Agree with all the positive comments in previous reviews. The location is perfect, the views to die for and the staff really friendly, with an excellent breakfast. We booked a superior double and asked for a quiet room and ended up in the 8th floor with a small separate sitting room overlooking Rua Garrett - ideal for a tea break after walking miles around Lisbon (brought little kettle with us) and watching the world go. Quiet at night. Do come to this hotel. Yes, it is quite expensive but ... Read more

What a surprise to find this magical retreat tucked away behind a modest street facade! Spectacular views from the roof-top terrace merely enhance the charm and friendliness of the staff. Comfortable rooms ensure a peaceful night in this marvellous location. Only flaw for us was a limited menu in the bar restaurant. Try it for yourselves!

My husband and I stayed at the Do Chiado for four nights at the beginning of May. The hotel is centrally located and within easy walking distance of the Metro, trams and buses. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Our room on the seventh floor was enormous and spotlessly clean with a wonderful terrace overlooking the Castle and the River. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Thank you to all the staff at the Do Chiado, we can't wait to return to Lisbon an... Read more

The location is perfect - right in the Baixa-Chiado next to the metro station, but still very quiet and peaceful at night. Short walk to the waterfront, and an easy walk up to the castle too - the reception staff showed us some sneaky shortcuts and free lifts that you can use to get up there easily. The staff are great, really helpful and friendly all the time. The breakfast for guests is 12 Euros and includes cooked options, breads and jams, and my favourite part- about 7 or 8 different types... Read more

Very accommodating staff. Entry into hotel is small and unassuming but it opens up at higher grounds and things kept getting better. Room is clean, modern. The best attraction is the terrace wih fantastic views of Lisbon hills. Breakfast buffet has delicious variety of fresh fruits, baked goods including Patel de Nata, juices, eggs and proteins...We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in Lisbon

This hotel is really well located in the center of Chiado just off Garrett. All the restaurants and shops and various sites to visit are within walking distance. The staff is friendly and helpful. You walk out of the lobby and you are in the heart of downtown Lisbon.

Just returned from a 3 night break. Hotel situated in ideal position for waterfront and numerous shops and restaurants and based above the metro station. A modern shopping mall is conveniently situated next door. We had a superior room which was spacious and well furnished. Without exaggeration it was the quietest hotel room I have ever booked.

This is a very convenient location for walking, catching the Metro, shopping. The hotel rooftop patio offers a fabulous view, the food is very good and staff helpful. While my room had only a small window with no view, I hardly noticed as I was not in the room except to sleep. The AC could have been more efficient but it was overall very comfortable.

We are three couples who booked three rooms with fabulous views following drinks on rooftop bar last year The only good thing was the view. Air conditioning rubbish. The pillows probably worst ever in any hotel I've stayed in. There was no plug in the bath - had to phone for one. Breakfast is a marathon: jug of lukewarm stewed coffee on buffet table but cup on place setting so run around to get refill. Minuscule juice glasses. Old scrambled or hard boiled eggs. Nobody serving anyone anyt... Read more

We had the best room of the hotel on the top floor with a patio and a garden in front of the room and the whole city of Lisbon at our feet. The room very clean, with a nice king-size bed, nicely decorated, with a fridge. The few things that could be improved: an umbrella on the patio to protect against the strong sun, hooks in the bathroom that actually are hooks, so the towels don't constantly fall on the floor, breakfast should be served on the 7th floor not on the 8th (i.e. inside), so the... We stayed in a large terrace room overlooking the best view in Lisbon! The staff were friendly and helpful and also spoke English. The hotel is in a lovely area and there is a taxi stand out the front for those who don't want to venture on the cobblestones. It also has a rooftop bar with amazing views to have a few drinks after you have been out . Close to many restaurants .

I first saw the magnificent rooftop view in New York Times (36 Hours in Lisbon) and I knew I could not stay anywhere else. Do spring for the room with a terrace and you will not regret it. Our tour guide took us to all the famous miradouros (viewpoints) in Lisbon and these could not compare to the superb views right outside our room. Priceless view at any time of day: sunrise, sunset, and midnight with the city awash with lights. Location is another plus. You cannot be more central in Chiado. Al... Read more

This hotel is a perfect hotel to explore Lisboa. It is located in the middle of everything. One can walk to almost all the major attractions in Lisboa from this location. The views from the roof terrace are just spectacular. The bar could do a better job at catering to the guests. My wife and I left several times the area because of poor service. My girlfriend and I stayed at Hotel Do Chiado in the beginning of August 2016. Below are a few notes I would find important if I were booking again: -The location of Hotel do Chiado is perfect. Before booking I was skeptical and thought we would feel farther out from the popular Baixa area. This is absolutely not true. Being right in the Chiado area is a great location, you are between Baixa and Barrio Alto (both places you will want to go as a tourist). Alfama is an easy 10-15 minute walk. We w... Read more

Another excellent view point from Chiado, the vantage point opposite Castelo Sao George. Enjoy the morning coffee or afternoon cocktails with an amazing view of the city, the service is prompt and friendly. Had a meeting in the morning, the perfect set up for a sales meeting. We were gobsmacked and immediately opened the champagne in the minibar. The "lift" where tourists climb a tower to get views were basically just to the left of us.
