Often it seems a hotel has a convenient location but falls short in other ways. In many ways this hotel is the reverse. The staff were very attentive and the buffet breakfast was pretty good. Our room was large and well appointed. In fact we enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much. Unfortunately the hotel is located in a rather run down district with uneven pavements and steep hills. My wife in particular struggled with this but I guess younger fitter guests would not. Local taxis solved i... Read more

We stayed two nights here and were pleased with the decision. The hilltop location, just below the castle, means the hotel is very quiet yet it is conveniently close to the centre and its transport links. The castle entrance was a ten minute walk away and down below were the main squares with trams and buses again only 10 minutes walk away. Our superior double room was ok, a little jaded around the edges and in need of some refurbishment but the bed was comfortable and the room light and airy.... Read more

Totally charming hotel in unique location on north wall of Castelo. A true 4 star with lovely room, large patio with beautiful view, all amenities and great breakfast buffet. Friendly and helpful staff. Close to everything. Only drawback is that no taxis come by and to get anywhere you must hike down cobblestones, stairs etc. not for the elderly or infirm.

I can tolerate all manner of ordinariness in a hotel when visiting a strange city when I have someone such as Ines manning the front desk. And thankfully for the Olissopo Castelo, she saved their reputation since she was pretty wonderful with her advice, recommendations, bookings, etc. Otherwise I would rate the hotel pretty ordinary with a construction site being cleared directly opposite which, should it result In a building thereon, will obscure the current good view across Alfama. Beautiful large room with panoramic view of Castle area (not of Castle). Staff is friendly and helpful. Our bathroom has a bathtub/shower (I love baths). We were gifted a bottle of port as a welcome gift. Quiet. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. (Buy cork - a renewable resource. Bracelets make great gifts.) Wifi works well; breakfast is delicious; linens feel wonderful. Rooms equipped with robes, slippers, small frig, electric kettle for coffee/tea, TV. One end of room has bed; the ... Read more

Olissippo Castelo was a great place from which to launch our Lisbon adventure. The rooms are large, beautiful and very well maintained. There is a level of luxury throughout. The staff is excellent, attentive and extremely helpful. Breakfast are excellent and very fresh. Nothing but quality throughout. Our room view had a great area overlook and had a balcony which we used to take in the views. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes in this part of town as cobblestones are everywhere. Alfama is a cha... This is a beautiful hotel in a great location not far from the castle. We had requested a room on a high floor with a view and that is exactly what we got - a lovely, spacious room with wall to wall windows and a superb outlook over the city. We stayed for 4 nights and slept very well - the area was remarkably quiet, with very little traffic. Breakfast was excellent and the front desk staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed the experience of going up and down f... Read more

This hotel was a mixed bag. The location near the castle is great, affording nice views of the city while walking to and from the hotel. We had a view of the opposite hillside from our balcony but the hotel is undergoing some construction in front and a giant crane obscured our view and towered above our balcony. (Recommend you check on this before booking), The balcony was large and - were the crane not to be looming overhead - would have been a great spot to relax in the late afternoon / e... Read more

Booked a double room but was upgraded to a suite. Very clean and well maintained. Staff very helpful, they do want you to have a good time in Lisbon. Enjoyed walking around the city. Nice to walk along the old cobbled streets. Would recommend this hotel. A good choice of food for breakfast.

We loved everything about this hotel. The staff was wonderful, welcoming and helpful and our room was very comfortable and spacious. We loved the neighborhood-it felt as if we were living in a small town. The street in front of the hotel is only open to local traffic and taxis, so it is very quiet at night. We were leaving early on our last day for the airport, and when the staff realized we would miss breakfast they asked what we would like for breakfast and had it waiting for us before 7 a... Super friendly staff and extremely helpful.Very clean and comfortable. We got upgraded to a suite, it was huge. Breakfast was included and was very good. Hotel is in the old section of town, with steep hills. We would stay at this hotel again without hesitation. Great Boutique hotel.

A bed and breakfast booking, which was delight. Super views over the City and situated close to the castle and a number of good restaurants. The staff were very friendly and the rooms stylish and comfortable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights at Olissippo Castelo in Lisbon in late June 2016. For those with good or average mobility seeking a fantastic location and lovely staff, then this is the place for you. If you would like a pool, evening meals at the hotel or have any reduced level of mobility, then avoid the Olissippo Castelo. For us though (two couples), it was simply ideal.

This small hotel is located along a narrow cobbled street on the top of one of Lisbon's seven hills. We had a lovely experience staying in a spacious, beautifully furnished suite with an outside terrace that overlooked other scenic parts of Lisbon. All the amenities and comforts were here in room and bathroom; the desk staff was superb. Our room price through Booking did not include the buffet breakfast, which had ample choices but cost seven Euros. Lisbon is a city for walking, and staying on t... Read more
