We spent six days in this hotel and were quite satisfied. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and roomy. The staff was very helpful in suggesting restaurants and things to do in town. The hotel is very close to a main thoroughfare and the central part of the old city. It is easy to walk anywhere or catch a bus. The small park across the street was busy with people; it was the feast of St. Anthony, so there was music going all day long. The festa just added to the ambiance of being in Lisbon

A friend of mine and I were doing 3 days in lisboa for the 1st time. made out this hotel to be a small friendly guest house just off the main street Avenida. Boy were we wrong. What a reception. A man at the front desk who seemed to be having a very bad day, and distressed on the phone. He checked us in, handed over the keys and told us we'd find our room upstairs. that's it? Luckily we did, having gone through a maize of corridors and squeaky wooden floor boards, in this eno... Read more

As we were preparing to check-in for a flight to Lisbon, we received notice that our son-in-law had been in a bad accident, sustaining life-threatening injuries. We cancelled our flight and immediately advised Alegria that we would not appear for our pre-paid, three-day reservations starting the next day. I explained the circumstances and asked for their consideration for a refund of day two and three. They responded "No". Rather heartless, I believe.

We had read that this hotel was located across from a quiet park, but the locale was anything but quiet during our two night stay. We had to open the windows for ventilation, and there was a lot of racket during the evening and night that made it difficult to sleep. The room was small and the bed was not very comfortable. There was wifi at the hotel but only at the ground floor, not in the rooms. But the wooden floors were beautiful, the man at the front desk spoke good English and was helpful, ... Read more

The hotel is perfectly located, near the center of the city yet far enough from the hustle and noise, with lots of great restaurants near by. The buses and metro are not far as well. We booked two rooms for our family trip and it was perfect. The service is friendly and efficient. The rooms are very clean, spacious enough. The breakfast is very good. The only thing I would improve is that there is not enough to store or hang things in the bathroom (one hook is not enough) or in the bedroom. A sm... Read more

We stayed at Residencial Alegria for three nights in early June. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was available and good, but a costly add-on. Also, the location is very good. Our biggest issue was with the room itself. Very small (even by European standards), the shower drained very poorly, and there was no closet, which made the small room size even worse. Overall, not the best value for our money.

This place seems to have taken past reviewers comments to heart and have improved the breakfast offerings, kept the place immaculate, offered decent toiletries and improved the wifi. The front desk staff was also gracious. The only missing information was clear arrival information. From the airport take the airport bus to the Restauradores stop, walk up Liberdade 2-3 blocks. Take a left on Rua da Concecao da Gloria up a slightly steep single block . Turn right at the end of the block and then ... Read more

We stayed in this hotel for a week and the feedback is very positive. Even if the prices are high for a 1 star (we had the suite room, 90 euros per night) the quality is very high too. I've been to a lot of 3-4 stars hotels for work and this is comparable. The cleanliness was high and the staff was very nice too.

I stayed in this hotel whilst in Lisbon for business. 20 minutes after my arrival there was a power cut, this was not the hotels fault but there was no backup generator either so a little issue for me as I needed to prepare for the next day. The air conditioning went off on my first day and wasn't repaired before I left. I understand it was a national holiday in Portugal, so appreciate that it may not have been easy to be repaired. I was poorly on one of the days and asked for a coffee at th... Read more

Charming little hotel overlooking a pretty little park close to amenities in a reasonably quiet square. Tastefully furnished, spacious, bright, airy rooms. Large screen tv, too busy to use it. Sofas and chairs. Comfortable bed. Immaculately clean. Lift. Air conditioning was a godsend as we visited in the middle of a heatwave. Although the hotel was full, we heard very little noise from other guests as the rooms have been sound proofed, also very little street noise. Breakfast was very good, al... Read more

Consugliatisimo.

We got the recommendation from Rick Steves. I was a little nervous because I saw a few bad reviews on Trip Advisor. I am so glad we didn't change our recommendation. We had a premium room that was basically a suite. It was a corner room an very large. Huge windows. The bedroom was basically a sleeping mecca. We didn't include breakfast which is good because we would never have made it down in time. Nice neighbor close to everything but not too close.

Very good hotel located in the nice Praca de Alegria. It is an old palace, so the room was furnished with old wood-made furnitures. The staff was very kind. The hotel is 100 mt away from the Av Libertade AeroBus, and 2' by walk from the restaurant Maria Mil Reis that we loved.

Really enjoyed the three nights spent at Hotel Alegria in Lisbon, it is situated a very short walk from shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions, as well as Rossio station - Ideal location! Slight warning to those taking the shuttle from the airport, the walk to the hotel from the bus stop (Libredades) is steep - great workout for your legs up the hill, but a bit of a pain with a heavy bag. The rooms were cozy, nice bedding and a nice hot shower, maid service was great every day. The hotel o... Read more

The hotel Algeria served as a beautiful oasis as our base in Lisbon! The lodgings were comfortable and location unbeatable in the beautiful "champs d'elysses" of Lisbon. It was walking distance to all of lisbon's memorable attractions! Thanks to the hardworking Carlos, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

Review Hotel Alegria Hotel Alegria is elegance at a bargain. Imagine a chandelier in your room. The location is good. Hotel Alegria ia one block away from the major street Avenida da Liberdade, although that one block is quite steep. Around the one block of Praca Alegria there are mini-markets, bars and a very good restaurant. My room was small but very clean. There is only view of nearby buildings. The bed was comfortable. Everything worked. The internet was efficient. The lobby is... Read more
