Inspired by many very positive reviews we had read for this hotel, we booked in for a stay. The problem we had was these reviews had raised hopes and expectations of free breakfasts and upgrades to rooms with great views across the city. But sadly for us, it was not to be - and that can often be the case. The reality was wet a smart but rather dark room on the second floor facing onto R. Da Oliveira ao Carmo. The decor was smart if rather masculine in tone. Good internet. Good strong shower but ... Read more

We had a wonderful 5 night stay at the Lisboa Carmo! We had a corner room on the top floor and it had a lovely view from both windows! Although it's right on the square, with the windows closed, it was quiet at night and the air con is very effective and very quiet. The square itself is lively and very pleasant, with an excellent restaurant on the corner (Restaurante Carmo). We had a few minor housekeeping niggles, but in fairness we were quite demanding and asked for extra pillows, a kettle, mo... Read more

We spent two days at the Lisboa Carmo hotel and would recommend it if your wishing to stay in the old center of Lisbon. It's very close to the Squares where lots of activities take place. Lots of shopping cafés restaurants people watching etc. The desk personnel were very helpful. The rooms were small but beautifully decorated with very very comfortable beds. It is a bit noisy sometimes out on the street especially when the garbage trucks go by in the wee hours of the morning. I wouldn't hesita... Read more

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Lisboa Carmo Hotel! It is such a beautiful boutique hotel in an amazing location, but more than anything else, we were blown away by the amazing service and attention to detail. We were celebrating our anniversary and my birthday, and they went out of their way to ensure we had the perfect experience! They even treated us to a complimentary dinner at Maria Do Carmo, and the chef prepared vegetarian entrees for us that were not on the menu - one of th... Read more

The room was exceptional for how well it blocked street noise, even though it was in a popular area. Many attractions were within walking distance. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The restaurant had good dinner of well-prepared local dishes with a nice setting. The breakfast was bountiful.

This hotel was excellent in every way. The location is very nice as it is near a small Plaza with excellent restaurants and public transportation. The rooms were large and comfortable and had all of the amenities one would need. The really bright spot however, is the staff. They went out of their way to help us every chance they got. They made reservations for activities for us, pointed us in the right direction for good restaurants And were just generally very nice.  We have already recommen... Read more

If you are looking for an "authentic" experience and you enjoy walking, you couldn't be better positioned than staying at Lisboa Carmo. In the hotel restaurant, I heard the BEST fado interpreter ever from a jazz singer: Nadia Marques (Diva Nady). Every day they give you a tall glass bottle of water (I thought very classy) for your room. Breakfasts include a Belem-worthy custard tart and croissants and pain au chocolat that you can pop in their toaster, along with fresh papaya and mango, etc. I... Read more

I stayed here with my husband for three nights and cannot praise it highly enough. Room, staff, location were all top notch. Breakfast was super and we even ate in the restaurant which is very unusual for us and I am so glad we did as it was gorgeous. It's also very reasonable. If we come to Lisbon again we will definitely stay here. Thanks all.

I went to Lisbon for a weekend and what a beautiful city it is The weather was so warm and the sky was always blue. We stayed in this Hotel which is in a fabulous position with wonderful views. It is high up in the old part of the city. It is an old apartment block that has been converted into a fabulous small Hotel. It is very modern and I would have loved to take the bathroom home with me. The bedroom is small but clean and has everything you would need. The breakfast was delicious. Th... Read more

This central location is perfect - it's close to transport, the main shopping and sightseeing district, and is a delightful hotel. As a solo traveller, the staff were extremely accommodating and full of helpful information ( and directions!) and one was made to feel very welcome. There is a plaza with restaurants just out the front where you can enjoy a drink or meal ( and watch the football with the locals if so inclined), and just a short walk to the hub of the shopping district, the waterfr... Stayed three nights and was very pleasantly surprised as tough to get a good booking in Lisbon this time of year. Great location, in a very good area, very safe. Only four years old, very clean 4.5 stars, friendly and helpful staff. Will stay here again in next visit to Lisbon.

A really well placed hotel - slap bang in the middle of the action and close to lots of bars and restaurants. The hotel is within a few minutes walk of the shopping district and on a beautiful and quiet square. The staff are very helpful and polite. Breakfast is reasonably standard (bread cheeses etc) but of good quality and quite varied. The only possible criticism is that the rooms are fairly small but I wouldn't let that put me off - this is a great base from which to explore Lisbon. Ps if y... Read more

There's no need to write any more than the the following: 1. Staff - very helpful, professional and courteous 2. Room - comfortable and modern. A bit small but its in the middle of the city so as expected. 3. Location - no more than a 5 minute walk to all the main attractions 4. Absolute value for money. Looking for a short break in Lisbon? Don't waste any more time looking for a hotel.. book here.

Nice central hotel from which to explore the city. Friendly staff, ok breakfast. Did not like the carpets in the room nor the twin beds pushed together especially since we requested a non carpeted room at booking and a double bed . Our shower had mold which was not good and the air conditioner seemed to be set at a fixed number and we had to call downstairs to request they check it out. Everything else however was good and the staff were helpful and friendly. Free water every day in the room wh... Read more

This hotel is ideally located in the centre of Lisbon, which was perfect for our short stay in the city. The hotel is tucked away in a side street just off a leafy square and we found the hotel quiet and peaceful. The room was clean and modern, but the bathroom only gets 2 stars as the sink looks good but is absolutely useless to wash in! Likewise the shower is very fiddly to use. However overall I would recommend this hotel. The staff were also friendly and helpful.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Great sized room. We were top floor with amazing views of the castle and lisbon roof tops. A great location and easy to get around. Nice bars and restaurants near by. A very relaxed hotel with nice atmosphere. I would highly recommend staying here.

Great hotel conveniently location in Chiado near the Elevador de Santa Justa. Opposite the hotel in Largo do Carmo are three or four restaurants that spill out onto the square. We grazed there, took an aperitif and watched the Portuguese team win over France. The hotel is on a corner and the rooms overlook two different streets, so are airy but the double glazing keeps out the night noise. We stayed twice and in one room we were able to open both our suitcases out flat, which we loved. ... Read more

Right on a lovely square. Staff provided bottled water daily, restaurant reservation, & helpful information about the local area. I would recommend this hotel to friends. There was some street noise on Saturday night, but that's probably not usual.

We were deciding between this place and the more popular - and expensive - Pestana Palace. So glad we chose the Lisboa Carmo. It's right in the center of town on a historic square. You can walk - or take public transportation - to almost anywhere from here. Despite the lively nightlife in the square, the hotel is quiet. Our room was on the small side but modern and well appointed. Every employee we had contact with was helpful and friendly. Also, honest.

The staff was among the most hospitable and service minded warm hearted caring we have experienced. Allout recommended for their superior and genuine HR skills. Everything else with Carmo is what you can expect from a renowned classy 4 star hotel, but, again, the staff are absolutely exceptional. Whenever we return to Lisboa we will surely return. We have found our spot <3

The room itself is very silent so the outside won't effect you. Staff is very cooperative and friendly. Cleanliness and housekeeping was excellent. Very good looking hotel, located in the heart of Lisbon, at the corner of a lovely place and within the best areas (Baixa, Chiado, one step away from Bairro Alto, etc.) Rooms are really clean, quiet and comfortable so you can really rest. Complementary drink is proposed by the hotel when you get there. They have a nice restaurant and a few tables on the place.

A welcome drink available at arrival, I was given the impression that this quaint hotel cares about its customers. The reception staff were very patient and understanding and did their best to accommodate my needs. At all times they were professional and very courteous. The hotel was so good in fact that I extended my stay an extra night as it was the perfect location and service to really enjoy Lisbon. The square of Carmo in Chiado is very scenic. I stayed 3 nights at this hotel and unfortunately found it had some issues: 1. My single room was tiny, shaped like a hallway, and had no view although advertisement had promised one. 2. The TV was placed opposite the bed in an awkward, parallel corner position. This meant one couldn't lie in bed and watch TV comfortably. 3. The remote control didn't function properly. It had to be replaced twice. 4. The pillows are so meagerly filled that there is n...
