What I loved most about it was the location. It is on a parallel street with Avenida da Liberdade, 2 minutes from Pra├ža dos Restauradores. There's the subway nearby, a Padaria Portuguesa for breakfast/lunch/dinner (we didn't try the breakfast at the hotel, which was free) and close to anything you could possibly want to visit in the centre - Rossio, Rua Augusta, Pra├ža da Figueira etc. The room was very clean and pleasant, the staff were lovely and helpful. Just bear in mind there is wi-fi on... Read more

I stayed here for my mates 40th weekend and it was a lovely hotel. The location was very central five minutes walk from the tube station and only 10 minutes up a steep hill to barro alto where there were lots of nice restaurants and bars. The breakfast was a very lovely as it consisted of croissant's, bread, eggs, tea, coffee and juice. The staff are very helpful and accommodating with recommendations of restaurants to try. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel as it was great value for ... Read more

Way too expensive according to what it offers. Very small rooms. Very poor breakfast. Lousy staff. But near good spots specially shopping and entertainment (theaters). Hard Rock Cafe is also nearby. Nice but expensive places to eat nearby.

I highly recommend this hotel due to its wonderful staff and excellent location. So much of Lisbon was easily accessible by foot and a charming pedestrian street was down the road. The staff was eager to offer tips and suggestions. The facilities were simple but clean and comfortable. Wonderful value for the price.

This pension has 2 things going for it. Fantastic location in the heart of Lisbon and great staff who can't do enough for you. Beyond that it is pretty Spartan. The rooms are sparsely furnished. The beds good for straightening out a bad back. The breakfast is bread, croissants, coffee tea juice and a few pieces of fruit. Wi fi is only available in the foyer. in my view no hotel without free wifi in all rooms deserves 5. So there it is. For a short stay it is fine. But I will leave it up to you d... Read more

The pensao doesn't have fancy furnishings, but the rooms are kept spotlessly clean (except for an area rug in the room that looked like it had seen better days). The breakfast room is a little cramped and doesn't offer an abundant selection, but is more than enough to fill you up. Location is close (within 5 minutes walk) to the AeroBus bus stop, metro, Rossio train station (for trips to Sintra), TI, ATMs, Hard Rock Cafe (where many day trip tours pick up passengers). It is off a quiet street. T... Read more

I had a good stay in a great location near Metro and restaurants. The gentlemen who run it were friendly, knowledgeable and spoke very good English. I thought the breakfast was fine as in addition to bread, juice & coffee they had boiled eggs and cheese. It was good value but I would happily pay an extra Euro or two for wifi in the room instead of just the lobby. The room was clean. I didn't like the mattress cover that makes a noise when you move but otherwise the bed was comfortable.

Location can't be beat, two blocks from main Plaza (Rossio) and on a pedestrian street full of nice restaurants. The bed was hard and I could have used another pillow& bathroom or wall hook, but I didn't ask. Bathroom new, lots of hot water, big windows. The staff are wonderful: giving directions, tourist advice, calling cabs, recommending restaurants, & one even offered to go running with me! Good continental breakfast. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that a bar across the way had music... Read more

The location of this hotel was perfect for exploring Lisbon and beyond. Centrally located, it is within walking distance of the metro, buses, the tram (trolley) and the train station. It is also within walking distance of everything in central Lisbon. The hotel amenities include air conditioning and breakfast each morning. Lisbon is a beautiful city and is convenient to Sintra and Cascais. From Sintra or Cascais it's an easy trip to Cabo da Roca, as well.

We Stayed at this hotel (room 203) with friends for 3 nights. The hotel was in a really good location. The Hard Rock Cafe, restaurants and all the other shops were around the corner. Very good walking distance to most of the historical places as well. Our room was nice and very clean. The bathroom was basic but also very clean. The daily staff were really friendly and helpful. The only downsides were across the road (view from our window) a building was being demolished and there was a terrible ... Read more

Location of this hotel can't be beat ! It's within walking distance of most sites in Lisbon as well as the metro, Rossio train station, and many restaurants ! A very short walk from the airport bus drop off ! Rooms are spartan, but spotless, as is the bathroom ! Currently WiFI is only available on the main floor, but plans are in place to have it throughout the hotel. A small family runs the place, and the 2 sons working at the front desk speak excellent English and are extremely helpful and k... Read more

First stayed at this hotel in 2001, and this was our third time. This time with friends and we had an amazing time. Centrally located, clean, friendly and family owned. We all enjoyed our stay and will stay again. Walking distance to Metro, shopping, restaurants and entertainment.

The street looks like a war zone, with broken pavements and demolition sites all around, but don't let this put you off. It is, in effect, a very up and coming area - hence all the building work - and Pensao Portuense has a location most hotels would give their right arm for, just one block back from Praca dos Restauradores, on a small road which runs parallel with Lisbon's high-class shopping boulevard, Avenida da Liberdade. The main Rossio square with its train station is just a few minutes' w... Read more
