroom was very large, but overall it was a great hotel room for staying in the city - the whole point is to visit Porto! The only issue was that our key cards kept on getting deactivated so we had to keep going back to the front desk to reactivate them. Other than that, great stay!

The hotel is centrally located and very close to all attractions in Porto. The closest metro/subway stop is some distance away (especially with luggage), but still very manageable. The facility and rooms were good, clean and modern. There is a lounge and large seating area where groups can meet to lounge. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is very close to the train station and the shopping área. Sightseeing bus is a good option to tackle the lovely, but unleveled, ground of the city and its neighborhood. A nice place is the Mercado do Bonsucesso, which has good restaurants and eating área, in front of a shopping center near Casa da Música. Afterwards, avenida da Boa Vista will show magnificent houses on the way to the ocean

Driving into the rabbit warren of Porto streets can be a challenge, but this Mercure property is worth it! Excellent location close to everything you want to see and do in Porto - and a great staff to boot! We stayed here 2 days and would come back again tomorrow! Two oddities about the place: look DOWN for the room numbers! If you're driving, it's a TIGHT squeeze regardless of the vehicle you have! Fantastically helpful and friendly English-speaking staff - including housekeeping! Yep, we will... Read more

The hotel is clean, rooms are good size and clean. Location is good for tourism the only issue is that the streets behind the hotel are not safe. View from the room excellent Issue with the heating- It was not needed, the room was extremely hot and no way to turn it off.

The hotel is centrally located in Porto. It is easily accessible from the Sao Bento train station and is about 30 minutes on foot from the Campanha Station. The price is reasonable. The room was quiet, clean and well appointed. The staff is friendly and the bar is well stocked and comfortable for a night cap. The breakfast is good. You can get a discount on the breakfast if you join the Acore club for free.

Went to Porto in Dec 16 for a 2 night break and selected this hotel as the price was reasonable and the location seemed good. After taking the railway out from the airport to Sao Bento we were a little lost staring blankly at our map until a very kind local came over and gave us directions. The hotel is not the prettiest building on the outside but on the inside it is very nice. The Check in Staff were helpful and efficient and as an Accor Hotel Member (joined to get discount) we were given vouc... Read more

Perhaps not in the most central part of Porto and without views but the rooms were excellent as was the breakfast and service. The hotel is done in a tasteful modern style. We would strongly recommend this hotel.
