The hotel was partially under renovation. No one informed us about it during the check-in. The breakfast was monotonous and almost empty all the time, the fruit was moldy, the eggs were green inside, the breakfast staff did their best to try to gloss over this by making jokes and sing for the guests .. our room were not in the best condition, example the wooden floor in the bathroom were moldy and the floorboards were standing in all directions. The staff .. they probably would have preferred no... Read more

We stayed at this hotel as a family, upon pulling up we immediately agreed that the location is spectacular. Right on Rue Garret this truly is a happening area right outside the hotel, tons of restaurants, entertainment and access to trams, local transportation and historical monuments. It was a 7-10 minute cab ride from the airport, we chose to take a cab even though there is a shuttle service from the airport for less than 4euros. Our cab ride was 12euros on a Friday afternoon with plenty o... Read more

The best part of the Hotel is the location +++ and the staff were very helpful. An issue arose with Booking.com and, when the website did not acknowledge the booking, we booked again and got stuck with double booking cost. We await refund, 3 weeks later! The Hotel staff were very helpful in getting the issue resolved. The hotel needs an upgrade to support the price charged, but this will be done in the fullness f time.

Arriving at the hotel at midnight it stood out being a very clean and modern reception with staff who quickly took passport details and gave us our room key, the safe key is 1.50 euro a day and the wifi is free, there are two lifts that take you up to the rooms and a staircase at the back, we stayed in room 501, the room hadn't been part of the refurbishment or they hadn't been able to get round to it yet. There were 3 beds, two of them had been pushed together, you don't go on a city break to s... Read more

Hotel Borges Chiado ticks all the boxes. Excellent location, friendly staff, value for money...there is one exception, breakfast. Whilst the product meets the 3* criteria the breakfast room is often heavily crowded and very difficult to find a table.

In February me and my girlfriend visited this hotel during our citytrip in Lissabon. We booked (with a nice discount) via booking.com. After we booked we read some reviews from people who mentioned getting the worse rooms if they booked that cheap. Upon arrival we were surprised. We had a nice, large room with double bed and view on the inner court. The view wasn't great but we had what we wanted: rest and almost no noise. We had more than enough space to put away everything. The only shortcomm... Read more

Decent hotel that is in an excellent location. Rooms small but nice, bathroom not amazing but functional. Breakfast good. Staff generally not very friendly (with some nice exceptions). However would really recommend it as a place to stay thanks to amazing central location near to metro, tram, bars, restaurants and most tourist attractions. Overall a great place to stay!

After a harrowing ordeal at the hotel we booked (Duas Nacoes) - we got transferred to hotel Borges. It's a 3 star hotel in a lovely location; close to the trams and buses and right by the subway. There's a piazza right outside the hotel with lively eateries and music. Location wise; a great find. It's close to the marina which was also a plus. The rooms were modern and clean; with a small balcony overlooking the piazza. The only downside was the bathroom- really small and no ventilation! No wi... Read more

Travelled to Portugal for 4 nights as a couple and despite the rain had a perfect stay here. On check in we were stuck behind a party of around 30 French students also trying to check in. We thought the worst - late night noise! We asked for a quiet room when checking in and the staff were brilliant! They put us in an attic room on the top floor which was warm, clean and very comfortable. We had a lovely little rooftop balcony too! Had a fantastic nights sleep every night. Bed was ridiculously ... Read more

We first stayed at the Borges Chiado back in 2012 and chose it again mainly because of its excellent location and proximity to Bairro Alto, the Metro and the 28 tram. It's a nice hotel, too, though the air-con can be a bit overpowering and the breakfast is short on character. Initially we were a bit disappointed to be stuck up on the 5th floor at the side, having had a front-facing fourth floor room last time. However in the light of the massive street celebrations in and around Largo di Chia... Read more

Our actual stay at the hotel was fine, however in the time since they, they have been totally unresponsive about luggage that was accidentally left behind. They have not responded to any emails sent and were entirely dismissive on the phone. If they were responsive, they would easily earn more stars, however I'm super disappointed in how this is being handled.

We were in Portugal and decided a last minute trip to see Lisbon, hopped on a train, right outside Baixa Chiado station was a square full of bars, restaurant and music! Looked across to see a cute little sign which said "Hotel" in black on top of a glass door, walked in hoping they had rooms as this was a very random trip! Yes ‚?¨150 SOLD! Walked up to room 214 opened the door and couldn't believe how beautiful the room was! Gold and white decor with fur! The tv was located in a mirror which i... Read more

This hotel has a location that cannot be beat. You are literally right in front of a metro stop and the area is so walkable all you want to do is discover all the streets around you. We walked in the neighborhood and stumbled on Museum of the National Guard and the Archeological Museum, and that is steps away from the top of the Santa Justa Elevator. So many wonderful and great restaurants in the area, all within walking distance. The hotel was comfortable enough, we had a room facing the back ... Read more

The best about this Hotel is for sure it's location! The rooms are quite ok and big and the breakfast is pretty standart but good! However the locations tops it all. Very close from Cais do Sodré, Bairro Alto and just in front of the Metro-station.

Look elsewhere first. While the location is great, you will undoubtedly overpay for what you will receive. The rooms were beat up and uncleanly. We suffered through a night in one to get a room change the next night. The "updated" room was like putting lipstick on a pig: looked new but poorly designed and of bad quality. The front desk staff was generally terse and unhelpful. I would be frustrated with my situation if I was employed there too.

This hotel was very centrally placed for shopping and getting around. It was very busy at check-in so avoid the specified check-in time. The room was clean but noisy until about 1am. I don't think we'd choose this hotel again, we'd probably choose something quieter next time.

This hotel has a fantastic location, within walking distance of almost everything (if Lisbon's hills don't scare you) and right next to the subway (Baixa-Chiado station - blue line and green line). The breakfast is also very nice and the WiFi was good. BUT... the accomodations are very spartan. Some of the rooms are very small, some have been renovated but others - not. One of our rooms only had a sitting tub, that made it very difficult to shower standing, for lack of standing space. The noise ... Read more

First off, I will mirror what most reviews say... the location is amazing. It's on top of Baixa-Chiado metro station (and the metro line extends all the way to Lisbon's airport) and it's CENTRAL. As in... middle of tourist-packed city centre central. The hotel itself is... while not underwhelming... well... it's on the lower end of the 3 stars it has. The renovated rooms look good enough (we had the chance of seeing a non-renovated room... it smelled funny and was quite damp... but someone was u... Read more

Paid extra to hold a superior room overnight due to early morning arrival - arrived and were shoved in a 'cupboard' for a room' til they sorted out our room - although it was supposed to be ready and waiting!!! Clearly they had sold our room and doubled booked - but offered no refund or apology! After hanging around for 3.5hrs a room was presented to us. It was supposed to be a superior room but it was hardly that! The room was spacious and it did have the requested balconies, but the decor w... Read more

We stayed here end of August for a few nights. Rooms are fine although we booked two singles and got one double and one small single. Rooms at the front likely to be noisy as they overlook a pedestrian street where there always seems to be a band playing with amps. But there are rooms on both sidestreets and at the back. Beds comfy, bathroom could be a bit more modern. Breakfast served in a beautiful room with gilt and chandeliers, however only one waitress on duty for 50+ people, she was un... Read more

Generally as a hotel it is good but it depends on the room they will give you. The rooms are quite clean and for a 3 star hotel they are fine. The problem is that the lower floors can be quite noisy because you are right on a busy street. My advice is to ask for a nice room on the top floors. Finally the location of the place could not be better. You are on a beautiful street in the center of Lisbon and near many attractions and a metro station.

No better location for a tourist. It is in the heart of old Lisbon in Chiado. Step out of the front door into action. Trams, people, bustle plus restaurants and cafes. ****From the airport take the Metro to Baixa Chiado station. An escalator then takes you up to Rua Garrett and drops you at the hotel's front door. It couldn't be easier. Metro ticket is around 2 Euros. Breakfast could be improved. The hotel was very busy when we stayed and though the restaurant staff were excellent, more staff we... Read more

Breakfast room like a 100+ years old palace ball room. You have to experience it. Great location, walking distance to many attractions and just few meters from Metro. Famous coffee shop beside the entrance to Hotel and excellent small restaurants few blocs away.No climbing the stairs, elevator in the lobby.
